  1. I disagree the games he has been best in he played deeper and we were passing to feet more. This is a tactics issue and currently I don't think Dean is getting the best out of him. His goals have come from slipping in behind the defence which we aren't taking advantage of when we are out wide weostly play high looping crosses that the defenders easily get on to. Most of our goals have come from relatively low crosses which aren't intended for the head but for volleys or tap ins. Furthermore these types of crosses are more likely to force a mistake from the centre half through a clumsy touch either with ball ending up at a players feet or in the back of his own net. We have scored 5 or so goals from these balls totalling nearly a third of our tally this year. This would play to Wesley's strengths better as well as it let's him use his strength to hold off the centre half and either finish himself or let a player behind to get it like with mcginns disallowed goal against Burnley.
  2. That was because we were for more goals so both mcginn and hourihane were in poor positions defensively. Mcginn especially needs to be better at getting back into position after a run hasn't panned out so we can recycle more easily. With him doing what he does now not only does it leave us exposed if we lose the ball but it makes it a lot harder to switch the ball as there is a massive gap between our left and right flanks where mcginn should be.
  3. Yeah but the thing is we are around the bottom of the league. We only need 13 wins for typical safety with 1 draw and we will probably get somewhere around that region with 5 or 6 draws. We'd only needs to show up half the time for us to win and I wouldn't blame him for his poor EXG in games other than Norwich. I think we need to play the ball to his feet more so he can get involved with play rather than chasing long balls that even on his finest day he has no chance of winning. In his best games we have played the ball to his feet or in behind rather than hoofing the ball where his strength is more of an asset than a weakness (with long balls he is more likely to foul because he knocks a defender over). You can see this from him having fouled the most in the league 26 times but he hasn't received a single booking when 2nd and 3rd have received 6 and 4 yellow cards to this point.
  4. Draws don't keep you up wins do. If you end the season with 40 points you could have 13 wins and 1 draw and 24 losses or you could have 10 wins 10 draws and 18 losses. The point is as long as we win enough games draws won't matter. It would be nice to prevent losing points from winning positions but it won't be what decides our season.
  5. I'm not saying he shouldn't attack I'm saying he shouldn't be playing upfront and giving our other midfielders no options. He has been doing it less as the season progresses and didn't do it at all against Norwich.
  6. We would be fine defensively with Jack in the middle if mcginn sat deeper so we had link up play in the middle of the park and he could actually get back.
  7. The problem is Wesley is being fouled it is just light fouls which would go straight to someone like David silva or even aguero but the ref looks at him like he has gone down easy.
  8. They aren't formation changes per say they are just variations. 4-2-3-1 is just 4-3-3 with 2 defensive midfielders and the wingers are narrower for example. Everything suggested stillivolves 433 just implemented in different ways.
  9. I think he just isn't getting anything from the refs. I didn't get to watch Saturdays game but in previous games defenders have gone through the back of him but he never wins it. Premier league refereeing continues to disappoint me and I believe it is far worse than any of the championship games we played last season.
  10. I would drop mcginn. Not because he isn't good enough but because he will burnout if he continues playing every minute of every game for me it is why he gets booked so often. And why after his 2 match suspension why he picked up 4 bookings in 12 games because he played all of them. Bring him on at 60 minutes for Luiz and he will score the winner.
  11. Needs to be rested is untouchable at the moment and has played every minute for us and played every game for Scotland he just isn't getting rested. Him being so tired is likely why he picks up so many bookings as he gets there to late and just follows through if he was full energy he would probably chase after the ball or get their before the ball is played. Should come off at 70 minutes every game.
  12. He plays for lille is suspect he may struggle outside of their system like leao and pepe
  13. I don't think we should be looking at championship players that would cost us more than 20 million. I think Eze, benrahma and bowen are the players I would sign from the championship but in Jan I think we need a winger/striker with **** you pace someone who can chase our errant long balls. I also think we should sign a player from lille as they seem to perform very well in their system but so far haven't done anything
  14. In the games Wesley hasn't scored in what have the team done to get him involved in play. Pass to his feet? Accurate long balls? No they are all crap hoofs up which he has been struggling to win because he has to bust a gut to get in position.
  15. He also weighs 5lbs less than wesley
  16. Needs to be 14-17 and 10-13 instead of 11-17. I am confident we will be well clear of the relegation zone. We are too good and other teams are simply too poor. I think this season we have got to develop wes, trez, Luiz and el ghazi so next year we can compete for top 8 and then the year after compete for a spot in Europe.
  17. No on the attack it would be the same formation. Mcginn would cover the right wing though and grealish would cover the left wing. And we would drop into the centre to help press.
  18. I'd like to see a 4-3-1-2 with el ghazi up front. El ghazi biggest weakness is his defensive awareness. Therefore if we have wes drop deeper and defend he can get the ball easier and ghazi can play on the counter. When we have possession I would like him to drift wide so we play a 4-3-3 again. I think this will make the most of el ghazi and wes because wes can receive the ball and el ghazi doesn't have to worry about defense as much.
  19. I think both keinan and Wesley have a lot of potential but I can't belive people are writing either of them off so early in the season. I like keinan and I think maybe he should start against Liverpool but that doesn't really matter because without Jack we are going to get spanked by probably a top 5 team in Europe. I'm going to address some of the criticism I see regarding Wesley. 1) He is slow. I think once he has got going he is very quick but I do think his acceleration is very poor. I think this due to his technique which can be worked on by our staff. 2) He is poor holding up play. This would be a valid criticism if he received long balls to him and not 30 yards away from him. There is a reason haller has won the most headers in the prem because their players find him with their long passing which ours don't do with Wesley. 3) He dives. I don't think Wesley dives but is a bit weak when feeling contact. The problem is he is so big that if he feels contact and goes down the refs don't reward what would be a foul for most other player players because he is so big. We can see this at Brighton where he turned Webster but was called for a foul because of how big he is. Wes can certainly improve and Keinan has better all round play right now but I don't think many of the criticism levied against Wesley is fair on him or and appropriate reflection of the games he has played.
  20. Completely agree. But 1 comment I will make a bout the target man system is that we can't find him at all. The ball is always 20 or 30 yards away when we play it up to him so the defender is already in a better position and he has to be very physical to get in front of them which often leads to him giving fouls away like the arm gundogan's face or him getting in position but the ball bouncing off of him because he is still fighting to stace beneath the ball. If we played it close to him I think he would look a lot better as a target man but as it stands it is very hard for him to keep the ball with him being so isolated.
  21. The rules are very clear if your arm increases the profile of your body it is a handball whether it is intentional or not. If it would hit you in the chest no biggie. But it was moving away from him and it influenced where it was ending up which would have been at the feet of mcginn but it instead went to trez or Luiz.
  22. Disagree with guilbert. He has picked up 3 yellow cards already and clearly is worried about the imminent suspension. On top of that he was playing a top 5 winger in the world today and was quite a bit slower. I also disagree with el ghazi. He is very dangerous and is the most threatening player we have imo. We should have brought him on for Wesley in my opinion. We needed someone who could score and Davis clearly isn't that player. If someone we have is to score in a game like that I would put my money on him or hourihane because they both can score from range and they both can finish despite the simple chances el ghazi has fluffed against Norwich and Brighton. Mcginn clearly tires after 55 minutes. Dean needs to sub him at 60 every game. Bring on hourihane or Luiz. This is when we concede our goals when mcginn can't defend and it is like we are playing with 10 men. Mcginn doesn't come off and that is my biggest issue this season. He is a good player but running as much as he does is very tiring and I would rather have a fresh layer for the last 20 minutes of a game than someone who struggles to walk up and down the pitch. With Wes it is hard to say. I personally think we don't give him anything to work with. In the first half all the long balls to him he had to chase and was in crap position when it came down. What is the point in having a target man if you can't find the target. The balls are either really short really long or about 20 yards wide of him. It is honestly disgraceful that we can't find him. On the other hand he needs to strop less though I suspect that is a symptom of the shit service we give him. Engels has had a rough couple of games since arsenal. He hasn't done anything really good defensively but hasn't made any mistakes. I would like for him to do more and probably take free kicks within our half but he hasn't done anything I can really fault him for. I personally have a problem with Heaton. I think he has been generally very poor. He has made some alright save but I don't think he has made any that steer wouldn't have. I also think steer is more aggressive and better at deciding when to come for the ball which could have prevented goals against Burnley and Norwich. He also gave away a penalty against Bournemouth which steer would have made. He was supposed to be a much more vocal keeper than steer but I haven't seen any signs of that this season especially considering the mixup between mings and him today. Also sterling's goal Heaton should have saved that. It was clear what sterling was going to do and letting the ball go through your legs and underneath you as a keeper is a disgrace.
  23. Once again Dean needs to make the subs earlier mcginn cant even run at this point. Bring on hourihane.
  24. Sterling was so **** offside. Had to jump out of the way. Heaton had to dive after sterling jumped out of the way
