  1. There are some right weirdos who come to the Contemporary gallery every week to watch films. Me and my mates have been to every one in the current season of classic movies and there are three stand out characters who are always there too: - An old guy who falls asleep and snores through every film (Snoozey McSnoreyton) - Some thirty-something chubby bearded guy who gasps way too loud when something shocking happens (Gaspy McShock) - and the worst by far is this nerdy guy in his forties perhaps who has the most ridiculous high-pitched hyena laugh who not only has that ridiculous piercing guffaw, but also finds unfunny things hilarious so he giggles like a clearing in the woods when no one else is. He doesn't have a name really, I just refer to him as the Giggling clearing in the woods. Not sure I'd kill him but I've certainly wanted to throw my shoe at his head a few times.
  2. Day off today whilst I get a new washing machine delivered. Fancied a crafty shuffle in bed during my lie-in, try to get onto a couple of websites and Sky has blocked them for me. Checked my settings... all fine, but still won't let me on. **** useless jeb-ends. Can't even spank it in my own home.

My friend's ridiculously expensive and complex water bottle looks like a Transformer when opened.
  4. I like Silicon Valley but last season was more drama than comedy. First season was brilliant but since then it's got less funny. Still enjoy it, mind you.
  5. Be a bit weird to eradicate the Jedi now considering the Force has only just reawakened.
  6. I love the poster, and as Rich says, it's a teaser, not a proper trailer. But c'mon, it's **** Star Wars!
  7. I think Brolin is great and a good cast for Cable. It also shows Fox are stepping it up as presumably casting such a big name actor as the secondary lead means the budget for the sequel will eclipse that of the first movie. Hopefully that doesn't mean studio executives will stick their nose in too much. Stephen Lang isn't a big enough name and I think most of the people who want him are primarily basing it on his resemblance to the character, which means nothing. I love Nathan Fillion but Cable is the straight man and Fillion is too comedic an actor for that. Brolin is a good shout.
  8. Yup, couldn't find one from any place I recognised or thought was legit. It's fine though, I still haven't finished Breath of the Wild so it's probably for the best I don't own P5 until I do.
  9. Nah, there's an episode titled IFT and you only find out what it stands for with the last line before the credits roll.
  10. I can only imagine the sheer amount of perverted cake photos you have on your phone.
  11. I'm not sure why, but in my second time through Breaking Bad, I sympathised a lot more with Skylar. First time round I was Team Walt all the way. I mean, she did FT, after all.
  12. All that's missing from that cake is one cup.
  13. Knew I should have preordered this. Just had a look around online and every reputable site is out of stock. Not sure I want to risk some of the lesser known places. Guess I'll just have to wait for more stock.
  14. She is very nice but totally in limbo regarding her life currently. Not that it matters, I don't have a choice in starting a relationship with her anyway. Like Alex said, moving to London will make things easier, though I will miss her a lot and hanging out with her. It's not the first time I've been in this sort of position though. I got past it once and I'll do it again I'm sure. Be nice to meet someone who had their shit together so we could just focus on getting it on but that's life I guess.
  15. So some of you may remember I had a bit of a thing with a girl at work a few weeks back and it was very back and forth. Eventually she decided to just be friends and things have been really good between us since, even though we're exactly the same and the spark is still there. Well recently she told me she's planning on leaving Nottingham to live in London. She's not happy with her job and she's from here and wants a change. She's in her mid-twenties and wants to stretch her wings a bit, totally understandable. She's not going anywhere for a while yet as she hasn't sorted anything out, but her heart is set on it. We've gotten very close lately without doing anything romantic, and obviously I'm going to miss her a lot when she does go, but in a way it's some resolution to our situation. For a while now I've still had feelings for her and it's like we've been dating without officially calling it that but it can't stay that way forever. This is a way to move on I suppose. It's oddly freeing. Anyway, I'm sad to say goodbye obviously, but it is what it is. Like I said, clearly it's time to move on and being apart will make that easier in ways.
  16. Just watched The Accountant with Ben Affleck. Realy enjoyed it. Good action scenes, interesting characters and a plot that kept me wondering till the end. Great little standalone thriller/action movie.
  17. So easy to binge watch that show. Boyle and Holt are my favourites. Haven't seen any of season 4 but recently 'acquired' then from a mate. Can't wait.

    Do you read?

Glad I'm not the only one. I'll stick with it for the foreseeable, I just have little inclination to read it. I like getting totally absorbed by a book.
  19. Just about to come and post this. Just finished watching it and needless to say it's amazing.
  20. I'm really put off doing the memories, seems a bit dull. They must be in some pretty well-hidden places though as I think I've explored a fair bit and only found maybe two or three.

    Do you read?

Well, as I said, DFW really was a wonderful writer. He switches styles effortlessly between chapters and if it's your sort of thing I think you'll really like it. For me though, I prefer more traditional storytelling with a clear narrative and subplots woven in. Infinite Jest jumps about from chapter to chapter not only in terms of characters and locations that are unrelated (at least not immediately but I'm not even halfway through it), but different places in time too. Add to that the difficult vocabulary and the varied writing styles (some chapters have sentences that almost go on for three-quarters of a page) and it's just too unstructured and a wee bit artsy/pretentious for my liking.

    Do you read?

I'm reading Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace at the moment. Im starting to get a bit more into it but it's not really my sort of thing. A shame really as he's a wonderful writer (I've read a couple of his essays) and clearly was a very clever bloke. It's just a bit too unstructured and intellectual for me. My vocabulary is getting a tune up though, that's for sure. I get that this style of writing is meant to be a bit surreal but it's just not for me. I don't see myself finishing it.
  23. I can understand why you'd be pissed off, she did talk to you first. I can imagine she probably gets a lot of that stuff by guys genuinely trying it on with her and unfortunately you got lumped in with them. Though if she goes round showing the goods so freely she can expect that sort of behaviour I suppose. I'm sure she enjoys the attention either way.
