It's just utter nonsense from them.

It's not clear and obvious so they should stick with the wrong decision, even though it's wrong. 

That goal was offside but it was only slightly offside so we'll let you off.

May as well just let any shots count as a goal where the ball doesn't fully cross the line...

A pundit, I forget who, actually was saying that the other day. When Stones cleared the ball in the game vs Liverpool and it was like 3mm from going in.
