Thought I just heard on the radio that only 3 teams managed to complete a "race" with the new fuel allowance in practise

Does this mean we are going to be getting races where nobody finishes , or someone just plods around at 80 mph and wins by default because everyone else has run out of fuel ?

It'll be like last year (where generally they didn't fill the cars to the brim with fuel out of choice, so most of the runners were "under-fuelled" for a full flat-out race distance) - teams will bank on a few quiet laps under a safety car - or they'll have a few "slower" laps in the middle of the race to make sure they'll finish.

They do plenty of simulations for the "optimal" race time - taking everything into account, including lugging "too much" fuel around in case they have to actually 'race' for the full distance.

Crazy!

Very!  And here we were worrying about people running out of fuel!

Plenty of overtaking so far - but whether that was down to cars not qualifying in the "right" places due to the rain yesterday is another matter.

Plus, good to see kobaysmashi make a triumphant return

bottas has caught räikkönen by 3 secs over 2 laps!

There are some crazy power differences this year - think if we have a few fully dry weekends it could be a case of waiting for the merc engines to fall apart rather than getting any racing action in the early part of the season.
