  1. Echo a lot of the football comments. I don’t think I could name an entire first XI of any other club. Am happy to watch a game in a pub with a few mates, really it’s just background entertainment. The pantomime of it all amuses me. I can’t remember when I completely lost interest in actually playing football or any sport, but it was years ago, probably my early 20’s.
  2. I think a lot of my pub stories fall in the “You had to be there and had to be three pints in” category.
  3. Three analogue clocks around the house now with the new time.
  4. Bumping this never popular thread from the safety of having just beaten Wolves. At around the 1:25 mark…Paul Stancliffe, I ask of you, what the **** was that?
  5. Yeah I would say that that was one of our typically banana skin games successfully navigated (Brentford I would argue is the other). Spurs I think still have two in West Ham and Chelsea.
  6. Mid 40’s has been sufficient for survival in recent years, although in 19/20 Charlton went down on 48. After 39 games they were 18th on 45 points.
  7. Maybe it’s wishful thinking but I don’t know, I wouldn’t be massively shocked if they only won one more match. They’re failing to pick up anything against relegation rivals (QPR, Millwall) they’re failing to pick up anything against midtable potentially on the beach sides (Boro, Watford)…if it was another club I think I’d be saying they’re my pick for the drop. I feel like Wednesday and Huddersfield have it in them slightly more to pick up a surprise win. sha are looking bereft at the moment. But yeah, they probably will fluke it again. I do feel like there is more chance of it happening this season than I did the last time they were in this position.
  8. Maybe, I don’t know. I think Coventry will beat them. I’m not at all convinced they’ll win at Huddersfield. So that leaves them with Cardiff, Rotherham and Norwich. Rotherham, yeah 3 points. Cardiff are very midtable and Norwich I think it will depend if they need something from the final day.
  9. Still outside the drop zone, but it’s another game they probably looked at as a strong potential for points and another failure. One point from their last seven games. Play off chasing Preston next followed by faltering Leicester.
  10. True (well, I assume you are correct re the coefficient stuff). I want fourth.
  11. Only watched the first two series. I often think about the people who won the first series of Hunted, watching subsequent series where the winners had up to £100k as a prize.
  12. It’ll come down to whether Spurs will be more Spurs-y than Villa are Villa(-ry?).
  13. Correct. Unfortunately, while I can infer what you mean, the comparison with Star Wars Christmas doesn’t really mean a great deal to me (along with the franchise as a whole). It’s the cast of the sgt pepper film that interests me. Anything that features both Aerosmith and Frankie Howerd must be worth at least a cursory glance.
  14. I keep meaning to investigate Frampton’s collaboration with the Bee Gees (and George Burns). Just to see for myself if it really is as bad as it supposedly is.
  15. And there’s the possibility the videos that don’t provoke a sufficiently angry response simply don’t get posted.
  16. I guess we don’t feel like you do.
  17. Could have easily gone in the cheer you up thread… Guardian
  18. Any public place where the gents toilets don’t have urinals.
  19. Well I suppose some may do so because they might feel a bit “Who gave him the right to paint that? I’ll do some painting too…” Which, y’know, I guess I can’t really argue against. But if graffiti is inevitable I’d rather have “good” graffiti not defaced by less talented folk. Last time I was there, I noticed some of the better designs around Digbeth have been tagged and kinda blemished. So maybe there’s the “who gave you the right…” crowd and there’s a few individuals who take the view “Huh, you’re clearly better than me at this graffiti lark…I’m not letting you get away with that…”. I am guessing, but that’s what I’d say.
  20. A bit of the former, mostly the latter I would say. Seems to be the case that they don’t last too long which will only add to the exclusivity of being able to say you’ve seen it in situ.
  21. “Oh, naughty! You’ve combined metric and imperial!”
  22. 14 pounds in a stone. I typically have to use imperial for a person’s weight to get a sense of things. Kilograms I always have to take a little longer, I typically associate it when I see a maximum weight a lift can hold and it’s usually, I don’t know, 800Kg or 10 persons, or something. I also run in miles, well I think of them in miles. Mainly because we calculate speed in miles (not that I’m bothered about my speed) and a marathon is in miles (not that I’m running a marathon).
  23. What is the proportion of people who have read Jekyll & Hyde who didn’t know what the twist was before they started the book.
  24. They must think you’re looking off-the-scale stunning today, matey.
  25. I suppose it might be expected that they’d look at things in chronological order. So they might go “Check for offside, draw lines…oh no he’s on. Ok now let’s have a look at the handball.” My only guess is that they originally thought the handball would be more obvious than the (possible) offside so it would be easier to come to a conclusion based on that. To be honest, watching it I thought it was all fine, it seemed to work and made sense (the club I support benefited so there is that conflict of interest in my opinion there). It’s just how long it took.
