Gary Lineker made a good point on his podcast last week. He said a striker who is missing chances during a dry spell will more likely than not come good. It’s the anonymous ones that will struggle. Ollie always has chances, as you say. He’ll be okay. The threat of being dropped (we have alternatives now) and the prospect of a new contract will affect him. I reckon he will hit form again.

He’ll settle and be immense. It takes time. Does anyone remember Moreno’s first few matches? Like a fish out of water. Give foreign players a couple of months before judging.

Word-that-begins-with-F me. Villa had a thing a few years back, you get to play a match in VP for ninety minutes, all for charity. I remember thinking it was pricey but probably worth it to actually play on that grass. It was £500.

Cash’s header? No complaints, he got it on target with pace. Ideally would have been less central but you can’t ask for everything from a full back. Which was McGinn’s?

Liverpool’s first goal was offside, second goal was an unfortunate deflection. Meanwhile Bailey completely missed a fairly easy chance from about six yards out. Had that gone in, the match could have transpired very differently. But also, we were crap. But Emery will sort that. We’ll be fine. I’d like to see him drop a couple of players against Palace though.

Did well today. Top class finish, even if the keeper never should have come. Anyway, I don't think Ollie would have finished that chance. Well done Jhon.

Reminds me of another winger who started breaking through around 17. Six months in the Championship from a loan in January and this fella could be ready at 18.

Smashing it at Kamara’s shin was an “accurate pass”. That statistic doesn’t capture that when his passes are bad, they’re very bad.

He wasn’t great and wasn’t obviously atrocious either. - Maybe could have done better with the goal, but it wasn’t his fault. - Decent save from a deflection, if he dealt with it a little odd. - Zero command the box in general. Came and got nowhere near at least once. Looked uncertain about whether he’d come or go at least one other time. There’s nerves there. - He was at fault for completely missing the Rodriguez cross. He misread the flight and we were very lucky not to concede. He was noticeably not head-on with the opposing player when contact was made. He was off by about 2 yards. - Horrible pass to Kamara could have been costly. - At one stage in the first half Emery lost the plot for him hoofing it, presumably because there was a pass on. I didn’t see a clear pass at the time, so I’d no complaints with hoofing it there personally. - Routine enough save to his right-hand corner at 2–1. This is definitely nit picking but he looked awkward getting down to it. I’m not criticizing aesthetics, what I mean is he looked like he had poor enough positioning/reflexes/responses to it. Could just be his style, but to me hinted at something bigger.

Great away win. Kamara very impressive. McGinn imperial. Cash and Digne provided a lot of the attacking threat, a great little adjustment to the formation by Unai. Moussa is absolute quality. Ollie should have had a couple. Promising subs. Olson a worry. Came a few times when he should have stayed back and/or went to no man’s land. Pau deserves time to adapt but still has the turning circle of a medium-sized tectonic plate.

Yeah that's nice but it's his lack of consistency in videos that's the problem.
