Nope a press conference was held this morning to announce to the world our shoe string budget.

I dont think it is at all fair, or possible to make an accurate conclusion on a player on the basis of three games. I have to admit he has pissed me off alot in the last three games I just think its completely unjustifiable to go from praising him, which im sure you did, pretty sure sure it was alot more than thinking he was looking "ok" to not sure at all. I dont doubt he needs to address a few of the issues raised recently but assess him on the season as a whole. Without him, we would be screwed more than we are now. Would Bent of scored the ones he did ? Would Bent of got the assists he did ? Would Bent hold the play when were backs against the wall and give our midfield an opportunity to move up the pitch and retain possession ? I beg to differ. This isnt a Bent vs Benteke argument for me. Bent is a quality player but we do not have the players at the moment to combine the both of them. That being said its not worked at all the last three games so i reckon tekkers and bent should start next game. Anyway this is the transfer talk thread, but I have faith that both Lambert and Lerner know their are issues and are going to address them. I always felt we would be around here come January, arbeit not on the form were currently on but a good transfer window, few injured players returning and we could be ok. 1 x cb 1 x dm 1 x cm 1 x w/am 1 x cf Fairly outrageous wish list though.

Doyle ? Are you seriously suggesting Kevin Doyle as a potential answer to our problems? Apart from my dingle mates not rating him what so ever, mates who are ST holders and who I believe know a little bit about footy I have yet to see anything from Doyle apart from that one season in the premiership to suggest he could be of benefit to us. By all accounts and from when iv seen him play in the last 3 seasons he he is a runner, no that technically gifted and his overall game is average at best. Were in trouble, and we can with the right signings move away, but to suggest players of Doyles ilk is madness i reckon. Do you honestly believe he can address a number of our issues? We cant score goals at the moment... can he ? 117 appearances, 23 goals. 9 of which came when he had that great first season in the prem. Since then 83 appearances 12 goals.

Morpheous is not acceptable to disagree with an opinion of someone once, and agree with them another time. I know there is a level of credibility about Shearers view of a complete all round CF performance, however although Beneteke made a mistake (big **** deal who hasnt made one) the goal was preventable and not directly his fault so I disagreed with Shearer on that issue.

He had a tough start, im not suggesting anything else, he struggled but he wasnt woeful and under Lambert and our coaches he could really push on. Have some faith, cant question if a player will come good after a handful of games in the premiership.

For me a athletic CM is a must, someone who can protect the defense and drive forward we have nobody who drives forward with the ball. Having a CM/DM capable of that would relieve so much pressure and obviously open up our options attacking. For me, its imperative that we address this concern.

Iv seen him play a few times last season and I thought he was good, a real talent. He started alot of games for Schalke last season and came of the bench a few times, Sadly we dont have a cat in hells chance of signing him. Playing for them this year although slightly less but they have strengthened considerably, shows they still want him. We have recently been linked with Diouf, which i saw on here. Not a massive fan, if we were to go for a striker from Hannover for me, it should be Abdellaoue, realistic or not he would offer us something.

I was merely replyin to a post that emphasised you cant have a 24 million pound player on the bench. Given that he has only just returned from injury, he will undoubtedly get his chance, but prior to his injury I thought he was complete tosh. Frustrating really, as in a certain system he will bag goals for fun, but is it worth the risk of playing a player wont do anything but could score, or play someone who is far more likely to be involved but doesnt have the scoring capability.

Ahh I see. Lets start playing players based on their transfer value, regardless of performance. Silly old me thought players get the nod based on form and fitness.

Deffo - when Gabby's in the form he was in the other night he's not unlike Rooney in the role that he plays, running at defences from deep and bringing in the other striker. I reckon it's why he thrived under O'Neill's system - he was able to burst forward from deep as we caught teams on the break. They don't call me the Football Professor for nothing*. I think Gabby's general play is good enough and well-suited enough to do Ireland's job, or pretty close, but with the added bonus of pace and ability to score actual goals. Saying that, hope SI gets well soon, I like him as a player fwiw. *or, indeed, at all. I like Gabby, but he hasnt the footballing intelligence or ability with the ball at his feet to do what Ireland does.

Gutted, put his body on the line for England and more often than not turned up. Truly gutted he has retired from international footy. But this just speeds up the process of bringing others through.
