Well, out of those 100 games if he won the 55 in a row, he would be hailed as the greatest ever. If he lost the 24 in a row he would not be in the job. Stats are important and can paint a picture, however if OGS loses 2 games in a row and he is branded as 'shit' then it's probably wise to look at the wider picture of what results his team achieved. What those stats (and my personal subjective opinion) point to is that he is a successful manager of a team that is statistically likely to finish in top 6. Of course, the expectation has to be much higher, but that is a different discussion.

I think we are just having a laugh here - 90% of us would happily take 10th place now, but as Dean Smith says, he just wants to win the next game. As any team, we have to be aiming for the top - why wouldn't we?! - and in Villa's case, landing 35/40 points away from that is still a big big success.

I think that it must have a psychological advantage on players. They just feel at home as opposed to a place where they might have been only a few times in their lives before. If someone asked you to cook your favourite dish at your mate's house it would be a little different than cooking it at home.
