OutByEaster? Posted August 7, 2023 Moderator Share Posted August 7, 2023 Yep, back ten rows of the Upper Holte - that's where the council have been most concerned about persistent standing.

That thing in the middle looks odd, might be ok when it's finished I'd be surprised if they hadn't. Not exactly much time to put it in between now and the first home game. I'd guess if it's not complete it won't be far off. Maybe whoever took the photo to get outraged about the disabled section thought the rail seating looked OK so didn't want to include it in the picture Edited August 7, 2023 by MrBlack

thabucks
The new disabled area is on a raised platform - so unless Victor Wembanyama is standing in front it will be fine… When they look at the Holte End as part of the next phases of redevelopment I can see them adding 2/3 more rows to the front of the upper tier, which instantly solves the Terrace View ticketing issue. Captain_Townsend
Would those new rows be an overhand type thing?

If it were to extend any further forward it could begin to block out 'THE'. Then again, I suppose there could be a bit of wiggle room if 'THE' was moved down by a few rows without it looking stupid and out of place? Captain_Townsend
I used to love the way Aston Villa was spelled out in the old Trinity. Shame the new one doesn't spell it out. Edited August 8, 2023 by Captain_Townsend

The is already wonky because of the new disabled area according to a photo my mate sent last night. They've built the area but not moved the word so the top is missing. I was more referring to what @thabucks was suggesting in extending the upper Holte further forward by a few rows and the impact that might possibly have on the lower Holte wording. I believe that's where the wheelchair users will be positioned, so unless they're given claret coloured cards to hold in front of themselves, there won't be a top of the 'T'. Extending the Upper Holte further forward by a few rows would not cover the top the 'THE' as view from the pitch, only from an aerial view immediately above the stand. However, it now appears extending the Upper Holte further forward by a few rows will no longer be possible, as it would impede the access and view of the new wheelchair platform area.

Could still be extended either side of the Terrace though. You'd only get maybe two rows before you impede the lower tier though I think. And Rigo was presumably suggesting that they'll drop the lettering lower down, so the top of the T will now be below where the accessible Terrace is. There is an issue with this as they lost about 6 rows from the top of the stand... but they only have 3 or 4 rows available below the H, so they'll have to squash it in when it's reworked somehow, assuming they want to keep them aligned. I thought the rail seating rows were being installed, row by row from the back of the Upper Holte, starting this summer?

I don't think they're obscured, just the resolution of the picture is so low you probably couldn't tell if they were there anyway. Don't really know when the picture was taken either. It surfaced yesterday but might be a few days older.

Rail seating looks quite different to normal seating and even with the fairly low resolution image I'd expect to see a difference, especially given the shade of new claret would be unlikely to be exactly match the older rows of normal seating. Regarding the age of the photo, I assuming it's fairly recent as it shows extensive work has been completed on the wheelchair area, which hadn't started until after the Motocross on the 1st July. I suppose it could have been taken a week or so ago with the rail seating installed in these final couple of weeks before our first home game on Sunday 20th August. It probably wouldn't take long to rip out the old seats and bolt in the already manufactured rail seating for the few rows being done this season.
brommy
Any VillaTalkers who sit near the back of the Upper Holte - have you been informed your seat is changing to rail seating and what row is it (i.e. how many rows from the back are affected this season)? OutByEaster? Posted August 8, 2023 Moderator Share Posted August 8, 2023 When they talked about it at the last fans meeting Purslow suggested that there might be delays because there are only a limited number of companies doing the work and it seems every club in the Premier league is adding rail seating this summer - we might be into the season before it happens.
limpid Posted August 8, 2023 Administrator Share Posted August 8, 2023 Does anyone know where the step free access (presumably lifts) is going into the Holte for access to the disabled section? Have they cut new shafts as part of the TV?
