We have to play an u21 team and our opponents use their first team ? How about Cov as they are championship ?
useless
I think technically by the laws of the competition everyone is meant to play their first team, on the FA website it's even listed as Aston Villa first, West Brom first, and so on, but league clubs in reality play an academy team and that's accepted. Coventry I presume have been playing an U21 team, they haven't played their third round game yet, they've got Coleshill Town on the 22nd.
Popular Post Unused Sub
Another non-league ground ticked off the list and £10 lighter in the wallet, I found myself at Sutton Coldfield last night. I can confirm it was a bit nippy out. Controlled the game throughout and deserved to progress to the next round. Could have been 6 or 7 and no one would have complained, but 3-1 will do very nicely. Richards could have had a couple more. O’Reilly, Broggio, Bogarde and Wilson on another day would have scored. First time I’ve seen Broggio, and can see why there is a bit noise around him, looks quite easy on the eye when running with the ball. Shame he went off holding the top of his leg/hip early in the second half. Richards went off late in the game with cramp. A note on Tristen Rowe, it’s the first time I’ve seen him at centre-back since the Albion U21 game last season where we were turned over 2-6. The Albion forwards that night looked like they were on ‘big dinners’ and Rowe struggled a bit. Last night he looked very good, and handled the Sutton forwards well. His distribution was very good as well. So then the goals; Richards found the top corner from long range early in the second half, The Royals equalised with a header from a set piece, roughly 15 minutes to go. The assist for our second goal should go the chap on the PA system who announced “the referee has indicated that there will be an additional 4 minutes added on time, if the game is still level after this there will be a penalty shootout.” Just as he finished this announcement, the ball was swung in from the left and Teddy Rowe, unmarked at the far stick, tapped home from six yards to much amusement to the crowd. From the kick off Sutton got the ball down their right-hand side, the cross was mis-hit and looked to have caught Proctor off guard having expected the cross to come in, the ball looked odds-on to go into the net at the near post, but somehow Proctor managed to tip it around the post. From the resultant corner there was a scrimmage on the edge of the box, the ball was won and Borland was sent clean through. With the Sutton goalkeeper up the for the corner, Borland had the simple task of dribbling the ball the length of the half to score. Goals: Richards 54’, E.Rowe 90+1’, Borland 90+4’ Team: Proctor, Ealing, Munroe, T.Rowe, Feeney, Alcock, Jimoh, Bogarde (sub: Borland), Richards (sub: E.Rowe), T.O’Reilly, Broggio (sub: Wilson). Unused subs: Emery (gk), Katsukunya.

Popular Post Villan_of_oz Posted January 12 VT Supporter Popular Post Share Posted January 12 (edited) The new under 21's head coach is Josep Gombau, he's well known in Oz, especially at my home club Adelaide United. He didn't just manage our first team (very well) but he oversaw changes right throughout the club and importantly improved our youth academy. useless
No Wright, Feeney, Bogarde, or Tommi O'Reilly, maybe got loans lined up. Hopefully Wilson starting means he's close to signing a contract extenstion now he's turned eighteen. Four first year scholars starting, another two on the bench. BOF Posted January 24 Author Moderator Share Posted January 24 Hull City victory stats updated. A very interesting squad yesterday containing 4 names completely new to the U21 squad this season. Unai's son, Lander Emery was goalkeeping sub. Theo (TJ) Carroll was an unused midfield sub and midfielder George Hemmings came on in the game to make his u21 debut. Thierry Katsukunya started the game in his first matchday squad. As well as those 4 we had goal machine Rory Wilson making his first start, Charlie Pavey making only his 2nd substitute appearance of the season and second matchday squad. Jamaldeen Jimoh making his first start and second appearance, and Chisom Afoka returning to the team for the first time since August having been on loan at Bradford City. Next up is the daunting task of an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur's Lamex stadium this Saturday (27th) at 1pm. Spurs are top of the league so far this season with a 100% record. 10 wins from 10 with 4 of those coming at home from 13 goals scored and 3 conceded. It remains to be seen how decimated our side will be after the loan market is closed. But at least we seem to have goals in the side even when we use the less experienced players. Also, postponed Stoke City game has been re-scheduled for February 23rd which means after Spurs we will have 4 consecutive home games including the PL Cup tie with Swansea City ... which is nice.
