Senderos played well today and Vlaar seemed a lot more comfortable with him next to him. Neither of them are world beaters in that position but it's such a big difference without Baker or Clark.

Very pleasantly surprised by performance and result today. Credit where credit due. It's good to have an 11 without a player who is totally out of his depth. Makes such a difference.

Unfortunately no, I think LVG has probably had a bit of a shock and needs to fix it fast. Their defence is so crap and LVG knows what he s getting with Vlaar and knows he can cope with the PL. I d rather they d won and their defence had been brilliant tbh. Their own fans are even arguing about it with a fair few asking for LVG to get him in. True, but I just can't see Vlaar being a big enough name for them, even though he's got the quality. Aren't they getting in Benatia anyway. My cousin was one of those that said the same about Vlaar not being good enough for United. I text him today saying are you sure he isn't good enough? No reply. If their defence continues to leak goals in the next few weeks and they haven't landed all their targets. I can see the bid for Vlaar coming in. Hopefully they don't think he is good enough.

But surely bringing up salary is something you should always ask in an interview??You should never talk about salary in a interview unless asked. But surely you should know the salary range of the job you are applying for? Nah i dont get that. Surely your interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you to see if you can see yourself working for them. Every interview ive ever had ive mentioned salary to confirm it is what I believe so im not wasting my time. I then try and negotiate on the 2nd interview. I suppose if you're shit hot you can ask what you want. I've never brought it up but the interviewer normally has so never been an issue.

I wonder who we beat for his signature. Goes to show there are quality Internationals out there that are so desperate for a pay rise and to play in this league they would even join us. I suppose got to see how good he is first but first bit of good news this summer.

His record throughout his career shows he's a top finisher. Think I'd agree to disagree on this one. His strength is being in the right place at the right time which I'm sure his stats are very good for. Once he has found his opportunity, I think he is somewhat profligate. Not sure how you'd define a stat based on sitters missed though as it's a bit subjective but if such a stat did exist, my feeling is that his stats for converting clear cut chances would not be anywhere near as high as his stat for creating clear cut chances for himself. What a very strange way to look at it. A goal scoring record is based on what it says - goals scored. I think it's spot on - he's no better a finisher than Gabby, but he'd got really good instinctive movement in the box - he'd find pockets of space and he'd anticipate things very well - but his finishing isn't special in my opinion - his ability to sniff out a chance and be in the right place was what made him a useful player. And score goals - hence his goal scoring record. Which doesn't necessarily mean he's a top finisher, or even a great one. But the goals count, of course. The thing is I think he's lost his drive to egt into those scoring positions and just walk around on the pitch without any real interest. I believe he's finished. Me too. Not just finished, but stealing £4m a year. I doubt he is on that much.

For about the same amount we got Benteke, Kozak, Vlaar, Cissokho and potentially Sanchez. Mental. And for the same amount we paid for Bent. It's all relative. The keeper could turn out to be one of the best in the league and Long could easily bang in 15-20 goals every season. They are having to pay over the odds for their targets because everybody knows they have got money to spend. But it also shows the club is backing the manager to sign the players he wants. Really? Since when has he done that in the top flight? Never is the answer. Fair enough but he does work hard and contribute a lot to a team. I really like him and even though me not be worth 12M he is still a good addition to their squad.

Southampton will be in the mix for relegation. I'll have a bet with you if you fancy it. They'll be within 7 points of the drop. Happy to have a charity bet that they finish above us.

The money has gone to their heads. Feel sorry for the fans. After selling such key players, seeing Long arrive for that price is deflating. We're not in a place to feel sorry for anybody's fans.
