Today's most gruesome video is one where a Ukrainian drone flies over a halted Russian armoured attack in Avdiivka, it seems the Russians have tried to cross a lake on the ice, then been absolutely taken apart by mortars and artillery. It seems the BMP-1s Russia have now resorted to using are nothing more than a metal coffin.

Attacking over the ice in human waves sounds familiar, eh Putin? Your idol Stalin tried the same in Finland and lost more soldiers to breaking ice than actual fighting. The Russian army seems so inept and blind to history that it's almost too good to be true.

Is that the video of at least 7 IFVs destroyed or is that a different incident?

Yes, it's the same. There was a longer version earlier today, but it got removed. I'm not sure why they keep removing things from Combatfootage? The start of the video shows the lake where there's several BMP sized holes in the ice with tracks leading to them, and then several more lines where they got off the beach and got trounced by mortars.

I gather that around 10 BMP's were lost along with all crew just in this exchange.. 1 BMP normally carries 8 people.

Ukraine boasts that it used a drone to steal a radio from a dead Russian soldier, letting it listen in on enemy plans

Ukraine said Monday that it was able to use a drone to steal a Russian radio left behind in battle.

A video shows the moment the drone picked up the radio, which was lying next to a dead Russian.

Ukraine said the radio was still working and that it listened in on its enemy's plans for nine days.

Ukraine boasted that it used a drone to steal a working radio from a dead Russian, allowing it to listen in on the enemy's plans for several days.

The moment was captured on video, which was first posted by the K-2 combat unit of the 54th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Monday. [...]

Bulgaria to the rescue: How the EU’s poorest country secretly saved Ukraine
Sofia provided fuel and vital Soviet specification arms to Kyiv, but had to keep supplies secret because of pro-Moscow politicians in government.

Last spring, Ukraine’s army was running desperately low on the fuel and Soviet caliber ammunition it needed to fight the Russians.

Salvation came from an unexpected quarter: Bulgaria.

Thanks to its fractured domestic politics — and the pro-Russian leanings of much of its elite — Sofia has been at pains over the course of the invasion to stress that it is not arming Ukraine.[...]

[...]

While the Socialist Party in Sofia called Bulgarian arms deliveries to Ukrainian forces a “red line,” Petkov’s officials avoided government-to-government transactions and used intermediary companies in Bulgaria and abroad to open up supply routes by air and land through Romania, Hungary, and Poland.

“We estimate that about a third of the ammunition needed by the Ukrainian army in the early phase of the war came from Bulgaria,” Petkov told WELT.

Just as sensitively, the diesel that Bulgaria supplied to Ukraine was processed from Russian crude oil at a Black Sea refinery, which at the time belonged to the Russian company Lukoil. “Bulgaria became one of the largest exporters of diesel to Ukraine and at times covered 40 percent of Ukraine’s needs,” former Finance Minister Vassilev told WELT.

The government in Kyiv confirmed that version of events. Kuleba told WELT his country was in danger of running out of ammunition last April. “We knew that Bulgarian warehouses had large quantities of the ammunition needed so President [Volodymyr] Zelenskyy sent me to obtain the necessary material,” Kuleba said.[...]

The great Russian navy has another problem. Its only aircraft carrier is disintergrating due to bad materials, bad construction and corruption.

As Russia's only aircraft carrier falls apart, some Russians want to undo a shady ship deal with China from 25 years ago

Quote

Russia's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, is in such bad shape that it may be easier to buy a replacement than fix it.

In a sign of how low Russia's military has sunk, a politician in the country has suggested doing so by buying a Soviet-designed carrier that was sold to China 25 years ago.

It's all good though, they trained a whale to take down NATO's boats.

Russian training ground attacked by kamikaze drones

Russian media report a massive attack with the loitering munitions on a military training ground where the mobilized servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces were trained.

NIP Tysk reported this.

It is reported that this training ground is located 100 kilometers away from the front line.

The Russian side claims that their air defense successfully shot down seven UAVs. Another undisclosed number of drones reached the target but did not cause significant damage. [...]

Sure as eggs is eggs that last bit isn't true. Russian media wouldn't even be reporting it if the last bit were true
