  1. Oh well all will be revealed next week by the sounds of it. Feels normal to be back in the situation of expecting disappointment or at very best uncertainty. Felt pretty weird being excited about our prospects the last few days.
  2. Not a lot in his comments - here they are http://talksport.com/football/exclusive-aston-villa-are-rudderless-and-going-nowhere-says-holte-end-hero-14050890275?
  3. Yeah Trent is usually very accurate - even though he says the same thing every time - "you are going to be very dissapointed" which is usually close to the mark with us in the last few years. I get that his first statement could have been to lift the negativity and get us over the line while helping season ticket sales. That makes plenty of sense even if it would back fire in a hail of negativity in the close season. Only thing which seems odd to me is that Lambert has said in virtually every press conference since that the club needs significant investment in players to get them where they need to be. It maybe that Lambert will walk at the end of the season and Lerner is happy with that but then why go out of your way to speak so highly of him in that statement? If Randy knew he was going to leave because of lack of investment then surely he would see that that reflects badly on him.
  4. Few people have made posts on various sites saying a takeover is in offering with billionaires from US or other parts of world. Nobody knows whether this is true or not. We will find out probably next week.
  5. I think the only very disappointing thing he could say is that we are going to stay the course and believe what we have been doing the last four years is the right direction for the club. Surely even Randy can see that his investment is under massive threat with this strategy and it is only a matter of time before we get relegated. However after McLeish I would never think anything is too stupid for him. It would create a poisonous atmosphere at the club though that is for sure.
  6. Anyone think he is looking a bit like Hitler at the moment?
  7. Cant wait to see him come on all revved up and try and tackle Toure!! In all seriousness I reckon he will get on tonight which will be an amazing moment for him and the whole family. Kev - tell him to glue himself to Silva in the bar afterwards and ask him every question he can think of under the topic "how to be good at football"
  8. If it all works out as our wildest dreams are imagining (which still seems a stretch too far for us Villa fans) then I look forward to the following line of argument being rolled out over and over again. Damn you (Guardiola/Ancelotti/Klopp) for only buying a seasoned international in Jan window when it was clear we needed (insert name of hottest prospect in world football) as the final piece in the puzzle.
  9. Kev I hope you keep posting because its been good to have you around these last few years. You'll just have to completely ignore the 100's of requests you'll get for solid gold ITK!
  10. For a long time I'd have agreed with you Richard as I'm tired of constantly being in a transition season and want us to actually build something. I would also agree that the problems at Villa are Lerner more than they are Lambert. However if we are to be takenover and new money coming in then I would be voting for a complete facelift from top to bottom. In my mind Lambert has made as many mistakes in his 2 years here as the up and comers he has bought. I would put him in the same category, potentially talented but massively naive at this level.
  11. You get slated yet this post is so true. Jack needs to learn but he doesn't have the self belief he can do it IMO. Always looking out for the team and not himself. Gets the ball does a bit of class then sets someone else up. Quite frustrating to watch tbh. Yeah I'd agree with that too, hopefully his shooting is something that he can develop in time and experience. Heading I dont care about but tackling is something he needs to get to at least a base level to survive in Prem. Again that should improve with experience. I've always seen him as a Silva type player and often a bit of magic and then a decent pass is all that is required, if he can do that consistently and under pressure at the hghest level then he will do fine. How often have we fielded teams devoid of any magic this year. Difference with Silva is that he can finish and do a job for the team but he if he turns out to be 50% as good then he will do OK for himself.
  12. I think this year he is feeling the pressure and has totally lost it a similar way that Albrighton did in his second season. Even in the second half of his first season with Albrighton. I dont think it is beyond the realms of possiblity that he can recover his form, think he would benefit from being a squad player and having to force his way back in the team. Pretty sure he knows he has been crap this season yet he plays every game, you can see his confidence has drained away.
  13. Yeah its all about Fulham - if they beat Stoke and we lose to Hull I shall be shitting myself, if not then we will be OK.
  14. Biggest problem is we still do have to guarantee our own safety with at least 1 more point. Can't see us surviving if we lose all 3
  15. Yeah I agree with all of that. Fact is we now look almost identical to where we were at this point under McLeish (ie certainties for relegation if season carried on a few more weeks). Leaky at the back and clueless going forward the general play spoke for itself under McLeish and will do for Lambert whatever happens in the next three games.
  16. I missed my first game of season last week and we got a very valuable point. Thought I'd do the same today but it sounds like I'm not the cause of our utter shitness
  17. Yes it is an interesting quote. Been noticable that the usual flat batting from all involved with Villa communication to media has been slipping in the last few weeks. Surely got to be something going on! Hope more than judgement at this point.
  18. Yeah - wasn't it supposed to be a done deal pending staying up? How can it be done when bidding is still going on? As long as it's somebody with enough cash to make us a bit more comfortable and exciting to watch I'm happy
  19. Yes this occurred to me and would be great news. I think the Lerner statement is definitely heartening but years of disappointment are keeping me in the believe when I see it camp
  20. The Secret Footballer's source at Villa. Says the Albrighton train story is bollocks. http://www.thesecretfootballer.com/articles/the-secret-footballer/16584/backroom-harmony-at-villa-turns-sour/ Jesus... depressing stuff - more proof if it were needed that Randolph is a waaay bigger problem for us than Lambert ever will be
  21. Surely the only reason they made him coach was because they wanted him to actually do something for his bloody money for a change
  22. God knows when he finds the time to do that. Seems to spend all day either tweeting or writing reports about Villa and if he isnt doing that he's on holiday. If he actually makes it into the office he seems to just take photos of the harbour and say what a great place it is to work. Like someone said his hearts in the right place but the obvious vendetta he's had in place since being booted out Directors is starting to grate a bit. Even if I struggle to disagree with a lot of it he's still coming across as someone who got dumped and said he never liked her anyway.
  23. Yeah I read that and thought it was a pretty embaressing thing to write to the Chairman of a football club. I once wrote to Doug Ellis and tolk him to buy Rashidi Yekini who I'd watched on TV but I was about 12 at the time
  24. All most all of it is pretty accurate - pretty damning on Lowton actually but Ahmadi - struggles to press?? That is probably his biggest assett and he does that as well as anyone in the league going by the stats and my eyes. I struggle to see how a trained scout would come to that conclusion
