  1. exactly! and what if Watkins discovers scientology? Or aliens steal his feet?
  2. I remember when Jacob was given game time and he struggled from time to time and many said he wasn't ready or good enough, but we persisted and now he's probably in the top 20 midfielders in the country. People wrote off Bidace many times, even based on his loan performances and yet many now think he could be like a new signing and want him to stick around. I will stick my neck on the line and say if Archer got game time he would score goals, not saying he would be at the level we need him to be, impossible to speculate at this point, but seem to recall him scoring against Chelsea in the cup, no one was bleating he's not good enough then. Just funny how some use a few pre-season game 'cameos' to write him off. I have no idea if Unai rates him either, oh wait forget to end with 'whatever Unai thinks I trust him' which is true, but don't need to state it every ten seconds.
  3. what happens when Watkins gets injured? Or even tired? Or we are losing in a match and need to try something different. I don't think Bailey or Diaby are really the answer - neither is Traore (if for some mad reason he sticks around). Duran hasn't played 90 mins yet or even 20 mins for us. Not saying Archer is the answer but i'd play him over Duran as it stands, especially because Duran has had no preseason. No issue with him going on loan or selling him with a buy back clause, but we need another striker who can deputise when needed. As much as selling Ings was the right move, it was a huge gamble. Fortunately Watkins didn't get injured, but i wouldn't roll the dice again.
  4. The Russians stopped spaffing money like this about ten years ago.
  5. Feels like there is no story without another team ready in the background to offer more - there has to be drama to get those clicks For the links to get to this stage it tells me usually that we know the player wants to sign for us, we've prob even floated personal terms that work now. Now it's time for the selling club to try and ramp up the price and for the gutter press to make up b*llocks.
  6. Nope didn't understand Arsenal's obsession with him either
  7. based on pre-season form i would have definitely started him, utterly gutted. Thankful that Diaby and Philogene have looked good in preseason and signs of life in Phil. I love Buendia because he has bite and tenacity, like a wild terrier, as frustrating as he can be as sometimes that frustration and hissy fits work against him, but he offers something no other Villa player currently does - (Diaby might who knows).
  8. is this related to pushing Darren Bent's electric butt plug?
  9. we've definitely seen him this summer
  10. Interesting to see what will happen to Tim (surely another loan) Davies (surely a sale) Hause (pay him off?) Must be a few others we would loan out I wouldn't sell A Ramsey, there is no reason to think he can't be as good as his brother - who needed a run in the team to prove his class.
  11. he's also been playing really well in preseason and ended the season strong, not saying we shouldn't cash in if we get a big offer but he's definitely not a problem player i didn't rate him at all when he joined, but he has been decent in recent times and that rhymes so it must be true.
  12. its a good topic, just sod all to do with transfers
  13. what has a player who no longer plays for us - assists got to do with transfers?
  14. If i needed a Pepe talk i would have hired a life coach i'll get me towel
  15. Do you work for the club? You seem to have keen inside knowledge do you work for Football Insider?
  16. It's the never-ending repetitive nature of the negativity, like venting your spleen at a player over and over somehow makes things any better, like Unai and his team is reading this forum. The same people never miss an opportunity to rant and rave and swing their pants in the air. It's like some take it so personally and believe the player isn't human, they are a machine that should always be doing 110% the best at all times for us because god forbid if they don't. These are heavily overpaid, but they are still humans, all be it they live in bubbles. I can understand if a player is really lazy with poor attitude, not willing to put in a shift or try, but that is not Bailey, that is not Buendia or Watkins. Or McGinn when he was getting dog's abuse not that long ago. Players like Collymore who had so much talent but barely looked Arsed most of the time, players like Lescott and Gabby towards the end, even Grealish who spent 3 years trying to leave the club and twots like Southgate who badmouthed the club after leaving. But while a player is wearing a Villa shirt and trying their best, I will back them, until sold, no matter how much I agree the club is more important than any player. Because jumping up and down and repeating the same 'he's sh*t, inconsistent, gone, done, needs to be sold, not good enough for where we want to be' and so on and so on.... changes nothing no matter how many thousands of times the same people say it. Especially as people think their statements are fact and not opinion, just like everything I am saying is opinion also, not fact..... Bailey and Diaby were electric at times together in Germany, maybe speculate on the chances of recreating that for a change?
  17. I feel Bailey, Coutinho and Buendia seem to be the constant whipping boys on this forum and it gets so nasty, repetitive and tedious. I'm not going to claim all three will have a future with us, or they will pick up form. I hope Buendia will be a key player for us next season. Unless Bailey and Coutinho get massive offers from Saudi clubs - I can't see either leaving, bombing them out to Turkish clubs and paying their wages makes no sense when certainly Bailey has enough in his game to be an asset for us despite his erratic and frustrating form. i am still hopeful Phil can contribute for us also like he did when he first joined, keeping him fit and involved long enough to see it is the challenge. Bailey in a cameo where nothing came off is not worth sharpening the pitchforks for. Even Phil hasn't looked terrible, just rusty as he hasn't played in a very long time. People are laying into Watkins, in fact every time has a couple of games he doesn't score people here write him off, it's hilarious. Bailey can get an assist one game but if he's sh7t the next then the hate comes out.
  18. I think we should set fire to his house and cars and flush his body into space
  19. a shambles defensively but great going forward until the last raft of substitutes and then it fell off a cliff
  20. Awesome going fwd, but our defensive shape has not worked at all
