  1. Glad to se you’re fully embracing the possitives and not just sinking into deep and depressing thoughts. It’ll be tough no doubt but let’s not raise the white flag before a ball has been kicked! We have an excellent manager and a decent squad who are capable of getting something out of this game if everything goes right for us. UTV!!!!
  2. I’m not so sure we can say sneak a resounding 3-0 win UTV!!
  3. Could be just you JV I haven’t managed to find a link i’m afraid. I’m not asking though obviously, I’m more than happy to follow precedings in here.
  4. I can add that I remember Andy Lockhead saying he believed that the Holte actually sucked the ball into the net for his goal. Remembering matches like that puts me firmly into the never leave Villa Park crew but times change so we can’t dismiss the idea totally. Sentimentally plays a part and we should never forget those times but we shouldn’t miss any chance to build some more memories, for those who haven’t been so lucky as those of us who have been previously!! UTV!!!!!
  5. Stay strong, having a screw loose doesn’t make you weird in here! You’re amongst friends, rest assured!!
  6. Where you’ll find lots of people with a screw lose!
  7. I have an old pal, a Spurs fan who lives in Essex, despite all the evidence he’s a good lad and we regularly exchange texts. After their game at the weekend he concluded that they weren’t good enough to play in the CL, against the likes of Real Madrid and so wouldn’t be so disappointed if they didn’t finish in the CL places this year. His thoughts could equally apply to us, especially if the powers that be, restrict our ability to strengthen our squad, which they already are doing to try to keep the uppity Brummies out of the CL anyway. Good job I’m not cynical!!!
  8. Like any predictions of the future regardless of how well thought out, they can be concluded either in a glass half full or half empty attitude or indeed with a glass thrown to the floor and smashed into tiny pieces. For all of our mental health I’d urge us to try our best to remain possitive. As our last great manager said after a particularly bad result at a particularly important time, would you like to bet against us??
  9. Filthers? You’ll need to explain this one to me too mate!!??
  10. “Probably”, you say but not definitely, so we could win the league then!!????
  11. I remember a bloke behind me on the Holte who had us to win 4-0/1 or something like that. All was going well until we scored our 5th!! UTV!!!!!!
  12. Whilst I think what you say about Aston is largely true, that could also be said about lots of areas. I had an old aunty that lived in Alum Rock and my Mom used to say that the area used to be nice and regarded as quite posh in the past. That’s just the passing of time, if we could see into the future we’d be very rich! I’ll let you know if I ever master the trick!!
  13. Fair comment but I think we should try to give the “10 Champions Leagues in a row”, idea a go all the same, you never know?
  14. The official word may well be a fudge but Heck had just walked through the door and the truth may well be thst he needs more time to assess what the best strategy is, especially given that it will affect us for a long time. He may not like any of the plans he’s been presented with but he doesn’t want to rush into another plan that could end up a poor and unproductive and expensive plan that doesn’t take us forward in the short, medium or long term. I’m sure he and the owners have penty of ideas but they want to take time to get them right before any big glitzy announcement thst they later regret. Which I’m sure with regards to the bigger picture I’m sure is why Chris Heck has been appointed and why Mr Purslow was allowed to leave, without much effort to retain his services.
  15. That begs the question, “why?” Away fans aren’t supposed to enjoy themselves!! Ok, I’m partly joking an overall good experience, ruined by the result for them would or should be the ultimate aim. A new stadium in town isn’t a terrible idea and has plenty of merits but would we be able to go, “up town mate?”
  16. 1970s or 80s that should say my texting whilst not around back then doesn’t improve with the passing of time!!
  17. Yes I’d agree that most things point towards our future being a good one. Ok it’s not likely that we will win the PL or CL anytime soon but the dreams should never be dismissed completely. In my lifetime we’ve been in the third tier and almost bankrupt on a couple of occasions and yet have won the league and been champions of Europe. I saw my first ever Villa game at Villa Park when we were in the third division, it’s had its ups and downs but never been boring. We’re like no other club on earth, nothing good, bad, glorious or downright disastrously depressing can ever be ruled out and that’s as true today as it was in the 2970s and 80s or more recently. I think that Spurs have a chairman/CEO that’s similar in his mind set to Doug. A good businessman but frightened to spend money on footballers, that being humans aren’t always reliable. I hope he stays at Spurs for a long time yet! Doug did a lot for our club but his faults are well documented, so I won’t go over old ground again! The worst thing he ever did was possibly to sell us to Randy, who’s heart may have been in the right place on the face of it but he wasn’t a proper businessman, who’d msde his own money, things went from bad to worse though when he sold to Xia, who didn’t actually have either money of any idea how to make any. It appears now though that third time lucky we’ve got it right in the football ownership lottery, which our history will tell us that anything could happen but I’d prefer to hope that my glass is half full rather than half empty. Athens in May? Would you bet against us?
  18. Fortunately he’s in the right place to get all the Unai he needs and I’m sure he’ll improve as a result. A diamond that needs a cut and polish to really sparkle!
  19. True this is the part of the season when they tend to go very Spursy too.
  20. Yes but the best centre half we or anyone else, ever had used to play in midfield for his country, so perhaps it shouldn’t be an idea to dismiss so readily? Perhaps as a one off for this game considering the circumstances?
  21. Oh maaaate!!!!! The gift that keeps on giving is never too away when we need them!!!
