That's the trouble with unrealistic expectations, people get disappointed when it inevitably doesn't happen. We we were never going to be in the top 4 race and I think we will finish about 8th or 9th.

Which would be outstanding given where we were but tinged with disappointment with what could have been.

We never had a chance of top 4 anyway. Top 6 at the very best. Going to be a ti8gy game against Newcastle. A draw would be a good result

Nah, we lost 4-0 last time to them. The Don doesn't take us losing in the last fixture lightly. Just ask Chelsea and Leicester. Hell even Wet Spam we didn't lose under him.

Who would have thought that packing your side with tall but slow players and relying on set pieces was never going to be sustainable long term

West Hams defenders in particular looked like they were running in treacle

West Ham (as well as Leicester) are a cautionary tale against getting too comfortable in these heady heights of the (lower) European positions. They've both been playing in Europe for about 3 seasons now and all of a sudden are in serious danger of being relegated. Meanwhile the clubs they were competing with at that end of the table (Spurs, Chelsea) as well as the likes of Liverpool are having poor seasons, but the lowest among them is 11th. You have to be very careful in this league if you're not 1 of the Sky 6. I imagine you'd probably need a decade of European football a la Tottenham to get any sort of solid footing in this league.

Top 4 was never happening.

Well, it's one thing for us to pull off a grim reaper ten in the Championship and another thing altogether to repeat the feat in the Premier League! Oh well. 😕
