  1. Still baffles me why he started Lenglet. With Olsen in goal too it was always going to be a disaster.
  2. It would be nice to fly out the blocks, race into a 3-0 lead, then slow the game down so we’re ready for Brighton on Sunday. Never seems to be the Villa way though. Olympiakos are one of the heavyweights in Greece but it’s a poor standard of league, I’d say the Turkish league is even better. Need to be up for it though. Not sure why Pau isn’t starting so Lenglet needs to step up tonight.
  3. We are by definition a huge football club, but we’d still get labelled in the media a much smaller club to Man Utd or Liverpool, just the way it is. We’re certainly no smaller than Spurs, Chelsea or Man City based on historical importance but the media would tell you they’re bigger because they are part of the Big Six apparently. Ultimately though we won’t get taken seriously until we prove we’re big. Top 4 multiple times, winning trophies, signing top players, big revenues. That’s the only way we’ll be recognised as being a big club so hopefully over the years that will happen.
  4. He should still go to the Euros as that doesn't start until mid June. If it's at the worst end of a groin/abductor injury (i.e. 6 weeks), he'll be ready for the tournament even if he's not quite match fit from the start. Obviously though I hope he's back for us to play some part in our last few games, otherwise we have McGinn and Luiz as our only senior central midfielders which is really cr*p luck.
  5. Not a fan of Spurs fans either but that's what you get when you've had a relatively successful period and are established as a Big Six team. I want us to stay humble too but we will become more expectant as a fanbase as we become a top team. Yesterday my moans were more around how we retained the ball than the actual result.
  6. The spurs boo boys will be out in full force at HT I expect.
  7. Surely game over now. I was worried with a point last night as I thought spurs might win today but you can always rely on their end of season implosion to help out.
  8. Brighton is the easiest of our final three games based on 2024 form so it's one we really need to be winning, think a draw could be fatal myself. I think they've won three games this calendar year.
  9. I think it’s more the performance I’m getting at. 28% possession at home and looking like a championship team against a premier league team was very disappointing given the week we’d had to prepare for the game. Emery keeps saying he wants us to control the ball, keep possession, beat the press, be brave, but we didn’t do any of that last night and just reverted to hoof ball up to Watkins which doesn’t work because Ollie never wins anything in the air against central defenders. I think Arsenal aside, we haven’t really played well in many games the last few weeks and that’s the disappointing thing because I really enjoy watching us at our best and it seems so few and far between at the moment.
  10. I feel like last night was 2 points dropped than 1 point gained. We didn't turn up and this is the confusing thing about this team: brilliant when you least expect it (Arsenal), then shite when you're expecting a big performance like last night. 4th is far from done. I fear it will go down to the last day which will be very stressful. We have to hope Spurs only take 1-2 points from their three tough games this week, very possible. But even then they still have Burnley and Sheffield Utd which should yield 6 more points. Brighton, Liverpool, Palace isn't an easy run in, especially when we have the first two straight after European games. Palace are in ridiculously good form. I suspect if we lose Tielemans and Martinez for any length of time we will finish 5th. If they are ok we should do just enough to finish 4th. It's that simple.
  11. At fault for the first goal and generally was poor and has been for a while. He's been very good for much of this season but needs to up his game pronto because if we had a fully fit squad at the moment, in his current form, he wouldn't be starting.
  12. Eh? Man City are not a high pressing team, neither are Brighton, they are teams who like to dominate possession but they don’t really press. Arsenal are to an extent but not the aggressive high press like Newcastle, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham who have all got the better of us this season. We are a work in progress whether we finish top 4 or not and we have to learn to deal with these types of teams next season because tonight was such a one sided game when we really should have been taking the game to them given we were at home and about 20 points better off than the opposition.
  13. Maybe it’s true. Maybe Luiz isn’t as good as we think he is. Last 2 games without him we were so much better.
  14. Just looked at that stats: **** me we were shocking. How Chelsea haven’t won I really don’t know, they’ll be kicking themselves. One of our worst performances of the season against a team who got twatted by Arsenal 4 days ago. Unai needs to learn how to play against these high press teams, because he clearly screwed up tonight in whatever he was trying to do.
  15. I thought it was a foul initially but when I looked at the replay it was very, very soft. We got so lucky.
  16. VAR saved us tonight. That nudge looked very soft to me and I think the goal should have stood.
  17. Tielemans was walking off. Hope that means he’s ok, we really need some luck on the injury front.
  18. We were playing poorly before he came off to be fair. Chelsea dominated and I was disappointed with how Unai set us up tonight.
  19. Very poor performance, we were lucky to get a point. Outplayed in both halves. We were brilliant against Arsenal a couple of weeks ago who are much better than Chelsea. Very strange performance. Disappointing. Only positive is we didn’t lose. chelsea look a much better side then us, we need some big signings in the summer because Chelsea will be up there next season.
  20. Chelsea look a much better side than us. How are we 4th and they 9th.
  21. Throw away 2-0 lead against Brentford, throw away 2-0 lead against st Chelsea. We love throwing away 2-0 leads.
  22. Chelsea will win now. We’ve been utter tripe and deserve nothing.
  23. We’ve had some great performances under Unai and some absolutely shite ones. Today we have been utter shite
