  1. I hear what you are saying, but the moaning and calling for Sherwood to be sacked has been confined to social media thus far so I don't think it's a concern for the game itself. The fans will get behind the team, the only time you may hear anti-Sherwood chants is at full-time if we have lost.
  2. what would a "much more intelligent solution" look like exactly? it was a question, not an answer......I have commented many times, i don't know the answer, just questioning the rationale behind changing managers every 5 minutes. We aren't changing managers every 5 minutes though, are we? Lambert had just under 3 years before Sherwood. Although Sherwood has only had coming up to 9 months, he is averaging less than a point a game in his time here, so if he doesn't improve soon we are going down, unless of course we bring a better manager in.
  3. Agreed, a month to sell a 1000 tickets would be no problem. Hope the club make the right call on this one.
  4. I'm not sure how many well-respected, experienced managers will want to work for Randy. We've battled relegation for the last 5 years, with relatively low net spends each summer during that time and cut the wage bill. Couple that with the fact managers will know he wants to sell the club, and I think we need Tom Fox to deliver the sales pitch of his life to get someone in with a much better pedigree than Gobby Sherwood.
  5. I think we are very similar to Leeds tbh, and will be playing them again before too long sadly.
  6. They have no chance of automatic promotion according to a couple of my mates who support them. They admit they are overachieving massively, and don't have much depth. If they get in the play-offs that would be a very good season for them, and I think that's about the height of their ambition.
  7. I've seen a couple of comments about the manager's seat in B6 being a revolving chair, and that we can't just keep sacking managers, etc. The reality is we don't change managers any more often than most do, the average tenure of a PL manager is 1.8 years. We kept Lambert nearly 3 years. People keep wanting the dream appointment who will build a legacy, it isn't realistic. Even teams that are over-achieving and have done well in recent years outside of the top 6 (the group we are in), like Swansea and Southampton change manager regularly. Off the top of my head Rodgers, Laudrup and Monk have all managed Swansea in the last 3 years, Adkins, Pochettino and Koeman have all managed Southampton in the last 3 years. Changing manager every year or 2 doesn't have to be a problem, if you get the right structure in place.
  8. I'd go with that team but swap Gestede for either Ayew or Gabby. Gestede doesn't move meaning the 3 AMs/Widemen aren't as effective.
  9. This couldn't be any more spot on. are you free to work every weekend between now and may ? Have I missed a joke here or is this a serious question? Think he's putting you forward for the manager's job 'Tom 13's Claret and Blue Army' has a ring to it.
  10. Players wages and agent fees will increase, won't mean we get better players though it will just drive them up across the board.
  11. It's a respect thing. If a Spurs fan sat in the Villa end at VP and was obvious about it, some Villa fans would probably be 'violent'.
  12. No fan of McLeish at all, but I don't feel he was "backed" He wasn't, had a negative net spend, still managed 1 point per game during his time here, better than Sherwood's 0.91PPG.
  13. Spending a hundred million alone is not enough for gratitude. Someone could come in and buy the business that I work for, for a million pounds. If within 5 years they run it in to the ground, and as a result I lose my job because the company is showing big losses each year, in no small part down to mismanagement from the owner, I wouldn't be grateful for the fact they'd spent a hundred million, I'd be royally pissed off.
  14. A new manager in plenty of time before the window who has a clear philosophy and will identify a good GK and CF who are upgrades on what we have (shouldn't be too hard based on Guzan's performances this season, filled with gaffes). Lerner needs to put his hand in his pocket to the tune of 15-20mill so that the manager can target proven quality.
  15. We can't get 42,000 willing to spend £30+ on the club, so you aren't going to get more than that figure to spend circa £1,000 on the club. As an example, I'm a ST holder who has spent £450 on that this year, I don't have a spare grand lying around now.
  16. Sorry to be picky but twice on this page I've seen it so need to correct, it's Rowett.
  17. I think he's got at least 2 games, but if they both go very badly, he might not get any longer than the 2.
  18. The brummie guy on there is a big Villa fan, let's hope he does well.
  19. I think most fans would be happy with 11th-14/15th this year playing decent football and improving our home record, Sherwood has us 18th and with 0 wins in 4 games at home so is failing and by the end of the month we will be over 1/4 of the way through the season.
  20. I think our first eleven is weaker in midfield and attack than it was last season. Benteke > Gestede or Ayew. Cleverley + Delph > Gana/Vereout (at this moment in time). Gana and Vereout may prove to be better than the 2 best CMs we had last season, one is young and both are adapting to the league, but right now Delph and Cleverley would offer a PL side more.
  21. We don't sell out the full 3,000 there every time. I was at the 3-3 draw there a couple of seasons back under Lambert and we only took the 1800 allocation and the lower tier still wasn't full.
  22. Even worse than that, it was 71 points from 73 games before Stoke, so we now have 71 from our last 74. 0.96 PPG, going to show our away form must be fractionally better over this period or we'd have gone down by now.
  23. If we lost the next 2, Sherwood's position would be almost untenable (quite feasible given who we are playing). 8 defeats from 10 this season, he'd have to be on borrowed time.
  24. In fairness over our last 8 league visits there we have picked up 1 win and 3 draws so considering the gulf in class between the sides over that period it isn't a bad record. The thing is when we have been beaten, it's normally been bad! (8-0, 7-1).
