Weird post of the day. Why? Now I hate the Champions League and it should go back to the old format but still. Why? To be fair I hate how 4th place has become Arsenal's number one target each season. Anything else is a bonus. Wenger couldn't care less about winning anything as long as the club get 4th (or higher). 4th CL place should be a playoff situation like promotion from Championship. Either 4th vs 5th or 4th to 7th playoff for it.

So they do have something to play for. Which makes it all the more puzzling that they have been serving up such rubbish, lifeless football. (I suppose they did try a bit harder against Swansea but that just exposed our lack of creativity in midfield and cutting edge up front.) Don't forget about our inability to defend basic situations.

Alonso can just do a "John Terry" and wear the full kit on the bench anyway.

At this rate our new owners will be able to get Guardiola in when Lambert goes. :-)

Interesting that some posters still do not think another manager could do any better with our squad than Lambert, I wonder how many Palace fans thought that a change of manager would be a waste of time for them. To be fair Palace have looked a lot more solid since they brought in Dann and Ledley in January. As much as Pulis has worked wonders he has not done it on the cheap. Same as when he was at Stoke where he actually spent a fair bit. We could only afford to bring in Bertrand and Holt in January. Where Lambert has messed up is not bringing in another CB instead of Holt as we aren't utilising him now, even with Benteke and Kozak injured. I make that Tonev, Helenius, Luna and Holt that Lambert has signed now and either used sparingly or not at all. Wasting the limited funds available is one of the reasons why we could go down.

Maybe the journo's should look at how Lambert's Norwich played and compare that to the clueless tripe we serve up 80% of the time. It pisses me off as I'm sure they will describe Man Utd fans as "long suffering" next season after a whole year out of the Champions League.

Nah we need a Newcastle win or draw on Saturday. We needed a Chelsea win yesterday as they will need to beat Norwich on Sunday to go top.

The only glimmer of hope I hold on to is Lerner's slightly non-commital statement a couple of weeks ago. Fingers crossed he is selling.

Sunderland just want us to go down as they are sick of seeing their players forget how to play whenever we face them. Norwich fans hate us for obvious reasons and will probably blame us if they go down because we took Lambert and forced them to appoint Hughton. No idea why Fulham and Cardiff hate us. EDIT - Scratch that. Fulham fans hate us because we loaned them Bent.

And we have to pickup no points from our last 3 games, giving us 1 draw from 9 I believe. Stark contrast to how we finished last season.

Forget about Newcastle. They haven't forgot what we done to them and will get beat. The fans maybe but Pardew and the players will want to get something from their last home game. They have been shit for weeks so will need to appease the fans, especially as losing to Cardiff doesn't really guarantee our relegation as Cardiff still need to beat Chelsea.

That is a funny thing to say.We have lost to lower league opposition in the cups and we cant beat teams like Fulham and Cardiff so what makes you think we can finish above Wigan,Leeds,Forest etc etc ?! Not really. We are a still a very big club and, with the right manager (clutches at straws), we should be one of the favourites to come back up. Why do people always say that there is a huge gulf between the Championship and Premiership when clubs get promoted, but seemingly the same doesn't apply to PL teams who go down? Personally I think there have been some odd factors this season that have contributed to our current position. Lambert and his "management team" have been woeful. However, I agree though that without a good manager we would not come back up with the current squad.

Apart from Hull, we have to play Spurs and Man $ity, so that will be at least 20 games by the end of the season. Fixed.
