  1. Of those mangers who are potentially obtainable I'd love benitez (OK that is borderline unrealistic but not impossible if we sell him our vision). I'd be happy enough with Brendan Rodgers or some progressive young manager who can help set the foundations for a real villa engine. One thing is for sure, if the owners want to achieve their goals then Bruce isn't the man to take the club there.
  2. Hopefully the timeline will be... New CEO, new contract for Grealish, new manager.
  3. I've got a feeling that the first bad run Bruce goes on will get him the sack. I don't think the owners will need much of an excuse to let him go.
  4. I didn't watch the match but when I checked the stats after 60 minutes we had 2 shots compared to 7 for Ipswich. Baring in mind that the opposition had been down to 10 men for the previous 20 minutes it is absolutely inept and unacceptable. We have the players to challenge for automatic promotion, but the manager doesn't know how to get the best out of them. The points we have are in spite of Bruce rather than because of him. The sooner he goes the better.
  5. Tomas Kalas , Tammy Abraham and Odegaard /Maddison would be very solid additions. For LB I don't really care as Hutton is more than capable.
  6. Never gonna Mcginn you up, Never gonna mcginn you down, Never gonna turn around and desert us
  7. This is the enigmatic villa engine Round was talking about. It might only be a scooter engine, but it's still an engine all the same!
  8. I've got a sneaky feeling we might well end up with Marcus maddison as our new winger. We have been linked before, right age (24) and one of the highest number of assists across the leagues. Their chairman said he would probably leave the club this window as a loan to buy. ???
  9. The guy who said that must feel like a complete d*** right now ???
  10. I know the owners want to go for young players but I think it will benefit us immensely to have an experienced commanding centre back like Terry or huth this season.
  11. If you look back on footage of Ronaldo when he first joined man u he had no end product. It came with experience and coaching. If it's a season loan then it's higher risk but a no brainer if its a loan to buy.
  12. ???. Forget snodgrass! Odegaard is a raw, but supremely talented youngster who people have said could one day be as good as Messi. I don't recall snodgrass getting such praise ?. A loan to buy would be unreal ??.
  13. Why bother signing him in the first place then?! We have plenty of options at RB without adding another one to the long list! Bruce should have signed someone he does have confidence in rather than sign a CB to play as a right back because he is scared that the kid will make a mistake. Jedinak made a howler today and he is experienced. Makes no sense!
  14. Everyone said this after Sheffield United last season but he still gets picked ??
  15. I think FFP was being used as an excuse by fake Tony to cover up the fact he was broke. The reality is our FFP situation probably isn't half as bad as was being made out. I have absolutely no concerns about meeting our obligations as, when your family is worth £32 bn, you have massive influence and tend to get what your want one way or another. FFP is a fly in the ointment to NS.
  16. I really don't get FFP. They want clubs to be able to prove they can pay their bills and afford transfer fees, but won't let owners cover it. If the owners put £200m in a ring fenced villa account and signed a legal document saying this money was exclusively for the club and said that they wouldn't withdraw it, why would this be a problem for the EFL?! It really doesn't make sense that owners are not allowed to be an income stream under these circumstances.
  17. You would think this is the most likely scenario. The main concern the EFL would have is making sure clubs don't go bust. Even if we technically breach FFP in the short term they shouldn't have a problem with it as long as there is a realistic plan in place to deal with it going forward.
  18. You have been wanting to say that for 1999 pages haven't you sid?
  19. You will be the fool of the year if you believe this Taveres rumour! He is 29 so is unlikely.
  20. Hilarious! Reminds me of this https://giphy.com/gifs/southparkgifs-3oz8xQS6grCbtPqK7m
  21. Remember what we did with Clint dempsey?! We actually wanted a docent forward but put in a bid on deadline day to give us more leverage for the real deal. Could be the same here.
  22. I think he has been ineffective for about half a season now. Although he has some decent stats he is 30 and still has 1-2 years under his present contract. Giving him improved terms for 2-3 years would be a waste as he won't cut it in the Premier league. If we get promoted this year we will be left paying him to sit out his contract on the bench. Got enough of those already! I like the new owners' decision here. Plus we will probably get 4m for him if we sell now. Success from Watford will be brought in to replace him.
