  1. That Souuthampton equalizer should've been disallowed
  2. Yeah but how many players in his position would've actually refused to play for us if they were in Chester's position. I think most would've just soldiered on tbh.
  3. Yet we couldn't do the same when we faced Man City despite beating Newcastle
  4. Interesting stat about Elmo is that he has the highest expected assist per 90 minutes out of all our players who've played more than 90 minutes for us aside from Jack and Conor.
  5. At least 30 million imo. Seems like that's what it would cost to get a proven premier league striker nowadays that's reasonably young.
  6. I mean, what do you mean by equal footing? Because we had like 3 full years of battling relegation before finally going down while tottenham were competing for top 6 and trying to get into top 4 in that same period. And even if we were on equal footing with them, so what? There are also other clubs who have gotten top 6 and have gone down the table after, some even getting relegated. Why does us being like Tottenham at some point entitle us to a similar level of success? Kane not going to United? I don't know much about Kane's situation, but I think maybe the fact that Totenham were at least a top 6 club and were on the rise during the whole time a big factor? How is that at all comparable to us who have been in the championship the past 3 years and have only just gotten promoted? And with Poch gone now, and if Spurs don't win anything this season, I can totally see him leaving nexy year. I don't know what he said in those articles, I just know what he said to the interviewer after winning the playoffs. And your statement doesn't even go against mine, he's saying he felt like he had to leave. He obviously would have to leave to further his career, which is the same thing I'm saying for why he may leave us eventually. Here's the thing, if we show signs of upward progress, then I don't think Grealish leaves. BUT, if we don't, and remain rooted to the bottom half of the table and that shows no sign of changing, I think its entirely possible he might leave. Would you not think if after 3 years of relegation battles, a 27 year old Grealish might start thinking that it might be time to join another club before his prime disappears? Of course, he might not and its entirely possible he remains satisfied with Villa regardless butI do think from his comments ambition is a motivator for him.
  7. And what if we don't for some reason get better and get stuck in a relegation battle year after year or hell, even get relegated? Its a distinct possibility, just as us reaching the top 10 or even top 6 is a possibility too in the future. We aren't entitled to anything in this league. I'm saying if its the former, I don't think Jack sticks around. A player signing a new contract doesn't mean they wouldn't want to leave in the future, it just means they didn't want to leave at the time they signed the contract. Like I said, Jack himself said that he had expected to leave at the end of the season despite signing a 5 year contract a year earlier, I don't think there's anything which indicated what his intentions were more than that, unless you think he was lying for some reason.
  8. He said after we won the playoffs that he had been expecting to leave at the end of hte season at first. He's definitely open to leaving to further his career if required. Is purely being in the PL but getting bottom half finishes is enough to quell his ambition? Who knows, but if we were to go down again, I definitely don't see him sticking around. But if we were to show signs of gradually but significantly climbing up the table, I say he stays.
  9. What kind of similar signing to current Benteke did we even make the season we got relegated? If I remember correctly we mostly signed lots of young French players that year who never played in the PL before, the kind of signings the current board seems to be looking at. Edit: Not just the French, but most of our money went to just young players in general who've never really played in the PL before that year.
  10. I honestly can't remember a single sitter he's actually missed for us.
  11. I don't think anyone would mind Wesley not being super prolific if he actually contributed a lot in other aspects of the game more(he doesn't, generally). And Firmino is allowed to not be super prolific because he has the likes of Salah and Mane to do that for him. Something tells me El Ghazi and Trezeguet won't have anywhere near the goal returns of Salah and Mane though.
  12. Think he knows he's been playing poorly relative to his standards and as a result he's wanted to take more of the chances himself. That shot near the end of the match where he should've passed to me represented his frustration he's had with himself the game.
  13. Want to add that Wesley is actually 2 goals under his expected goals total. Makes sense considering his miss today and his penalty miss at Norwich, plus he's not the type to score difficult chances.
  14. Yeah, at least whoscored lists no strengths or weaknesses. Not sure if its a case of them not having enough data on the player or they legitimately have no idea what is this guy's strengths or weaknesses. I would've assumed the former but they have enough data to characterize his style of play.
  15. Suprised people are knocking his shooting. It wasn't good this game but you don't score some of the goals Jack has scored for us without having a cracking shot.
  16. I haven't felt so confident in our keeper in so long. Why did Burnley even sell him to us so cheaply
  17. I haven't felt so confident in our keeper in so long. Why did Burnley even sell him to us so cheaply
  18. Funny how we were so dominant in that one away win we had.
  19. Nah, I just dislike the whole, "look at how so much better he is playing than "insert another player who is playing like crap"" arguments.
  20. Yeah but Joelinton is crap. Comparing a player to crap doesn't exactly make them look that much better.
  21. On another day, some of these mistakes could've led to a goal. Honestly, he's another one I think gets too much hype from us. He just makes too many mistakes and I feel people brush it under the rug way too much. This game was the worst so far but its not like he hasn't been having other games where he's been making costly mistakes.
  22. Oh god, I'm gonna end up being one of the Wesley defenders now. I've become what I've always hated. Was decent, on another day could've bagged a goal. The first time I've felt like I've seen actual false 9 play from him, or something like that. He definitely contributed by dragging defenders away towards him for other players to take advantage. Not the best performance, but aside from missing the sitter, I'm not all that disappointed him this time. Work rate is actually there too which is a plus. Edit: Also whoscored lists him as winning 6 aerial duels. Like, how?
  23. I counted 2 actually. If the bloke wouldn't get disposessed so easily I'd be happier with him. But credit where credit is due, he had a good game overall.
