  1. how can watkins not look along that line and think......im offside here, better get back onside.
  2. the prob is, we have Buendia and Couts who can possibly create some chances, then Watkins who has the football IQ of his right shoe. We need a proper striker ahead of those two.
  3. you wont be saying that when he bags us a top 8 this season.
  4. Lingardinho appears against the Villa 4 sure.
  5. 50m overspend, blimey, didnt see that number banded around, thats a huge amount over, most people are talking 5-8m ish (the 5% at the low end of over the cap). Will be interesting to see what the reports actually say. It is shocking though (if true), as many have said, 3-5m is almost a full years worth of car development, even 5% overspend is a huge, huge thing in terms of car development, you just cant have team doing that......if it is true.
  6. Thats assuming a loss would even spell the end of Gerrard. Im not sure it would.
  7. when is the "Red Bull totes didnt break the budget cap" announcement due?
  8. too right, the club has said a lot over the last 12-18 months that we are really trying to push now. Its great to be a club that is involved in a 6 pointer at the top of the tab.......oh wait. This is a 6 pointer for us pushing in a southerly direction? tbf tho, i can see why Gerrard is struggling, its not like we have any real quality, i mean, what manager could work with players like Martinez, Digne, Carlos, Kamara, Luiz, Ramsey, Coutinho, Buendia etc, it must be tough, Gerrard is doing a great job in and around the drop zone tbh, i think we will do well to remember that, and if we can manage to scrape survival, we really should rejoice and maybe even build Gerrard a statue in memory of how he managed such a poor group of players to survival, truly on par with his Scottish league successes.
  9. Hey; I was looking at our transfer activity over the last 2-3 years, and tbh im kinda shocked just how many of them seem to be: 1) a failure, or 2) If not a failure, is it the manager mismanaging them or some other issue?, or 3) an issue to to injuries or other related absences. I will list the transfers i refer to: 2020/21: 91m spent total (roughly 37m of the 93m spent possibly raises questions?). Sanson : 15m - does this fall under 2 & 3?, or 1? Traore : 17m - does this fall under 2 & 3?, or 1? 2021/22: 116m spent total (roughly 91m of the 116m spent possibly raises questions?) Buendia : 35m - does this fall under 2? Bailey : 29m - does this fall under 3?, and maybe 2?, or both?, or 1 also!? Ings : 27m - does this fall under 1? 2022/23: Dendoncker : 13.5m - i know its early days, but we have just spent 13m on him, and he doesnt seem to be getting a look in either, another multi million pound bench warmer deal? If you add all that up, we have spent in the region of 140m on players over the last 3 years, who for whatever reason, arent even playing in the first 11, i know poor transfer choices can and do happen regularly at all clubs, but 140m on players who havent, for whatever reason, even improved our first 11 (on paper - as they dont play), what on earth are we doing? note: i do think players like Buendia can improve our first 11, and should probably start, or at least get a run of games (possibly even Sanson - heck knows whats going on there), but the fact is he, and others like him arent playing much, or at all, and these large transfers fees paid for players that arent even starting for us, is pretty mind boggling, especially when you include wages etc. What the heck is going on with our recruitment? Thoughts?
  10. Weird to see a player score in match, yet be surprised they only got one. Lol.
  11. Just need a manager who knows how to use them then.
  12. Glad he didn't stay, he would prob be getting the archer treatment.
  13. Timmy earns a pen with a great run. if only we had this kind of youth setup when we were in the championship. Imagine having youth players like Hayden, Feeney, Bogarde, Iroegbunam, A.Ramsey, Archer etc pushing for the first team
  14. tbf there is absolutely nothing wrong with a back 3, its a really good formation. the problem is i dont trust Gerrard to manage the u12's in terms of formation and tactics. If it were a proper manager/coach making the change to a back 3, i would be more confident.
  15. i remember a quote from Deano in our first year back, after a few losses, he said something like: "i need to go back and look at things, it seems a lot of my squad are training players" ie: they look amazing in training, but struggle to transfer that training form to a match, i remember that moment well, stuck in my head when he said that.
