Israel has reportedly hit 14 Shahed production sites in Syria today, it looks like Vlad's terror drones are due a drop in production.

Edit: not in Syria, in and around Isfahan, Iran.

I can't see any reports of that. I can see a report of Israel hitting a weapons convoy crossing from Syria into Iraq but the only reports of Iranian drone manufacturing sites being hit are the one's we already know about from the other day.

Yep, didn't happen in Syria. In Iran apparently.

Iran does produce military equipment and train a lot of personnel in Syria though, Israel's hit a drone facility in Syria producing Iranian drones before:

SRAELI MISSILE ATTACK HITS IRANIAN DRONES ASSEMBLY FACILITY IN SYRIA

Quote

The operation that assembled Iranian drones was destroyed in the Israeli missile attack on Syrian territory on October 21, the U.K.-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported today.

“According to SOHR sources, military logistics and equipment used to assemble Iranian-made drones in Dimas military airport area in western Rif Dimashq were destroyed after being directly targeted by Israeli missiles. A radar and airstrip were also targeted at the airport,” the report reads.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard uses Syria as their base for a lot of things, including this.

Still makes no sense (though not by as much) - there's not going to be 14 sites making Shaheed UAVs. Because of the tooling and all the rest of it needed, production will be at probably just one site, 2 max I'd say. Factories making specialist stuff are expensive to build.

Could be child parts of the overall assembly? Maybe some sensors or GPS or motors or something like that

A place near me has been repeatedly targeted by protestors as it produces UAV engines which the protestors say are supplied to Israel.

More recently there are huge metal fences erected all around the building.

Putin versus The West

Quote

My Backyard

Putin vs the WestSeries 1

 Episode 1 of 3

This first episode tells the story of how, when Putin first attacked Ukraine in 2014, Europe’s leaders clashed over how to stop him. Amidst massive demonstrations demanding closer ties with the EU in Kyiv, Ukraine’s president flees to Russia. Putin exploits the power vacuum to make the most audacious move of his presidency to date: sending troops into Crimea.

We go behind the scenes for the critical summits and fraught phone calls as the west tries to find a way to push back. The crisis heightens as the fighting spreads to Donbas in Eastern Ukraine and Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 is shot down. Key players including David Cameron, Francois Hollande, Jose Manuel Barroso and Ukraine’s then-president Petro Poroshenko relive the EU's indecision and the all-night negotiations with the warring parties: a ceasefire is signed in Minsk, but Russian forces remain in Donbas.

Putin, meanwhile, appears more confident than ever. The lesson is clear, says French president Francois Hollande: 'When we do not punish at first, we are forced to punish more severely later.'

The walk-back seems to be that they've hit a 'workshop' site outside Isfahan, with several active warehouses of drone related production in close proximity.

Covert Israeli Operations Against Iranian Missiles And Drone Plants Might Help Ukraine

Quote

There are a number of sites related to Iran's missile and drone program near Isfahan. Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries (HESA) has a production facility in Shahin Shahr. On May 23, 2021, an explosion struck that complex mere days after Israel said that Iran was supplying drones to Hamas in Gaza.

Here's reportedly (though sketchy validation) a video from one of the places hit last night.

Russian Marines Just Attempted Another Frontal Assault On Ukrainian Positions Around Pavlivka. The Result Was Predictably Bloody.

Quote

Three months after it got wrecked trying and failing to punch through Ukrainian defenses, the Russian navy’s unhappiest marine brigade is back in action. And apparently getting beaten, again.

The bewildering and tragic plight of the 155th Marine Brigade is a reminder of one of the fundamental flaws in Russia’s war effort, nearly a year into the wider invasion of Ukraine.

Russian planners and commanders seem to be incapable of learning even the simplest battlefield lessons. For example: support your infantry with artillery. Don’t attack uphill. Try flanking the enemy.

The 155th Marine Brigade back in November suffered devastating losses in sloppy, frontal attacks against entrenched Ukrainians around Pavlivka, in eastern Ukraine’s Donbas region. Last week, the brigade tried the same dumb tactics against an even more fortified foe in nearby Vuhledar—and seemingly suffered yet another horrific defeat.

“Another—there have been several dozen of them in 11 months—attempt to ram the long-term defense of the armed forces of Ukraine on the Donetsk front with frontal strikes resulted only in local tactical successes with very serious losses,” Igor Strelkov, a former colonel in Russia's FSB intelligence agency and a prominent Russian ultranationalist, lamented on his Telegram channel.

I wonder what the commanders in this division feels about this all? Surely when you've lost almost all your men twice, you start wondering if a change of tactics might be in order?
