  1. Some of the abuse he has had has been way over the top and is unacceptable and it will happen to nearly anyone in the public eye. It is part and parcel of the celebrity lifestyle but he does not help himself or the club by rising to it and winding fans up. The life lesson you mention is a good one and applies not only to celebrities but in every day life as it's not only the famous who get this kind of abuse and adults should know better. No matter what he does he is going to get grief but 'two wrongs don't make a right' and responses like the thief pic only restoke the fire.
  2. What happens if having been down for more than one season we cant afford the bang average players?
  3. Who do you think should be the midfield pair at the next world cup? Whoever is in form or a settled two with a decent amount of caps? I'm leaning towards a more settled pair as great centres who understand the poeple around them can win games for you (like Roberts on Saturday) but to do that you have to give them as many games as possible. Joseph did brilliantly yesterday but we have a lot of options available with Slade, Daly, Tuilangi, Barrett, Farrell (prefer him at 10 but never mind) etc. There has been too much chopping and changing under Lancaster so I'm keen to see what Jones will do but feel that there will be some very good players struggling to get near the starting 15.
  4. Wales beat us at home in 2012 and as you mentioned we lost two on the trot at home in the world cup. We are probably favourites at the minute but no guarantees at this point as Wales will raise their game massively against us and the final game is away in Paris. Their is a good chance that will be the deciding game and France usually have one stand out game each year. We should have a better idea after the 26th.
  5. I think Jones will be quite conservative with his selections until the next six nations. He will want to get off to a solid start and we have to move right up the rankings by the end of the year. If we are not top four in the world we are basically guaranteed another pool of death in the next world cup when the draw is done. I'm also not 100% convinced he knows the Premiership that well yet.
  6. Just read that Phil Gartside has died. Any game I played, whenever Villa were taken over it was always either Graham Taylor or Gartside who was Chairman.
  7. The politics threads are in 'Off Topic', leave North Korea out of the Remi thread until Kim Jung completes his takeover.
  8. We obviously need to drop him if we want to start scoring more goals, the extra 0.03 per game could make all the difference.
  9. He is a back up defender for me atm and I can usually check line ups and manage to switch people out if they don't start. Plus Kompany should be back soon, potentially on the bench on Sunday.
  10. Veretout is on my watchlist. If we had signed a more mobile striker I probably would've picked him up already as I think he will get a few chances and assists; maybe Gabby can work out though. I was tempted by Cissokho but managed to work out a trade for Kolarov instead.
  11. When was this on? I tried to find it on the Iplayer but it didn't show up. I can find a version on YouTube but it's only ten minutes long.
  12. Amavi was sought after in ours for the first week or two but other than him no other villa players have been picked.
  13. Happily take that draw between Wales and Ireland. The best bet for a good running game is England at the minute; we have some exciting young backs coming through who are quick, creative and good with the ball in hand.
  14. I was looking at their whoscored history as well and was very tempted by Khazri and think he will link up well with Defoe. Info I've read on Imbula has him incredibly talented but needs to be motivated to succeed, time will tell if he is at Stoke. I made a gut call picking Imbula over Khazri but never felt completely right about it.
  15. I felt awful for Parisse. MOTM performance apart from missing the kick.
  16. It generally balances out over the years but home games can decide it and be an advantage as you say. England vs Wales is often down to which stadium it is played at. There has been talk of it being expanded and maybe Georgia joining but nothing concrete so far.
  17. Do you reckon Khazri will do well? I picked up Imbula instead and think I might regret it.
  18. I hope you're right but I wouldn't be suprised if they did. I like Garde and hope he is in charge next season but think the odds are against it, for whatever reason.
  19. I do want to believe in survival and the board not being complete numpties but my optimism guage is currently set at 'glass doesn't come into it, pass me the bottle'. Hopefully a few more days like today bring back the optimist in me.
  20. That Leicester result was unexpected. I moved Fuchs to my bench and lost his 28 points!
