    Wow, I knew he rotated but didnt realise that they're on the bench for so many games. I'd only seen something showing games they'd played which was 50 plus. Is that starts including international too? If so, those three only start 60-65% ish of the games Man City play? I agree re. Foden.

    What interests me with the man city link is what would their expectation be of his game time with them. Grealish has probably played an average of 35 games per year for the last 5 years. We'd expect next season fingers crossed to be his highest with Villa, ideally with a cup run and england appearances, so maybe 40 with a few games out. But Mahrez, Foden, De Bruyne etc play 55 games every season. It's a hell of an ask to play 20 more games per year than you're used to.

    I agree. The best half of football we've played was the last game against the Czechs. Only game for me that we looked like a proper side.

    I think 5th or 6th, we were about a win or 2 wins off that position points wise in most normal seasons last year. Obviously that's more likely attainable with Grealish. We are on this upward trajectory right now where we have gained 6 to 7 league places season to season. Obviously that trend cant continue, but would be more than happy with it slowing to 4 or 5 places gained next season.

    It's not a hammering that would get him sacked. A 1 nil defeat tonight and we go out in round of 16s having scored 2 goals in 4 games. If that doesnt get you sacked given our attacking options, then I dont know what can.

    I was trying to think, who was the last player we actually sold. As in a player who leaves Villa to go on to 'bigger and better things' for a decent transfer fee. I honestly cant think. You know like in the same way that our last 25 transfers in have all come in for big fees in order to better their careers. It's almost as if nobody in football has noticed this, and the consensus is still that if Villa are offered decent money for Grealish we'll take it without hesitation.

    I assume that nothing has been organised for pre season yet, given the lack of posts. Do we reckon though that there will be a home friendly the Saturday before the season starts, like we've done in previous years? Would be good to play a decent European team if so

    Yes my father in law is a Man city fan, been going 40 years, and his response to the link was that hed rather we keep Grealish, as he fits Villa and hes a fan, and they can just get anyone from anywhere. It's just a dream team that happens to be based in Manchester.

    Na it hasn't been odds on for him to leave. They had the market for next club which had Man City as favourites. It's only this morning that City have gone big odds on versus him staying. Sadly.
