R.I.C.O. Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Who are they? A massive billboard is advertising an album by them at priory queensway in Birmingham, right near Matthew Boulton College. It is a very strange billboard, not very good on the eyes - especially after a night out on the sauce. I have to look at it every morning as I come into brum on the bus. All I know is that they have a silly name. Are they not very good on the ears too?
NurembergVillan Posted June 4, 2007 Moderator Posted June 4, 2007 I like them, and I've got a good taste in music Saw them live at The Academy and was suitably impressed. And they're Brummies. You can find out more here - www.myspace.com/thetwang and here - www.thetwang.co.uk
dont_do_it_doug. Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 they're Brummies. So are Ocean Colour Scene :winkold:
ml1dch Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 A bit like Oasis without the tunes or the talent. Sorry, I'll rephrase. A bit like Oasis.
Risso Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I like the music, however, the lead singer sounds like Holly Johnson to me.
bobolox Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 theyre alright i think, either way - thats a great song, escpecially when the singer says maybe even right your a love letter, proper brummie, and the fact they sing villa songs lie is ace!!!!
bobolox Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 they all support one of each lead singer is villa, guitarist is blue, drummer is baggies, but they sing villa songs on stage cus what the lead singer says, goes usually, i should knw im a drummer and have no friggin say in the background
tonyh29 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 should knw im a drummer and have no friggin say in the background you can blame Phil Collins for that , look what happened when they let him sing
avfc443 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 My old head of year at school is the brother of one- Something Etheridge?? Anyway my old teachers a huge villa fan so I assume his brother could be.
bobolox Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 true that haha i cant sing!! all us drummers have no talent!! were lazy, sit down on our backsides and have a little world of our own, sayin that though, its bloody tiring!!
dont_do_it_doug. Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Drummers are to bands what Labourers are to the building trade. Often given a bad rep, but generaly they work hard and without them bugger all gets finished. My mate loves the Twang, might give them a listen.
tonyh29 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 Often given a bad rep Yeah just ask Ringo Starr ..I've read that the drumming in "She Said , She Said" is bloody impossible to play and yet Starr seems to have to live under the banner of not being any good
stewiek2 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 They are great. They were cracking at the Sanctuary the other Saturday. Ginger one is Villa, the other singer is Blues, the rest are Baggies.
timharding Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 They're effin awesome and the bands name refers to brummy 'twang'
sam100 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 the front man Phil is a villa fan, he use to sit not far from me in the lower Holte before they got quite big The Twang - Aimless with an Aim my favourite tune at the moment, its probably going to be on their album when it comes out..
kingtom Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 seen them 5-6 times now..... never understood the buzz, dont grab me at all. i caught a bit of their set on sunday, and yeah they soiund fairly tight now, as would any band when they get that big though to be honestl i just dont think they have the songs, hype machine in overload if you ask me that said, fair play to them for doing as well as they have, bham needs more bands to break through so the good ones might actually get a listen
GlasgowVilla Posted June 5, 2007 Posted June 5, 2007 Not heard too much of them yet, bet the guitarist, Stuart, used to be in a band with me in the early 90s. Don't know if it gets heard in their music, but he's a cracking musician.
