  1. No start for Sterling, I am disappoint I'll bite my tongue and hope he starts the next game, really feel he is one of the players we have who can really hurt and surprise the very best
  2. Yeah but this isn't about TV losing sports. I am happy to pay Sky or whoever the same money I currently pay but I would rather watch all Villa games rather than a mix of everyone.
  3. Yeah but that is what I am asking - would it change the number of people who currently attend games? I don't think it would because we can all watch these games now anyway albeit on crappy streams and clubs still get good attendance.
  4. But I don't understand that argument - right now I don't watch any lower league games. And is it really the case that if we could choose pay to watch one teams games that people who currently go to lower league games would stop being fans of those teams so they could watch Newcastle or Southampton on the telly every week?
  5. When I first watched a stream several years ago and I remember thinking in a few years when they get the technology/broadband speeds right this is going to be really excellent. Fast forward 5/6 years and while most games are generally watch-able the quality is still pretty poor. I know the major networks want to make it difficult for us to get good streams so we pay for their "in country" options. But it got me thinking why cant we have access to a Villa season ticket through SkySports for example. I know the Premier League would say they want the focus to be on people going to the games. But pretty much everyone with internet access has been able to watch every game live for the last 6+ years and the clubs have still by in large still been able to fill the grounds. So my question would be is that argument valid and do you think we could ever get to a point where we don't have to watch our own team illegally and get to pay for just the games we do want to watch?
  6. I came across this just now and wanted to share https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuGGDYWZP5U With Messi being a little "off it" in recent months and Ronaldo being very clearly the worlds best right now it is perhaps worth reminding ourselves why he had to live in Messis shadow for so many years. For sure Ronaldo has assets that Messi doesn't have but I don't think he'd be capable of doing 90% of the clips in that video (or anyone else for that matter)
  7. No wont let me post images but essentially it is just a text convo which says what I put in post
  8. One interesting point about Keane (steady Trent this will be on topic I promise!) Howard Hodgson tweeted the following picture pic.twitter.com/eNalkNYhRv that he said he got sent a week ago saying Keane was at Villa Park with the new owners. So fingers crossed new investment is nearer than we think. More important than Lambert or Keane is some actual money to spend on footballers!!
  9. The club continues to baffle me.. no idea if Keane will be great or a disaster. But I'm amazed that this points to the fact that Lambert will be staying under new owners. I am sure Keane would not join for a two month gig so it points to the fact that they will be both here for the foreseeable. I am amazed Lambert has kept his job after last season, yes he had no money etc but it was clear to everyone he had given up at the end of last season. I'm not prepared to accept that from a manager of our club.
  10. I think Clark was good for most of the season when playing with Vlaar. I'm agreed that he was woeful when played alongside Baker. Trouble is when Lambert dropped Baker for Utd away game, Clark came in and had a shocker. He does struggle with his marking at times and Lambert bought Baker straight back in for the next game. Both are liabilities and have had a number of seasons to cut these errors out of their game. I've still a vague feeling one of them may turn out to be decent but I dont know which one and we cant keep having these seasons while we wait to find out. As I said surely Senderos is better but to be honest I haven't watched him closely enough of him to make a confident judgement on that.
  11. Only way to look at this is as a massive vote of confidence in Okore. Lescott would have improved the squad and given real competition for places but may have pushed Okore out the team and Lescott was obviously too expensive anyway. Senderos presumably is being seen as an upgrade to Baker/Clark. Its difficult to imagine him being worse but also cant say I'm feeling he's going to be that much better either.
  12. RV - yes same happened to me. Nothing sexy about seeing your unborn child move about while you have sex
  13. Anyone reckon they've got it wrong and he's coming to play. Cheap wages, add some much needed steel to the midfield
  14. Hmm maybe some smoke in the Senderos rumours. That Mirror reporter saying we are going to announce a new defender signing and it made him wince! Remember the glory days when we were minutes away from getting bought by Larry Ellison. Yeah.. these ain't those days.
  15. My 10p is on Steve Clarke. Don't see him getting any other Premier League offers any time soon and I think he'd be interested in proving himself by being part of a big turnaround project with a big name club
  16. Yeah I like it and also like the slim fit. The fit on last years shirt was gash
  17. I actually like the idea of having the WC in Middle East so I'd vote for that over Australia. However the corruption in FIFA really sickens me, bearing in mind the size of the sport there can't be many bigger organisations that get away with such blatant illegality. Qatar was a joke from day 1. So from me it's hell no to Qatar but I'd like to think there is a way to make it work in that part of the world
  18. Yeah agreed I think Froch was edging it and you always felt his experience would see him through. That said Groves was looking strong in the last couple of rounds and it was looking set up for a tight finish. It was a good fight, compelling but not quite the war of last one
  19. Thing with Rooney is that it's the type of performance we've seen from him several times before which is why everyone jumps all over him. In my eyes he is a player who needs to be 100% fit and match sharp to have a big impact. At his best he is still one of our best players so we need to invest the match time in him during these games to get him to that point.
  20. I'm going to go with Froch too but on a hunch more than anything. Hope it lives up to the hype because I massively enjoyed that last fight
  21. Con - I hope you're within earshot of Roy so if things don't go to plan after 10 mins or so you just scream non stop profanities at him about why he isn't playing Barkley as a false 9
  22. I predict a sparkling 4-0 win, Sterling to be the new great white hope and expectations of a World Cup win to start building from here. Based on that prediction I have just invested in 4.5 million St George flags which I shall be selling out the front of Asda's across the country
  23. I think the papers are as keen as us to get a lead on this. It would not surprise me in the slightest if that story was lifted from this website. All that aside though I would welcome Villa Park being filled with prostitutes on match days. I think after the last few years we deserve a bit of excitement
  24. Pretty sure Sturridge scored plenty while Suarez was out injured or suspended at the end of last seasons and beginning of this. Sorry Con you are a Jekyll and Hyde poster in my eyes, some interesting points and plenty of others made just for the sake of controversy. I suppose its good to think out of the box but it is difficult to know when to take you seriously.
