  1. Did he? We needed lots of improvements on last year but it he was given a limited budget I think it was a bit of a stupid decision to buy lots of players not good enough instead of 2 or 3 better signings. He didn't spend what he had wisely but that's not my main issue with him. His tactics, his substitutions and his abysmal coaching is playing a big part in keeping us down the bottom of the league. Well I disagree that he is an abysmal coach, his tactics at times are questionable but the logic behind them isnt, our players just arent good enough. He came in with loads of bold and forward thinking ideas of how to play football, make our own brand but the players werent up to it. Regarding transfers, he was always going to have to buy a new RB and LB. Lowton is better than Hutton, dont get me wrong he is far from good but he is ok, given the circumstances we found ourselves in I think its turned out quite well in regards to him. Bennet is one that hasnt worked out as of yet, but I feel if we had a team of older, more quality and settled in players like Bennet would be able to flourish and develop far quicker than they are at the moment, I dont doubt they can make the step up, Im just not sure if they can do it in a team full of other people trying to step up ( if that makes sense ??? ). He brought in KEA identifying that we needed a bit of presence, he looked like he could be good initially but ofcourse it hasnt worked out as of yet. Benteke has been great, Vlaar has been solid, not spectacular. He makes the occassional mistake but I really feel for our defense, at times we have zero confidence in keeping the ball and its just relentless attack after attack so mistakes are highlighted. Ashley Westwood is a player who next to a solid DM (lets hope Sylla fufills that role) can flourish in my opinion. Ball passed to him he ticks it over into the next phase of play.
  2. I do feel he has made mistakes and hasnt done as well as I would of liked. Just so you dont blow your top.
  3. I have always admired him as a coach for his respective achievements long before he came to us. I respect him because he was, as far as i was aware prepared to leave a cushty job with much lower expectations to try and turn our fortunes around despite the severe financial implications, and because of this I talk about him like a god ? Take you long to come up with that ? Because I dont slate him and think all this is his entire fault I must worship him.... I even stated a little higher that he has made mistakes. No I never believed we would go down, I believed we would be there or there abouts and we are. My faith in staying up was a presumption on my behalf that we would invest further in January. We havent. Why are you continuously making out like im sucking Lambert off ? I never actually said how I think he is performing this year my posts referred to the restrictions he has to face. I think its impossible to asses his tenure fairly without considering the shit he has to deal with. Well apart from his previous accolades, I understand the systems he wants to implement. Sadly, for us, we dont have the players able to do so in the squad or the money to bring them in. I totally agree that in certain games he has made mistakes but I disagree that week in week out he makes baffling calls. Our set piece record is alarming, however ratio wise its not the worst in the premier league, its just we give so many corners away ( Lamberts fault ofcourse ) that it increases the likelyhood of conceding, that being said we do need to improve. Not arguing that. I think he was one of the best we could get, he is attempting to install progressive football but the players aint good enough, but his decisions, and at points throughout the season his stubborness may of cost a point or two. He had to bring in 1/3 of a squad with 20 million for christ sake, with limited wages who the hell was he going to bring in after two seasons on the decline we hardly a massive attraction! He was thinking long term and I like that, do you not think given more resources he would of liked to sign better players ??? Jesus wept! People like Hutton and Warnock had to leave regardless of what he thought, they were shite and on high money, he brought in players which were younger have the potential to improve and on half the wages, financial restrictions are the obvious issue. If we had more money, we would probably have better players. How many of his signings were actually youth ?? People make out like we signed tons of lower league 18 years old but we didnt. The issue is not age, but quality and we dont have the resources to go out and buy players who are far more likely to succeed. There is more to football than playing 4-4-2. Its an evolving game and I understand the concept behind his formation and tactics. Sadly, we are chucking players in at the deep end who might not be ready, with a few better players around it might not be so bad but its the situation we find ourselves in due to our owner. When i refer to the shit he has to deal with, im talking to reduction in wages, limited investment ( 20 million for 1/3 squad is nothing special ), players who arent good enough, players who dont care. Ofcourse he has the backing of the club and fans and rightly so.
  4. How do you know he hasnt asked for more investment ? End of the day its not down to Lambert, its Lerner, if he doesnt want to invest he wont. If he said it cant be done, he wouldnt be our manager and he clearly wanted to be, he believed he could do it. If he said it no, someone else would of come in under the same circumstances. Its not as if Lerner would invest a bucket load of cash just because a manager wants more investment.
  5. By your logic no one would manage us who isnt a yes man. End of the day if Randy isnt willing to invest he wont. Lambert wanted to turn our fortunes around, who knows the extent to which he made away of future financial spending, although you would suspect it would of been made clear enough. I cant quite grasp your reasoning for him to walk. I dont disagree with any of the three points you made, we do need more money in wages, we do need to invest more money but I cant believe your blaming Lambert for not saying that to him.
  6. Ahh I thought your initial post was a criticsm of Lambert, I agree wholeheartedly. We need more money to be invested, its pretty simple yet randy cant see it :S
  7. And get who in excatly ? You saying he should leave because he is a yes man, if he wanted to come and manage this club, revive our fortunes around despite the severe financial restraints randy has implemented I have nothing but respect and admiration for him. He is a top coach working under ridiculous conditions. People conterminously question his signings, it is clear that when he arrived people had to leave, he had to bring 1/3 of a squad in on 20 million pounds and minimum wages. When people question his signings, which they are entitled to do it seems they completely forget the hoops he has to jump through. Im not saying he hasnt made mistakes, he has. I want him as manager even if we go down, only coaches who are far far out of our league could do much better than Lambert and the crap he has to put up with.
  8. What else can we do ? You cant get the kind of quality that we need for a million, there has to be a compromise you have to either strike lucky and find a gem ( who knows we might of ) or buy in the hope they can come good.
  9. Your right.... Its more hopeful than anything else Im just trying to justify my hope and I dont want to accept that he wont reinvest until I have to
  10. He wasnt good, but he wasnt terrible. Thats notthing to boast about but considering it was his PL debut, we had our backs against the wall, against a very good team it was always going to be tough. Look forward to seeing him in a few more games !
  11. That was in the midst of severe cost cutting, the reduction in wages is well on its way. I dont think you can use other examples of not reinvesting to say we wont reinvest any money if we do sell Benteke. If we dont that would be criminal. My opinion of Lerner has changed considerably but I still have faith he would reinvest any money made from a potential sale of Tekkers
  12. He got bossed yesterday, I think at times people can be a little to critical of him but he has been thrown in at the deep end, things havent quite worked out and now you can clearly see he has zero confidence. Needs to be dropped, hit the gym and learn of Vlaar. Sad that its come to relying on such in experienced lad at CB, and when things go wrong he gets slated.
  13. Its a dark day when we think getting carragher on loan is fantasy football Isnt that term usually saved for players that are actually good !! He would never come though, nor would i want the slow illiterate arse hole. Sent Sylla out as a AM ? When i was watching, and not shaking and covering my face with my hands I didnt think he was a AM :S he was pressing high at times to try and win the ball back, rather than sit back (which we did anyway) but the intention was to defend from the front. Massive difference.
  14. Kept it, took the pole off! regardless of the defeat still a villa fan and I like the flag, why wouldnt I keep it.
  15. you genuinely think we wont sign anyone ? If so, why post on this thread.
  16. Capoue is a excellent player. Seen him on a number of occasions and generally keep up to date with French football. he is outstanding.
  17. Could happen.... most probably wont. I do think though that a new DM would improve us tenfold. I mean make a huge difference to the side. If we were to add a little quality in an AM position our ball retention and attacking threat would be twice as good. Were a couple players of from having a team more than capable of staying up, its just a case of can we get them in!
  18. I sincerely hope not. I dont think it will be... thankfully.
  19. I swear I read that he wants to go back to Scotland. Had a horrible time down here with really bad personal problems, he lost a kid ? (during pregnancy??). I dont think a trip 2 miles down the road offers the fresh start he apparently wants. Also he isnt the answer to our issues, he was so promising when Baggies went up but he is half the player he used to be. I dont think the reported asking fee is value for money , nor do I want him. I think its pretty easy Journalism to link him to us, or at least thats what i hope it is.
  20. I dont think anyone is saying we will be fine to be fair mate, I think people just have faith that players will be brought in or at least are being attempted to be brought in. Lambert has acknowledged the need to improve and bring players in so its a little more to go off than absolutely nothing and making shit up like some are. Almost as embarrassing as the suggestion Karl Henry would be a good buy
  21. Im pretty sure your point was they have knocked off for the day. Why do you make this crap up. I really want to know what historical events your referring to ! No I dont think we will sign anyone today and although I would of liked people in before today Im sure PL and the back room staff would of aswel. But things dont always go to plan and the selling club doesnt always roll over and let you pork em. Things take time, some clubs say no but realistically none of us have ANY idea what the hell is going on. We just have to hope the signings we do make are as made as soon as possible, and are good enough.
  22. At least they cant play for them Also RE: Cana. He was horrid in his time at Sunderland. He is exactly the kind of player we dont want to sign.
  23. No worries, I think on face value we have a good shot at getting him. By all accounts (Italian mate....) Lazio generally hold him in high regard but at the moment cant play him. Id welcome him with open arms. Stick him LB happy days. CB / CM is the priority as everyone knows, if we was to get Cavanda and a creative midfielder, we would be such such a better team.
