  1. I'm disappointed that we haven't signed more players, as well. If we'd have done the business that we've done so far, under Lerner there would probably have been something of a meltdown. But some of the negativity that I mentioned directly references the Wolves takeover, so I think some of it does have to do with that.
  2. Xia seemed to have won a few people over and then there seemed to be sudden spike in negativity that coincided with the news of the Wolves takeover.
  3. I don't think Xia ever said that three or four would be leaving by the end of the week. Similar with being one of the top three clubs in the world, he might have said it's an ambition, but I don't think he said it's definitely going to happen.
  4. I've unearthed some interesting news there. That Di Matteo along with Wyness is going all the way to China at this stage, shows how serious the club are about making an impact in that country. Maybe the prelude to something interesting.
  5. I don't know anything about the player or the level of interest of other clubs in him, but I would have thought so. The link came from the 'Daily Star', who I believe don't have the best of reputations when it comes to reports of this nature (no offence Daily Star readers), so we might not even be interested in him at all.
  6. Probably would be a replacement for either Gestede or Kozák, but with Napoli and Everton being interested too, his arrival here is probably unlikely.
  7. If we can get this Slimani, then that would soften the blow of losing Sinclair.
  8. The more you know about the lives of the everyday people involved in a news story the bigger the emotional impact it will have on you.
  9. "A Stop at Willoughby" is a great episode of the Twilight Zone.
  10. Islam Slimani is a target according to the Daily Star.
  11. As far as I know there are no actual quotes from anyone at the club, but Gregg Evans said it to be the case in one of his articles. After a confusion he did go on to say that it's got nothing to do with Di Matteo having no more money to spend, it's more to do with the club needing to trim the squad, as we have too many players as things stand.
  12. Two good wins today and a good run around for the players. Hopefully Di Matteo is starting to get a good idea of who he wants and doesn't want going into the new season, which is only three weeks away.
  13. I'm not even sure if that has happened to a single one of our players. Besides it would be unfair to judge Rushian on the performance of others.
  14. If Newcastle were to sign Sinclair, wouldn't surprise me if he scores more for them than the much admired (on here) Gayle does.
  15. Invest in spectacles, never said I wouldn't look out of place as a player just that I wouldn't be hilariously bad. And I sort of joking when saying I speak from the perspective of a top class manager, albeit there's probably an element of truth to the statement.
  16. The Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle have discussed the possibility of signing Sinclair. I think it would be a mistake to sell him to a promotion rival. Edit: The Chronicle is a local paper in the North East of England, pretty much their version of the Birmingham Mail, might even be run by the same company.
  17. I do think these question are rather daft. You don't have to speak to people going into a game of any sort in any sport to know that the most important thing is to win. It's human nature.
  18. When Yuri Gagarin had first landed his capsule on Earth, a woman ran to his landing site and asked him if he had come from outer space, to which he responded, "as a matter of fact, I have".
  19. It's alright saying winning isn't important when we've won. But if we'd have lost all our friendlies having tried new formations and team selections, people would be on here fretting about the new season, saying things like 'I know it's only friendly but this team can't seem to buy a win' or words to that affect.
  20. Well basically it's what I think and I'm presuming that top class managers will think along the same lines.
  21. Was it not José Mourinho who when he first joined Chelsea, said that one of the first things he tried to get into the players was that winning is the most important thing even in a friendly game and he didn't like the idea of them being matches for fitness only, for what it's worth I think O'Neill said something similar. You can try different formations, and team selections and still have winning as the main priority.
  22. Any top class manager will tell you otherwise. Win the game and everything else will come after.
