  1. Completely agree, why even discuss it ? Christ its not as if he didnt play at all last season for City. They have a great roster of players, not all of them are going to start every week. Even if he did want to leave, and City would sell him, why on earth would he come to us ?
  2. He is left out of Liverpools squad for their qualifier, reckon he is off to Newcastle.
  3. Your understanding?? Why do people make out as if they have some inside bloody source?? Im presuming, by "my understanding you mean I read on goal.com ?
  4. I like. ALOT ! If i manage to grab tickets for first game I HAVE to try that song
  5. Stumbled across this from: http://www.lfcts.com/liverpool-make-up-transfers-to-discover-mole/ However soon after the article was removed lol ! **** scousers !
  6. I dont know but where are my balls .... waheeeyy ! Downing passed the medical at Villa in plaster cast did he not ?
  7. Mantis you are bang on there, to suggest we have to buy within the premier league to bring in quality is unbelievable. How you can even suggest that CI, after some of the people you would want to bring in ( Murphy ). For a few years now we have all wanted us to dip into the foreign market to expand the amount of players who could come to us and improve us, now suggesting we need to buy proven PL players? So basically have a similar transfer strategy to what we have had over the years. There are hundreds and hundreds of fantastic players all over the world who we could look to bring in. Just because you dont know of them doesnt mean they dont have the quality to succeed in the PL
  8. I would imagine their respective first team stats back it up quite easily actually (without even looking) Haha how to win a debate. I ask you how bent is 5 times the player Carroll is and you say "I would IMAGINE" followed by "without even looking" haha! How's the crack?? Not after a row, however if you're going to simply ridicule over people's post and therefore opinions, be prepared to justify yours..... So HOW ( with proof) is bent 5 times better than Carroll! Or is it shock horror, just your opinion? Boom!! His goal scoring record kind of speaks for itself, Bent is undoubtedly, currently a better player than Carroll. Are you suggesting Carroll is better than Bent or are you just trying to prove a point about opinions ? I would happily take Carroll. I dislike him, alot, almost as much as I dislike his fat head and the ridiculous hair he has connected to it. That being said towards the back end of last season, and his time at Newcastle he started to do the things that make him such a pain in the arse to play against. There arent to many players in football like him, not at his standard. He is a real asset to any side, a number of issues contributed to him being a mahoosive flop at pool. I feel under a manager like Lambert he could thrive. That being said its a lot of money and I dont think we would offer him 80k wages. Why go through brutal cost cutting just to chuck money about silly again ? That doesnt mean we cant get him. Even if we do spend 15 million on him ( subbed by knocking debt off Liverpool for downing deal ) I dont see that as a bad thing, aslong as it doesnt effect strengthening other areas of our side. Lambert undoubtedly knows we need newfaces and isnt stupid enough to blow our entire budget on one player. I think its a long shot, and I wouldnt be bothered if we missed out on him, but id quite like him at the Villa.
  9. Im far from a regular poster, but I read this forum most days and however frustrating it can be when people who clearly arent ITK claim to be, this forum is a much duller place without said posters relaying the information they recieve or in some cases just making it up. It has to be taken with a pinch of salt but it gets us all a little excited and im man enough to not see any ITK stuff as concrete so if it does goes tits up i dont have to throw my toys all over VT like some of you lot. This thread was far better when the likes of JulieB was posting snippets here and there, so what if people get it wrong, it just means they are less reliable than others. Doesnt mean they shouldnt post. I say if you hear something, post it. If you dont like people posting speculation, I Suggest you stop reading the bloody thread.
  10. We certainly do. Do you speak so condescending to everyone ? First accusing me of making an opinion based on the fact he doesnt play for one of the traditional big clubs in england, and now saying I have un realistic expectations ? Cant quite remember saying I expect us to be top 6, cant quite remember anyone else on this thread recently saying we should finish top 6. Where are you getting this from ?? I am fully aware we have limitations in terms of wage, transfer kitty and the pull of the club at the moment. However if all i have to look forward to is signing more mediocre players for a team which distinctly lacks quality then im not going to be thrilled. Id rather us take a punt on Nathan Clyne than sign Simpson.
  11. Hmm, interesting. D Siimpson on free transfer maybe? I think Danny Simpson has a year left on his contract, but is stalling on signing a new one. Would love to sign him, so that would be ideal and we could get him for a decent price. Could also mean a move for the Forest player Gunter. Are we seriously suggesting we should sign Simpson ? We had to put up with Hutton and now people are approving Simpson. I see him as a pointless signing, straight up mediocre player. He is stalling signing a new contract because Newcastle have openly made a bid for a new RB and are on the trail of other full backs ... because he simply aint up to scratch, he is not good enough for a top 10 side. Gunter isnt worth looking, we need to improve our defense and these two would add nothing more than a few more thousand to the wage bill .... Where is our ambition ? Our plan to build for the future, I know we cant go out and sign the worlds best but the above two would be shocking signings. Well actually Newcastle has tried to extend Simpson, but are looking elsewhere because he does not look likely to extend. I reckon you have not watched much of Simpson this past season and that you are just saying his is not top 10 caliber because he does not play for City, Utd, etc. He performed quite well over the past year and did so consistently. You "reckon" wrong then. I more than capable of forming an opinion based on the games i see. Im not going to lie and said I watched him play 10+ times, but i watched over half a dozen games he played in, and obviously MOTD etc, ofcourse that is a highlight show so wont show his whole game but im not stupid, I dont base opinions on footballers by what club they play for or what country they are from. The fact you even said that suggests to me you probably do what you accused me off. Simpson is mediocre. Im more than aware of huttons flaws but Simpson is not the answer. He performed consistently, your right but he wasnt good. Since when is a player who is capable of playing quite well the answer to our problems. Thats simpsons best season yet Newcastle still want to sign a new RB and another LB.... Santon can play RB too, Newcaslte must think so very high of him. To confirm I dont think he is awful, but he is mediocre. Apologies for not wanting another shocking season !

  13. Happiest iv been about villa in what feels like a very very long time. Fantastic appointment, now we all have a summer of rebuilding to look forward to Im not expecting miracles but I honestly believe he has the credentials to push us back up where we belong, and actually set up to win games
  14. Hit the nail on the head. We shouldnt be looking at positions, we should be looking to consolidate, build a foundation this summer of a team who can, go on to better things in the future. We all know we need to rebuild, change the brand of football, look like were going to try and win games, attempt a cheeky cup run and i dont think we can moan to much aslong as were safe from relegation !
  15. He tried to play football in the correct manner and it didnt work in the premiership. Leaking goals and not getting enough results. Im all for a manager coming in who wants to play football but I want one who can do it well enough to get results. If he isnt good enough for baggies why on earth is he good enough for us ? Havent we learnt the lesson of appointing managers who aint good enough for local rivals? Im not saying he is a bad manager but we are at the begining of a massive rebuild job and i cant understand why anyone would think RDM has proven credentials to take over us, rebuild our club and push us up the table. His league form with Chelsea wasnt great, he got outplayed in every single Champs league game he managed but managed to scrape through, which he should take some credit for he instilled a great sense of pride, togetherness and work rate in that side but is that do with his managerial skills or the fact he is a Chelsea legend and the players had rallied around him after the AVB situation. he has done admirabbly at Chelsea but there is a reason why they arent offering him a brand new contract after he won the only trophy RA has been after since coming to England. I dont want him.
  16. As much as id love Martinez cant see it happening, gotta be realistic
  17. For me it has someone who hasnt be around the premiership / SPL block. We need someone with new fresh ideas and someone who can inspire confidence in the players. Stand out candidates, of a semi realistic nature would be Lambert / Di Mattero / Martinez. My personal favourite would be Lambert. As a player he was successful, and was part of the great Dortmund side and has the exprience of the elite side of football, and has european influences. I appreciate the fact that being a good player does not mean you will be a good manager, however he has that winning mentality himself, and has clearly gone about installing that sense of belief and winning mentality at Norwich. back to back promotions to the Premier League, and a fantastic first season. He doesnt play slick Swansea esc football, his teams are well organised and gritty but they play attacking football ! He has the credentials, motivator and tactically sound, I want him at Villa. He could do wonders, Eck is right, Villa are in transition, but he aint the man to take us through this period. UTV
  18. I completely agree with you. Him being rumoured with us is lazy journalism by the media, and the bookies trying to make a few bob by offering odds that will entice a few people in and will always make them money. Lets be fair, he is a world class manager. For me, in an ideal world, and i must stress that. David Moyes or Owen Coyle would be fantastic. Both would be difficult to get, however i feel both would push us back up to challenging for 6th. Coyles brand of football is good, and we all know the credentials of Moyes. Moyes has repeatedly said that he is happy at Everton but how much further can he take them, their best players are always sold ( 3 of ours have over the last 3 seasons ) but we reinvest that cash and more, unlike Everton where he is feeding off the scraps. With more and more clubs spending, the gap between the big 5 and the rest of us will start to increase, clubs like us have the financial clout to improve the squad. Thats one of the few reasons why i think Moyes would come to us ! Anyways, if neither of those two come in i would quite like Martin Jol in with a director of football coming in to. UTV
  19. Nor can I. Do people really want that brand of football? Its unsustainable, its never going to get us challenging for Europe ( long term aims of Randy lerner ), we will be stuck in mid table mediocrity. We need someone like Jol in, whether he is appointed now or kevin mac takes over for the rest of the season. GH needs to leave, our squad has a few egos in it and GH cant deal with them and the crisis were in at the same time. He is inept and needs to leave. The club shall always be bigger than GH and the players. Lerner has invested to much ( cannot believed his sanctioned so many of oneills deals - ill put that down to being naive ) for him to let GH drag us down.
