when i was about 15, one of me mates had trials at the blues. He's a mad keen villa fan They wanted him to sign (or whatever teenage players did back then) but he failed a medical. he'd had a couple of knee ops and a couple of broken legs. I saw the new blues owners (not yeung tho, The new CEO and another guy) interviewed on telly yesterday. I hope this is not just me being biased, but they seriously seemed to not have a clue what they were talkin about! Everything about them just seemed Mickey mouse!......the one guy finished of the interview by screaming out "and buy the tickets!!!".......kinda like Bob geldof on live aid!......the other guy just fell about laughin. They just seemed totally unprofessional!

James was briliiant but prone to odd howler, then turned all sulky Bo**ocks and demanded a move coz we didn't live up to his ambition...........so he went to west ham? Enkleman was a good shot stopper, but, IMO hadn't got the guts for it, just turned to carp under pressure, he cocked up for the goal in the cup final for Cardiff as I remember. And as for the mellberg throw.......I'm astonished he's got any votes at all Sorenson wasn't a bad keeper. probably suffered for never having a decnt defence in front of him!......The poor sod played behind Jlloyd samual and Ridgewell for pity's sake! Carson started off well, then was destroyed by the England / croatia game. I still say if he'd been a kid who'd come through our youth ranks, Villa fans would have been more forgiving / protective of him, he'd probably still be here and be a good goalie!.....the fact the scouse wanted 10 million quid for him just made him look like the worst value for money ever! Schmeicel was way past his best, was fun while he was here though I thought!......Best thing about him was the fact that he was all over the back of all the papers when he signed for us.......and that was even though Man U had broken the british transfer record the same day to sign Veron (IIRC) Friedel is solid, and consistent, and a good pro to have round the place. He gets my vote, although it's a shame he's not 5 years younger!

the only problem I see with 4-5-1... or at least the way we play it, is that it leaves no place for Carew.....and certainly not Heskey. Gabby's the only striker I think can play this formation for us. Bizarrely, I think Harewood could possibly play it too....but that aint ever gonna happen!

in a 4-5-1 I think gabby is our best striker. I don't think he'll score many goals in this formation though, but his pace does tend to stretch defences allowing midfield to push on. As much as I love him, Carew doesn't work in a 4-5-1......and as for Heskey.......

I'd sooner win the cup games, lose to Chelsea, and make the 3 points up by beating United at Old trafford! Or just beat Everton and Chelsea?

This is my first post in this thread. General The happenings over the last 2 seasons have given us back the club that we were all so proud of. Thank you and everyone else accociated with the club for that. Sunday's result was a cherry on top of the cake for us! It feels great to be a Villa fan again. 2 years ago I thought days like this were gone for good!
