  1. Good stop by Olsen to be fair. We have contributed nothing to this first half, we should be ashamed. Brighton have nothing to play for and have had several chances, I don’t even really remember a shot from us. It simply isn’t good enough. We can’t keep playing like this for the rest of the season. You’d think we were the ones stuck in mid table with nothing to play for rather than Brighton.
  2. We’re playing like we have nothing to play for which is far from the case.
  3. Why the f*co didn’t Ollie just shoot straight away. Waste!
  4. To be fair even if we had a big squad we’d be hard done by. Probably about 10 players out now. When everyone is fit our squad is pretty good.
  5. Another injury, I should have put a bet on, it’s so predictable now.
  6. Carlos really looks like he can’t kick a ball properly at times, unbelievable.
  7. Another mug of a referee. Why do we get so many clearings in the woods reffing our games.
  8. Depends how we're playing. If we're just knocking long balls like we were v Chelsea last week for the most part then Duran is a good option for that. If we actually try to play football which I hope we do then yes he isn't worth bringing on, but we are down to the bare bones.
  9. Our only options off the bench are Cash and Moreno and maybe Duran. Zaniolo seemingly injured again despite playing all of 10 minutes the other night.
  10. Olsen, FFS! We'll have to score at least 3 now as he'll likely gift them 2 goals through clown goalkeeping.
  11. Based on players we've been linked with so far, I'd be happy with the following: Hermoso (Atletico Madrid) - free Fofana (Monaco) - £25-30m Baena (Villareal) - £35m Frimpong/Dumfries (Leverkusen/Inter) - £30-40m A young centre back (astutely scouted) to replace Carlos if we sell him That would set us back over £100m, so I imagine we may need to sell someone even if we make top 4. Baena is an inverted left sided player so my bet is that it could be Ramsey, but obviously I hope not. Possibly we won't sell anyone key if we can decent prices for Cash, Digne/Moreno and Carlos (perhaps £40-50m all in) and get some money for Donk, Coutinho, Hause, Sanson and Chambers (perhaps £20m). Not holding my breath though. We could then line up as follows next season which is a very good side with lots of options to rotate the side (Mings, Buendia, Rogers/Ramsey, Tielemans, Kamara, Diaby etc): Martinez Frimpong/Dumfries Konsa Pau Hermoso Fofana Luiz Bailey McGinn Baena Watkins
  12. We aren't playing particularly well and do look tired but Spurs are in terrible form, three defeats in a row, they look abject and now have a super difficult game at Anfield. I wouldn't take us losing and them losing too because I feel we have a great chance of securing 4th today and we're up against Brighton who have been in relegation form in 2024. Anything other than a win today is pretty disappointing to be honest given what's at stake.
  13. It's ok. The defence looks weak and the goalkeeper seems to only be good with his feet and a liability at keeping shots out. 34 year old Welbeck up front. The midfield is decent, I've always thought Gross is very underrated, but I think Luiz and McGinn if on form get the better of Gross and Gilmour. I'm not sure Enciso will start after being out for so long. We can certainly beat that team, we have a great record against Brighton and their form is dreadful, certainly much worse than ours despite what some on here are saying.
  14. If Martinez plays I think we'll win, if Olsen plays I don't want to think about it. We've won games with him in goal before but he seems to gift the opposition at least 2 goals every game. Hopefully Martinez fit to start and Tielemans and Moreno can make the bench. I'd go same team that played so well and beat Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, with only Luiz (who needs a good performance) in for Tielemans who won't be fit enough to start: Martinez Konsa Carlos Torres Digne Luiz McGinn Diaby Rogers Zaniolo Watkins Subs: Gauci, Cash, Lenglet, Moreno, KKH, Iroegbunam, Tielemans, Bailey, Duran
  15. I think at his best he is really, really good, one of the best midfielders in the league, which by definition makes him close to world class, but you see I agree he’s maybe overrated and I’ve said it myself and that’s because he isn’t consistent enough and his performances at present prove that. The best midfielders don’t go missing for weeks or even months on end. As I said we need to find what is causing it and deal with it. If it means taking him out the team because he’s drained from the season we might have to, although given injuries currently our only other option is to play Tim who doesn’t look up to it. When Tielemans is back then I wouldn’t hesitate to bench Luiz until he’s back at the level he was earlier in the season.
  16. He hasn’t and clearly nothing went for him last night, but when you’ve already conceded a daft penalty you really have to stick that one away or let someone else take it. Usually his composure is great from set pieces, but his ice cool mentality seems to have gone coupled with his poor performances generally. I still think he’s borderline world class when he’s at the top of his game but he really is stinking out the team at the moment and whatever is causing it needs to be addressed quickly.
  17. Defence is clearly an issue. A quality DM will help enormously given Kamara's injury but I also feel we need a couple of new full backs and a centre back.
  18. He's nice on the ball but it's another defender we have who can't really defend. I don't want us to sign him permanently. Other than Mings, who has just had what could be a career threatening injury and we've no idea how he will be next season, our central defenders are more good ball players than being any good at the basics of defending. Of course this is vital for our build up play and we need these types of players, but we also need someone back there who is skilled in the art of defending. We need to address this in summer by signing at least one defender who can defend. Once again I wouldn't sign Lenglet because if we do we will continue to ship silly goals next season when we're forced to play him.
  19. We shouldn't be turning on him, he's been brilliant for most of the season, but we can feel really p*ssed off with how he performed last night and in recent weeks. When we needed him to turn up the most, he not only went missing but contrived to give away a penalty then when he had a chance to make up for him by scoring a pressure penalty he couldn't hold his nerve. He wasn't the only player off it last night, but let's not pretend he didn't cost us the game. If he doesn't give away the penalty foolishly and if he sticks away that penalty we at least get a draw from the game.
  20. I think it's more he was trying to give Lenglet some minutes given what he said about using the squad, but it's a decision that massively backfired. I'm sure Unai will learn but he has to play Pau in the next 2 games (Brighton and Olympiakos away) which are huge for our season.

    Ezri Konsa

I am a fan of Ezri, he's such a classy and composed defender when in possession, and for me one of the best ball playing English centre backs. Probably only Stones is better on the ball. BUT....he is so passive defensively. He doesn't seem to be able to anticipate the danger and whilst he may have led the defence well earlier in the season that seems to have stopped. It didn't help that he was playing with Lenglet instead of Pau but that's no excuse. He needs to work really hard on improving his defending. On the ball he's great, off the ball he has some real issues he needs to overcome.
  22. The defence absolutely shouldn't be exempt of any blame, our defence hasn't been good enough all season, blame Mings being out fine, but that shouldn't be a reason why we're so passive. I like Konsa a lot but his recent performances from a defensive point of view aren't doing him any favours of making the Euros squad for England. BUT....Olsen was 100% at fault for goals 2 and 4. The 2nd he makes the terrible decision to dive early rather than stand his ground and the 4th goal is just laughable despite it taking a deflection, he should just punch it away but he flaps at it awkwardly like he hasn't got a clue what he's supposed to do. Yes he made a couple of decent stops but he's undone all that with the poor goals he's conceded. It's not just the goals he concedes but the lack of confidence he gives the rest of the team when he plays. Added to that is Emi is like having another outfield player when we're in possession, he's so good with the ball at his feet and confident coming out of his area when necessary, Olsen just cannot do that. He might only be our backup goalkeeper but he's Sweden's no1 goalkeeper, you'd expect him to be more competent than this. I'm actually surprised Gauci hasn't moved ahead of him in the pecking order.
  23. Ref was shit, VAR was shit, but most importantly we were shit and only have ourselves to blame. Unai was a master in Europe with his other clubs, but I honestly haven’t seen us play well in most games we’ve played in this competition. We struggled through the group games playing at a walking pace, were totally outplayed by Lille over 2 legs, and then tonight. The defence should be ashamed, they’re not up against Mbappe and Vinicius, they’re up against a guy who struggled to get in the Wolves team and a striker who has never even played in a top league. I think we had enough chances to at least take a draw back there if not a win, but our awful defence and goalkeeper let us down as well as Luiz who was the worst player on the pitch for us after Olsen and is really starting to piss me off with these performances. His penalty was awful. Think that’s us done in this competition I’m afraid, it was nice while it lasted but to go another year without a trophy is so damn frustrating. We simply have to get 4th now as that looks like the only thing we’ve got to play for. The one good thing tonight is at least spurs lost but it doesn’t make up for the disappointment.
  24. So Ollie is shoved over, clear free kick. What does the bald word removed do? Not give it. I’m gonna find this ref and crush him.
