Yes. Sky sports reported that we made a late bid to sign McKenna from Aberdeen on loan with a view to a £6m purchase in January.

I'm absolutely convinced we will get JT back now. Not only did we try to sign 2 CBs on deadline day but loaned elphick out before we had replaced him. Now we only have two recognised CBs(including one rookie) and surely Bruce isn't mad enough to think we can get through to January with that setup. Maybe this is the situation Bruce wanted all along so that he could convince the owners that JT should return. With a few players going out we might have the wage headroom to accommodate him now as well. High risk from Bruce and will lead to his sacking if it backfires.

A little conspiracy theory... We sign 2 players celtic were after and appoint a new CEO who was on the board when Rodgers was appointed Liverpool manager. Rodgers isn't happy at celtic. Could the stars be aligning? ???

For Bruce's formation to have the a chance of working we need a strong mitrovic-esque target man who will stay fairly central. Kodja on his own keeps going in the channels and isn't particularly great at holding the ball up to bring the midfield into play. No doubt Bruce will sign the smallest, weediest striker then either play long balls to him or put him in goal.

This has to be officially the most boring game in the history of football. I had to recheck the stats on a different app as I couldn't believe neither side has had a shot at goal in 40 minutes of football. Unfortunately it is correct! Unbelievable! -
Terry posted an Instagram picture of him and his wife on holiday today. One person said enjoy your retirement, to which Terry replied 'thanks mate'. From that it looks pretty unlikely he would come back.

Maybe Bruce is deliberately leaving the CB until we have used all our loans up so it will help convince the owners to sign Terry? The fact Terry hasn't joined anyone at this late stage adds fuel to the fire . I find it very odd that an ex defender, who builds squads from the back doesn't seem too bothered about our defensive frailties. Only time will tell I guess.

After nearly 2 years in charge Bruce seems to have completely changed his tune after the Brentford game. Now he is saying he wants to play exciting football and that he feels energy and pace are what's needed. Has he had an epiphany or do you think the new owners have told him that we need to be more entertaining? ?????

I think he is stalling for a better offer. It doesn't take that long to decide whether to sit on the bench at Everton every week or play in the championship with Villa.

Apparently Bruce isn't looking to bring in a CB. I think this is madness and may well cost us come the end of the season.

I'm one of the Bruce out brigade but I thought he got the tactics right with a high press that stopped Brentford playing for long spells. We dominated the ball and caused a few problems. Some of the one touch passing was sublime at times. However it was very one dimensional attacking as we looked to cross on every time we went forward. You need to have some variety to keep opponents guessing. He does occasionally get things right but more often than not he doesn't. With Bruce we will never get the consistency needed to win this division.

Just thinking that if Bruce has managed to pursuade the owners to get an older player on loan then surely Terry must still be a possibility. ???

Why do I get this sinking feeling that even with all these highly rated players coming in, Bruce will manage to make really hard work of getting promoted and make the players appear far worse than they really are?!

I'm starting to get a little bit concerned that we haven't really been linked with any CBs. Surely Bruce (an ex CB) must be looking to get one in. Surely?!

The way people seem concerned about bolasie's injury you would think we are looking to sign him on a 5 year deal! It's a loan. If he is shit then I'm sure we can cancel it in Jan and get a replacement.

I think the chance to manage a club the size of villa with wealthy owners is a much more enticing proposition than managing the likes of Brighton, Huddersfield, Burnley or Watford.
