  1. There will be three types when it comes to the Leeds issue. There is no issue with this and people are making a big deal out of nothing (mainly Leeds fans) The media who will try to blow it up as a scandal (Sky sports) Then the reasonable people who land somewhere in the middle. I'd like to think most are in the third group, I know I am. Is it wrong? Yes. Should it be punished? Yes. I think the idea that there is no wrongdoing when spying on a team's private training session is ridiculous. In the run up to a big game, a team like Derby will be working on set pieces both attacking and defending. How and where to press the ball. Specific measures for danger players. If you have that information ahead of time you are at a huge advantage. This information is much more important than the starting 11 or formation. What I am more interested in is have Leeds been doing this all year? And what becomes very difficult is if they have and the FA conclude that it is against the rules, how will they punish it? I can see the FA filing this is the 'too difficult to deal with' pile and giving Leeds a slap on the wrist and hoping no one brings it up again.
  2. I don't know much about him by Smith obviously does so I'd be happy to see him come in. I'd be delighted to never see Hutton at LB again.
  3. I still laugh when I see Sherwood complain he wasn't given free rein on transfers during that summer. Two of the players he wanted and signed were Lescott and Richards. Possibly two of the poorest players ever to wear the shirt, thank f**k we didn't sign anyone else he wanted. The players he didn't want? Veretout, Amavi, Gueye and Ayew have all gone on to play at a decent level. For me, Sherwood was the greatest scammer this club has ever seen and we are still paying the price of having him as manager.
  4. Seems Lansbury is going to miss this one with an injury. So it will most likely be a midfield 3 of McGinn Thor Hourihane. So few options in midfield at the moment. We really need Jack back ASAP.
  5. I'd agree with this. El Ghazi gives us something different, AA is great to track back but doesn't offer enough going forward. I'd go with players in their correct positions: Kalinic Bree Chester Elphick Taylor Hourihane Bolaise McGinn Lansbury ElGhazi Abraham Subs: Steer, Hutton, Hause, Thor, Kodija, Hogan, Davis.
  6. I think Chelsea's position has helped a lot. It seems they were unwilling to sell him and essentially asked Tammy where he wanted to play the second half of the season on loan. If Wolves were buying him outright I think he may have left but the fact he would come into a team who are doing well at the moment his chances of getting into the team would be relatively low, at least for the first few months. Anyway, if he does stay I will be happy, a proven goal scorer is always hard to come by at any level and even harder to replace.

    Keinan Davis

I think it was against Norwich last season he looked the real deal. He's had rotten luck with injuries but if he stays fit he can have a big impact. There are times when you need a proper presence up top in the Championship and Davis is the only striker we have that fits that bill. RHM scored last night against United too. Could he be an option on the wing if Kodija is going to be more central when Tammy leaves? He has great pace and has shown he can dribble. With some work on end product, he could be very useful.
  8. Seems like a decent player. But another loan? Bit disappointed about that. But on the positive side, he is a left foot CB who seems to be able to play out from the back and has pace. We have been screaming out for left footed CB since Baker left!
  9. I can see why Maupay is being linked but as it stands we have Hogan, Kodija, Davis and RHM if Tammy leaves. For me there is enough there to get the goals to get us in the top 6 this year. Hogan and Kodija have scored 15+ in this league before and Davis has shown signs that he can step up. Serious investment is needed at the back. We need a starting LB and a RB that will push Bree. We also need a DM who can control the game but also has a bit of pace. If I had 10-12mil to spend that's where I would be looking to spend it.
  10. I’m afraid that’s the nature of refs. They don’t want to book people early as it may lead to a tough decision later on. Just like the QPR keeper last week, he wasted time on every break in play from about 25mins on. The ref books him in the 94th min. If he had done it after HT it may have stopped him doing it throughout the game.
  11. A manager like DS relies on full backs with bags of pace and stamina. The modern full/ wing back has become a huge part of the way teams set up. Look at the top two in the Premier League right now. When fit their starting full backs are quick and tricky with bags of energy and the ability to cross. The old mode full back (Gary Neville, Denis Irwin, etc.) doesn’t work in the these systems as they don’t overlap the wingers enough as they know they don’t have the legs to get back into position if it breaks down. That’s why players like Elmo and Hutton are looking so poor right now. I think Bree has the ability to play that role on the right. I think we need a replacement on the left as Taylor isn’t the man for that job either. Maybe Mitch Clark is?
  12. There are players who are screaming out to be rested. Chester, McGinn, Hutton, Hourihane, Abraham and maybe 1 or 2 others. I'd like to see: Kalinic Bree Elphick Hause Ravan O'Hare Jedi Lansbury Adomah Hogan ElGhazi
  13. Perhaps, I saw one of the lads from Villa View retweet it.
  14. Sky are saying that he has been recalled by Chelsea. A lot of work for DS to do if this is true.
  15. Talk on Twitter is that he’s done his Achilles and is out long term. Supposed to be getting Steer back for the QPR game and then as No. 2!
  16. I don’t think Kalinic is available yet. DS said the first game he could play was the FA cup when he was signed. Also, Nyland is supposed to have been injured in training. I think after the performance yesterday DS needs to make a few changes. I’d go with: Bunn Bree Elphick Chester Taylor BB Hourihane McGinn Kodija Abraham Bolaise
  17. We have so few options l can’t see many changes. Unless Taylor is for I can see the same back for as we know Tuanzebe is out for a few weeks. Perhaps BB in for Whelan or ElGhazi for Kodija. I’m just hoping we get on the ball and try influence the game more than we did against Leeds. But Swansea are a decent footballing side. Badly need 3 points, but I can see us getting 1.
  18. This topic has decended into madness. Are people really calling Chester terrible? How about we look at this from Chester’s point of view. He decides to stay in the summer when it would have been easy to walk away. We then get new owners and he expects some decent defensive signing will be made. Bruce decides to strip the club of all defensive cover and play Chester alongside a defensive midfielder who has no idea how to play at CB. He also has to play alongside a RB at LB and a CB at RB. The moron Bruce is eventually fired and Smith sees sense and puts players in their natural positions but both LB and CB get injured leaving Chester to hold the baby again. Chester has never and will never be a dominant CB that comes and heads everything. If we know that I assume a Villa manager should know it too. So why did Bruce sell Baker, loan out Elphick, not resign Terry? Because the lad is clueless! If you want to blame someone for this mess blame him.
  19. Elmo and Hutton cost us this game. Both absolutely terrible throughout.
  20. Important we don’t lose this now. A draw isn’t a bad result.
  21. Hutton marking Jansen on corners is madness. It was only a matter of time. I’m no Hutton fan but this isn’t his fault, someone with more size/ strength needs to pick up their biggest threat.
  22. I've heard quite a few say he is poor with his feet, but at the end of the day he's a footballer. If we get him down the training ground and get him used to how we play I'm sure he can adapt. In the Championship I think you need a keeper who is big and not afraid to come and take people out. Nyland's main problem is he's too timid at times. I think at 6ft 7 he won't be afraid to come through the crowd. If we get a decent CB, LB and Tammy stays for the rest of the season I'll be happy.
  23. Getting the No. 1 Croatia keeper to the Championship is no mean feat. Would be happy if this one works out. Like other have said I assume this mean Moreira heads home. Which would free up some loan space.
