  1. If we sign Tammy then I'll jump highest if he scores. I don't dislike the guy, I just don't believe he is a proven player at this level which is a view taken not only by some past managers but by a lot of Chelsea fans. People claim he banged in lots of goals last season and that equals proof but at least half of those goals were in cup games against weakened or lower division sides against whom he is a proven striker. £20M is a gamble worth taking, £40M is "proven premier striker" money and Tammy is not that and I think Villa know that !
  2. If we had not seen Tammy have a decent spell with us in the Championship then I doubt there would be much enthusiasm for a player that can't make Chelsea's first team. My concern is that too many here are over-romanticising and living in the past ..... we are playing at a much higher level now and Tammy would need to be significantly better than he was to add anything to Villa 21/22. Has he shown that he can do that at Chelsea ? Clearly they don't think so and have chosen some bang average strikers in preference to him. Personally, I'm not convinced and would certainly not spend north of £20M on him. Would rather spend the rumoured money on somebody playing, performing and proving themselves in the Premier ..... signing players with "potential" should be reserved for the Academy now, we are at a level where we buy proven quality for the first team rather than gamble with maybe players !
  3. That is over simplistic. He set up goals so he must be the bestest. Mount has been consistently good for England for a while now and contributes at both ends over the full 90 minutes. Besides, you do understand that Mount and Grealish play in completely different positions and perform completely different roles don't you ? This continual "Grealish is better than Mount" bitching is about as sensible and relevant as saying "Grealish is better than Pickford" ! As others have suggested, during these tournament weeks we should all be England fans first and Villa fans second. I wouldn't care if Southgate picked 11 bluenoses so long as they played well and won the tournament !
  4. Rightly so because no national manager will ever base his side and his default playing style around one player ...... as Villa have now worked out, you shouldn't really do that at Premier level either ! Jack is not an all round player nor does he have much by way of flexibility in his style. He is what he is and he plays as he plays and unless you are prepared to work around him and with Jack at the heart of everything then you get what we've seen in the last couple of weeks which are games where he barely touches the ball. Villa players will feed Jack over and over because they have total trust in him but top flight England players will not. That isn't because Southgate is telling them not to pass to him but because top players tend to be groomed into not passing to players who are closely marked for fear of them not controlling and working the ball in close. Jack's best role for England is as an impact substitute when we need to abandon the team style and look to game-breakers to change fortunes. Southgate knows that and is using him for that purpose. On top of all this, for those slating Southgate, Jack is NOT fit. He is about 75% at best. If you watch the daily training videos then you can't fail to notice Jack is absent from 90% of the tougher training sessions. His fitness is being carefully managed as will be revealed after Euro2020 has finished and, as Villa fans, we should be pleased about this.
  5. We really need to be better than this. Tammy has consistently failed at the top level and while he might just get it right given yet another chance, why would we take the risk when we can afford a much higher calibre and more consistent striker ?
  6. England will not go close to winning Euro2020 unless Kane starts firing so Southgate will not drop him under any circumstances. You also have to consider that he has had next to no service or support, especially against Scotland and he isn't used to that. His success at Spuds comes from having a lively support structure around him where he is largely the finisher with others creating the chances ..... nobody created chances against Scotland because most of the team were defensive players !
  7. Dip as in plunging off Beachy Head ?!!!
  8. Bugger ..... my local Tesco has sold out of tissues !!!
  9. All Luiz has is potential based on where he was a year ago. Based on last season's form, City wouldn't touch him with a bargepole and I'd be very disappointed if we did. Last season he was mediocre at best and if we want to kick on then we need much better that what he served up most weeks. Personally I would be totally overjoyed if City took him off us !
  10. Can I have cod and mushy peas instead ?
  11. Hey, I'm real excited by that prospect ........... ...... okay I'm over it ..... what's for tea ?
  12. I guess what I'm saying is that I don't agree he has reached "the top" just yet. He has a great engine but I would suggest that has limited relevance at international level. His hold up play is improving but it is not good as yet and his finishing is decent but not great ..... yet. I think he will get there but I'm struggling with those holding their heads in shock that he hasn't made the final squad. Remember too that Southgate builds squads that fit the shape and style he wants to play. He doesn't just pick "the best", they have to be the best fits with his plans. I'm happy with his progress, I'm happy with Southgate's selection and I'm generally happy with the progress England have made under Southgate which has been very, very good.
  13. Ollie has gone from Brentford in the Championship to fringe England squad in one year which is pretty amazing stuff. With all due respect, I think some Villa fans are a tad deluded with their assertions that he should be in the Euro squad ...... its too soon and, personally, I wouldn't have him in my squad just yet. If he progresses even half as much next year then he's a shoe-in for the next World Cup.
  14. 100% this. Luiz is simply nowhere near good enough on this season's form. Way too slow and has morphed from world class to a poor man's Hourihane in twelve months !
  15. Exactly ..... that is the right question that needs answering ! As is always the case with race and equality issues, we hack away at the leaves rather than dig at the roots of the problems. The reason we do that is it requires less thinking and it is less likely to cause upset but it will achieve nothing good at all which is why the likes of BLM and taking the knee is achieving nothing and will achieve nothing. We need to be looking at education, aspiration, culture, influence and all those many things that are complex but critical in making skin colour, race, religion, sex, etc totally irrelevant. We also need to have open discussion no matter how abhorrent we may feel the opinion of others is. Shooting down, bad mouthing and being intolerant of views different to our own is what we should be fighting against. We need to understand where those views originate from and why if we are to influence change for the better. Tyrone - among many others - needs to be better educated himself on these matters. Rather than shooting down those who don't agree with taking the knee or BLM, he should be inviting those people to share their reasoning so that he can both understand them and - hopefully - influence them for the better. If he really wants to make a difference then stop the "like" mining and be brave enough to listen to and talk with (not to) those who don't see the world as he does.
  16. The FA answered that one a long time back by demonstrating that very few black coaches were applying for their badges so when you have no input to the machine, you can't expect output.
  17. Okay ...... you win ..... most ridiculous post of the season ! Take a bow chap !

    Keinan Davis

There is a difference between "complaining about him" and taking the p out of him. He's a Villa lad through and through and no Villa fan should take the p out of one of their own. As I keep pointing out, Ollie has failed to score in most of the games he plays in and I don't hear much criticism heading his way.

He needs game time so needs to go out on loan probably at Championship level. Then when we see him banging in goals the very same pondlife taking the p will be up all night with a box of tissues and moaning about him not playing at Villa.
  20. In fairness she has been very poor to my eyes since she got here. Not sure what she brings other than a reputation. Very weak on the ball, easily bullied out of the game. We can do a lot better and need to do a lot better !
  21. What exactly did he do wrong ? He was strong, held the ball up well, was tough to knock off the ball and more. If you say "well he didn't score" then I don't recall you saying that after most of the games Ollie has played when he never scored either !
