I could never understand the calls for us to sign Gayle when we were in the Premier league. In the Championship he might do alright, especially at Newcastle and with decent players around him. But I'm not exactly heart-broken that he's gone to Newcastle. For example I'd much rather Ayew, if we can keep him, than Gayle
I remember watching McCormack a few years back, at the time I remember thinking his style was quite similar to Wayne Rooney's. I've a feeling that we won't be trying to sign him, though.
If he and Gayle sign and the goalkeeper that will be close to £30M they will have spent on three players. Ashley said at one time that the money had gone, but when it comes to it they always spend. That's why I wasn't keen on them getting relegated.
Yes I didn't think it would be a realistic name with him being strongly linked to PSG and other big clubs. Just remember L'equipe linking us with him last summer.
I know it's not going to happen, but last year we were linked to Luis Campos from Monaco, for the Technical Director job. He's just recently left them, was strongly linked to Paris Saint-Germain, but denied he's going there.
There's way too much sponsor on the shirt. Two lines of writing and a logo. I don't buy them myself, but I think for people that do, they should have the option of buying the shirt without the advertising, or even one with Acorns instead.
Don't know how reliable they are but according to HITC on twitter, Dwight Gale has agreed personal terms with Newcastle United. I mention it in this thread because, I know he's been talked about as a possible Villa target.
Messi has already scored more club goals than Maradona in less appearences, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a similar story for assists. And he has a better goalscoring average at international level, despite playing with lower quality players, to the ones Maradona played with. I don't think Messi is vastly inferior to anybody.
I don't think England should be going for someone who's only experience of top flight football is getting relegated. There are no standout English candidates, so better to go for someone like Pellegrini or even Emery (long shot) if he doesn't got to PSG or get the Spain job.
