Surely it depends who she's talking to, right? I'm a bit of a talker myself I'll admit, but if I'm talking to a really close mate or a girl I'm really into I could talk for a good few hours. In fact that sort of natural rhythm to conversation is a good indicator of how compatible I am with someone.
  2. So the museum near work was back with another film in their Hypnotica season last night: Don't Look Now. I'm sure im going to get slammed for this by @Designer1 and some of you others who know far more about classic films than I do, but I thought it was largely cack. I followed it, just about. It was quite confusing in parts and I put that down to a poorly written story and bad editing, but I just thought it was silly and boring. So many parts are just plain daft and randomly appear with no previous alluding to, specifically the very end reveal which is just bonkers. I left the cinema bored, disappointed, slightly amused but not in a good way and also thinking the film was an excuse for the crew to have a three month jolly in Venice. In fact, the footage of Venice was the only thing I enjoyed about it. They captured it well, but there were at least three sequences of them getting lost there and each one was far too long. Also, why is it called Don't Look Now? Terrible title and the only way I can even slightly relate it to the film is cheesy. So yeah, to say I was disappointed would be an understatement.
  3. Sausages better than bacon?! This thread really has descended into utter madness.
  4. Agreed, even the Divine Beasts are pretty short dungeons in themselves. If they were as long and detailed as the usual fare in Zelda games it'd be better. Also, they're all very similar in terms of aesthetics which is a little disappointing.
  5. Batman is one of those characters that can never be ruined for me. He's been going so long and reinvented myriad times that one bad conception of the character won't do any harm. Besides, Affleck was the best thing about that movie, though Batman mercilessly butchering bad guys with machine guns is totally against one of the character's main staples. West's camp rendition of Batman lives on in infamy, but it's not like I thought about it for one second whilst watching the Nolan films. Likewise I won't let Zack Snyder's daft interpretation ruin them or indeed any other version of Batman I love.
  6. That did nothing to convince me I've been wrong not to find Reeves and Mortimer funny all these years. Seems the studio audience agreed. Cringeworthy and creepy, felt sorry for her. Classy.
  7. The original Berserk anime series is so **** boring! The fights are poorly animated and have too many stills in what should be fluid, kinetic, thrilling scenes and most of it just follows Guts as he joins the Hawks and when it finally starts getting interesting they cancelled it. Probably because they thought they'd never do it justice and obviously not enough people watched it. Love the setting, the art style, even enjoy the characters and some of the story threads but they didn't do it anywhere near justice and the fight scenes are shite. They should be the best bit! I've seen better fights in Bleach.
  8. Her first big break was on Eastenders in the 90s before launching a short-lived pop career with Perfect Moment. Then she starred in Love, Actually as Hugh Grant's love interest. RIP.
  9. Never seen it. I realise people like these films, I just find them jarring and I can't get sucked in by the story because of that. Super was another film I couldn't get into. That film's tone shifts pretty dramatically towards the final act and I found myself wondering if they'd switched directors halfway through.
  10. Got to love stupid school day giggles. My favourite was when I was in Design Technology and our teacher, who was quite a nice bloke really, got a bit fed up of us doing something wrong and ended his little rant with, 'C'mon guys, it's not rocket science, is it?' To which my friend sat next to me straight away threw is hands up in the air and said, 'Ah for God's sake, I'm in the wrong bloody class!' He then proceeded to gather his things and walk out, totally committing to the bit. He got to the door, turned round with a cheeky grin and sat back down. It was such a random but quick-witted and ballsy thing to do the entire class burst out laughing, including the teacher.
  11. I watched the trailer to Get Out a couple of times and had no idea if it was meant to be scary or funny. I can't do films like that. Not that you can't have elements of each genre in a single film per se, but films that don't feel to me like they know what they're trying to be. I hated Kickass for a similar reason. The premise for Get Out did intrigue me so I've read the entire plot. I'm not particularly regretting anything by doing so, I don't think it's my sort of film.
  12. Agree with all of this, though I'd say the bag thing isn't that they think their bag is more deserving of a seat, it's to stop someone from sitting next to them because they're selfish clearings in the woods. But I'm guessing you knew that really. As for people playing their music without headphones and blaring it out in shitty quality in public, there's a massive poser nobhead at my gym who does that in the changing rooms and the showers. He also uses one of those oxygen restriction masks (that apparently don't actually work all that well) and it makes him look like such a tool, and a bit like Predator since has has dreads. In short, people being selfish and thoughtless in public pisses me right off.
  13. I'm going to run out of likes soon chaps. You're all great. If any one of you had a vadge I'd be round there like a shot.
  14. Thanks guys, it means a lot. She's a lovely girl, as you say she just has a lot of baggage and it makes me want to help her and be there for her more but it's not something I can change. It's just such a shame as when we forget all the worrying and the stuff that hasn't even happened and probably won't we're great together. I'm still going to be her friend, but I've been the guy friend who wants to be the boyfriend too many times in my life and it never works. I'll get back on the dating scene soon enough. Thanks again fellas.
  15. She's really not, though I know how it looks and you'll think I'm defending her but it's just not the situation. She's just got a lot of shit going on up there. Anyway, sorry for boring you with the ups and downs, chaps.
  16. Aite, last time, I promise, because frankly I'm even more **** bored and tired about this whole debacle than you lot are. The girl from work has called it off stating she's all over the place and not ready to see anyone. One week I make her insanely happy but then when we start to make a little progress romantically she gets way too upset about things and makes herself really unhappy by what could or should be. I gave it my best shot and told her all relationships have teething issues in the beginning but let's face it, this is something bigger than me. I really care about her and she cares about me too but it's just getting a little much. Part of me is a little relieved that I'm not constantly worrying if/when she'll change her mind again, but I'd be kidding myself if I said I wasn't gutted we didn't give this a proper shot. Sigh, such a turnaround since Friday night. Oh well.
  17. Interesting. I love the show and enjoyed this season but it felt different and I didn't find it as funny as the seasons before it. It's still brilliant and there were some laugh out loud moments (Mac's exercise bike), but yeah, fell a bit flat for me.
  18. Well I can't think of any reason why she's not having much luck finding a nice guy to have a relationship with...

    Entrance music

Iron Man by Sabbath. Great tune, instantly recognisable, dare I say even iconic intro, even if we only get people singing 'I am iron man' it'd be atmospheric, good thematically to get the players and fans ready for the game and by arguably the best band Birmingham has produced. And obviously Geezer is a massive Villan, Ozzy too, maybe. No brainer for me.
  20. Okay okay, I'm done. Sorry. I forgot this was really the unofficial confessions thread
  21. Yeah but i got lucky that she's smart enough to read between the lines. Anyway, we went out again Saturday night and had fun but I was a bit of an idiot on a couple of occasions and trying too hard. I woke up this morning feeling terrible and wanting to talk to her but then doesn't explaining stuff like that also count as trying too hard? Fortunately, she's ace, and after leaving her alone all day she messaged me and wanted to reiterate we're on the same page because even though we had fun last night, those couple of goofs from me did make her worry a bit. I explained and said she was right and I'm sorry. Looks like I didn't totally ruin things which is a huge relief. It sounds horrible, but I've been so used to dating girls that I'm a bit iffy on that it means I'm pretty much relaxed and carefree and they enjoy me just being me, which is why those relationships get off the ground even if I know they won't go anywhere. I haven't dated a girl I've liked this much in so long I just forgot she wanted to date me, not some phone try-hard version of me that just winds up scaring her off before we've even gotten anywhere. Either way, big realisation today and thank Christ she's cool and open enough to talk about it with me and give me another shot. I realise this has been kinda sappy so have a DHUTWU to balance it out.
  22. I agree, Rich, but from the sounds of it Alex thought this girl was something special and she's turned out to be quite the opposite. I can understand how that can be pretty devastating and it makes you question yourself which is the worst thing anyone can do to you. I've definitely been there myself. There are some genuinely lovely people out there though and we should always remember these experiences so we can appreciate that rather than take them for granted.
  23. Oh you boys of mine. So I mentioned I went on a date but didn't really feel anything and I was still very much into the girl from work but she had her reasons for not dating me. Well, last night was a night out with a bunch of people from work, this girl included. I told you that despite agreeing to just be friends we were just the same as we always have been, but I might have been reading into it things that I shouldn't. Well, I rock up fashionably late to the night out and after an hour or so I finally get some alone time with this girl and she basically told me this week she's been miserable at the thought of us not dating and life's too short, we have so much fun together etc. She also says she knew I went on a date, which made her incredibly jealous, and she went out on a second date with this guy that was perfectly nice and attractive but she just kept thinking of me the whole time. Long story short, we snogged each other's faces off all night and we're just going to see what happens but she seems super excited and happy about it, which is a good sign, right? So yeah, to say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement
  24. Maybe a bit premature, but... Just got home from a wonderful night. More tomorrow if you're interested.
  25. I doubt I'll see Kong, but I saw the trailer before Logan and thought it was pretty good. I liked the editing of the cuts so the sound effects synced up with the music and I thought the jokes were quite well timed. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the movie kinda sucked though. I doubt I'll be seeing it.
