'Clear and obvious' is a nonsense in this situation because it has to be slowed down to see if there was even contact or not. Make the ref responsible for confirming his own on-field decision. He should be coming away from that with a yellow card and instead he’s got his team a goal and is getting plaudits for his cheating. Meanwhile players are getting booked for kicking the ball away in the slightest fashion and we’re getting 20 minutes of injury time a game. It's been like this for a while. Diving used to be a 50/50 thing. You take the risk and sometimes you get rewarded. Now, absurdly, you have the tech, and VAR and diving is rewarded more than not.
