  1. That's it benty talk him up! He will end up here one way or another!
  2. Friedal was a good keeper for us, but I lost a lot of faith in him last season, and now looking forward to having Given between the sticks, who I believe is currently the better keeper, which at the current time is all that matters, it doesn't matter who was better 10 years ago, but imo Given was :winkold:
  3. Welcome Shay! Top class number 1 looking forward to your shot stopping and the next few signings! UTV!
  4. Get this one announced already! We all know it's done, I'd imagine the photos are taken too just a matter of the pr team fannying around as usual! I prefer the days when the first you knew of a signing was when it appeared on teletext!
  5. I think once the fee is agreed the deal will be wrapped up quite swiftly as AMc will want him on the plane on saturday, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few deals done this week! Fingers crossed! And IMO N'Zogbia would be a fantastic, exciting signing, he singlehandedly kept Wigan up, so I'm not surprised they're asking a little more than they were in January as his performances went up a notch.
  6. Would like him, can see him in a villa shirt. Did he play for McLeish at Rangers?
  7. Exciting times, hopefully l'equipe have it right would love this signing! Well worth 60k a week considering what we've paid some shite recently.
  8. Would love N'Zogbia, the perfect replacement for Young, make it happen Eck, he's the type to get the Holte off their arses as he hurtles over the half way line!
  9. Downing can do one now for all I care... complete lack of respect. When the Spanish players forced Fabregas into a Barca shirt he soon took it off, and you could see his discomfort, this is just another level though, a blatant disregard for his current club.
  10. Good luck in the interview today McLeish... Break a leg... Literally!
  11. The Facebook page against Eck is gaining momentum now around 14000 members! There's definitely more hatred for him than there was for Maclaren! Please Randy don't do it! My hope is that McLeish doesn't interview well and forgets to polish his shoes and gets declined! Billy Davies anyone?
  12. I am really struggling to see the positives of us appointing McLeish if it happens, I have been wracking my brains to consider how to spin a positive light on affairs, but it's becoming increasingly difficult. He would sure up our defence that's for sure, but at the same time hinder our attack, something I'm not willing to accept. However, I just can't see the logic in appointing McLeish, not at all. It goes against so much of what the club has promoted and portrayed under Lerners tenure, and until something concrete and official comes out of the club and the appointment is made I'm not going to jump on the bandwaggon and start slating Lerner at every opportunity, he has done so much good in his time here. Until the day the appointment is made I will reserve my judgement and remain neutral, and lend my support to the board, and if the appointment is a questionable one, that is when I will become concerned. UTV
  13. Benitez is looking the best candidate for me now, wouldn't be against him at all, but if Mclaren is appointed I'll cry! Like others have said it will be completely left field like Houllier I'd imagine. Hurry up Randy so we can get the summer transfers underway.
  14. Last summer I was crying out for Jol, and now I don't seem to have given him a second thought, probably all the pie in the sky Ancelotti stuff and all the rumours with Sparky, but having thought about it Jol would be a great candidate should we fail to land Ancelotti.
  15. I'll take what Kendrick has said in that we've approached Carlo but there's been no response yet and that we're working on other targets. I just hope this appointment is a real signal of intent with where Randy wants to take the club. Fingers crossed we all get a new messiah! Would really love it if we can persuade Ancelotti to come here.
  16. Just whacked a fiver on Ancelotti on betfair at 15's so get a cool 70 back if he's appointed, come on Randy line my pockets!
  17. Ancelotti would be a dream, and I'm really hoping we pull out all the stops to try and land him. If that fails I'd be happy with Benitez, and I'm not sure why!! I wouldn't be too inspired by Hughes, however Jol I would be happy with as he gets his teams to play some decent football. If it's steve van mclaren I would cry!
  18. Bent has been fantastic since signing for us, and the key reason for us propelling up the table, so IMO its money well spent. I can't wait to see what he produces for us next season as I imagine we'll pretty much have a team built around him. His goals return for us is very impressive when you consider the circumstances. He's gona be a vp hero I reckon if he carries on in this vein for us!
  19. I would imagine he's asked to withdraw so he can sort out settling into the area, finding somewhere to live and all that rather there being too much of an injury there. Makes sense really.
  20. Stagefright... sometimes when desperate for a slash, stand at a urinal, there's a few other gents around, and boom can't pee, no matter how much you need it. Only happens sometimes but man does it piss me off... no pun intended!
  21. Agree - I've always considered this to be the hallmark of a top side. It's no coincidence that Man United players always receive the ball in plenty of space. They want the ball, and they always put themselves in the best position to receive it. Makoun showed all of these instincts last night. This. Makoun is a class above what we're used to recently, and long may it continue.
  22. absolutely this! he has the ability but his personal confidence and life or whatever is causing his ability to be stifled on the pitch. if you feel shit, you don't work as well, whether it be in an admin centre or on the pitch playing football. he needs to sort his head out and then we will see the real Ireland. I'd say it was a loan with a view to buy, i'd say he'll be off to Newcastle in the summer if he does well. The ITK's (Kendrick & Sellyoak) have both suggested that there is no view to buy, so I'm hoping this is the case and we can keep hold of him and see his ability in a Villa shirt.
  23. I hope he returns reinvigorated and hungry to make it here. After GH said only days ago that he was in his plans, I think given a run in the Newcastle team to get his confidence back and return to us in the summer like a new player, fingers crossed. Good luck Stevie!
