One of the smartest things Lambert has done is bring in Ron Vlaar and Karim El Ahmadi from Feyenoord. Both used to being the senior players in a team that has been forced to focus on youth like ourselves.
In regards to Holman, whilst he isn't the most technical player to ever grace a football pitch Borussia Dortmund have done very well by having a workhorse in Kevin Grosskreutz out on the wing. It seems to add balance both going forward and in defence and allows the more creative players to get forward so its not all bad.
Only on VillaTalk can a group of players be completely written off before they have even played. I bet if they had a few of these á, é, í, ó, ú, ü, ñ in their name you wouldn't be so critical.
Look at the players we have signed and are interested to sign. You really think we even would consider VDV? No chance... He would not join us anyway, so move on...
No, hence why I said "Van Der Vaart is not going to come to Villa. Not a chance"
Cap'n Jack over at AVTV said it "wasn't the greatest of first halfs"
We scored, hit the bar and had 2 goals disallowed, seems a pretty reasonable half to me.
Sounds like a productive first half!
Unless the shot that hit the bar took a wicked deflection and the two disallowed goals were so far offside that it was pointless even putting the ball in the onion sack.
What is the point in signing someone who struggles to go 90 minutes on the pitch without doing something stupid? Everyone knows how to wind him up so not only would we have to pay his frankly ludicrous wages and cover his current 10 match ban, but we would also have to suffer the inevitable future suspensions and negative atmosphere that he creates.
Not a chance Joey.
Talkshite have just said that their "US sources" believe that Lerner will be looking to invest more in Villa following his sale of the Cleveland Browns for $1.1 billion. They did say however that this investment won't take place until January or next season.
I hate Talksport
Does anybody know why he left Wigan on a free? Not enough game time? or does he think of himself as the next Nigel Reo-Coker who has the world at his feet and a wealth of top European clubs after him?
The claret used in the West Ham and Burnley kits has always appeared to me to have much more blue in it than the claret that we use. That makes it look slightly cooler, duller and less vibrant than the one we use. I'm pretty sure the claret colour that we associate with Villa or more recently the Nike kits has much more red in it making a much warmer, vibrant shade.
Might just be seeing this through the eyes of a Villa fan, though I am an art teacher so I should probably be able to tell the difference.
Very excited to see what the new kit looks like and if its anything like the mock-ups on here then happy days.
The badge that is shown being sewn onto the shirt looks like leather.Obviously going to be some sort of plastic but if it has that leathery look it could be quite nice. An interesting change to the sewn on fabric or ironed on patch.
