  1. Archer being subbed off now. Was arguably MOTM.
  2. This. His finishing is his strongest attribute, but his strength, control, & pace are all very good too. Out of all our youngsters I think he has the most potential to break into the first team next like JJ has done. Still has a lot of work to do in the press when the team doesn't have possession, but he's been electric this season so far.
  3. Beats the offside trap for a deep cross and with just the goalkeeper to beat, buries it from around the penalty spot. Clinical finish.
  4. His finishing is something else...
  5. PNE gets a goal disallowed. Archer heavily involved in the build up. He has been really lively and looks a class above his teammates. Good blend of strength, control, and a very quick turn of pace.
  6. He reminds me a lot of Defoe too.
  7. Both keepers playing blinders. Archer could have bagged 2 goals. Great save for the first effort and he hit the post from 20 yards out on the second. Starting to look very dangerous.
  8. PNE getting into the game now. End to end stuff with spectacular saves on both ends. Archer seeing more of the ball now.
  9. ...and as I say that Archer is almost clean through on goal from a beautiful through ball played by one of PNE's CBs. Hull's CB is just able to get something on the pass in a last ditch sliding tackle.
  10. Turgid stuff so far from PNE... Playing 5 at the back and completely clueless in possession. Been all Hull City so far. Only looks Archer has had is when they've booted it into the channel for him to try to run onto .
  11. TBH, I think our fans overrate Konsa and underrate Mings. If he was as good of a defender as some think, Southgate would have at least called him up into a preliminary squad at some point to get a better look at him. He is a good rotation option for a team finishing in the European places, but not a nailed on starter.
  12. I'm not getting carried away. Need to just take it one game at a time and beat the team in front of us. On paper, this is the strongest Villa squad since 08-09, but all the teams around us have good squads now too. It's up to Stevie G & team to get us playing up to our potential this season. Let's put 6 past Dirty Leeds and kick off their spiral into relegation contention next Wednesday. UTV!!!
  13. I like Konsa and Cash, but they're now the weaknesses in our team. Konsa's stats are average for a Premier League defender and Cash doesn't contribute enough going forward. A big upgrade at central defender will help more than spending a lot on a DM, IMO. If Athletico is truly interested in signing Cash, we need to capitalize on it and upgrade at fullback. KKH really seems to have something about him, so if he continues to impress on loan, he needs to be around the first team challenging for game time next season.
  14. Beautiful goal... Still in awe that he plays for us!
  15. He'll be rusty until probably April at this point. Everyone saw how long it took for Buendia to get fully fit and used to the pace of the league again, so I expect Coutinho to do some of the same.
  16. As the forum's only Detroit Lions fan, I'm proud to say the entire city supports Matty Stafford and hopes he gets his ring. After 12 years of being ignored by everyone playing for our shitty franchise, he deserves at least one Super Bowl title.
  17. We're 7th in the form table since Gerrard took over... Also, being linked to players does not mean anything if we don't sign someone. If it was actually a priority to sign a DM, we would have signed someone there instead of the players we did prioritize.
  18. You can make the same argument about our defense, strikers, wide forwards, etc.
  19. This Summer: Ings, Buendia, Bailey, & Young for Grealish -> Everyone else thought we were ambitious and had a brilliant window. VillaTalk? Moaning because Smith didn't get a DM This January: Coutinho, Digne, Olsen (On Loan), & Chambers while loaning fringe players out -> Everyone else blown away with our business and thought we had a brilliant window. VillaTalk? Moaning because Smith--I mean Gerrard, didn't get a DM...
  20. Talk about revisionism... Targett wasn't even on Southgate's radar, which is why he kept playing Trippier at LB over Chilwell and Shaw.
  21. Our biggest weakness was our "piss poor" chance creation so far this season. Coutinho and Digne were brought in to address that and, TBH, I don't think the front office/recruitment team could have done any better than those two this window. Also, if a DM was truly our "most conspicuous weakness" and the biggest problem we've had for the past 4 transfer windows, why has Smith and now Gerrard failed to address it? Maybe it's not that big of a priority as some on VillaTalk seem to think it is...
  22. I would love to fleece Arsenal for Watkins. He works hard and has good movement, but his finishing is atrocious and he has shown poor decision making this season. Is he a top 4 starting striker? Absolutely not.
  23. Quite a brilliant window. I'm still in shock that we got Coutinho and Digne this January when I was expecting maybe Ryan Kent on a swap deal.
  24. It's like politics.... You can simultaneously think Trump/Biden/Johnson/[Insert name here] is a bumbling moron on one hand and an evil genius masterminding the downfall of society on the other...
