  1. I think that's a fair assessment - okay so even if Wigan pick up wins against Swansea and Albion I still think we can go to the DW on the last day and avoid defeat. Their 2 easiest fixtures on paper are in the week before the cup final so maybe 4 points from those 2 games might be a little bit generous? West brom have won one in the last six, their form has been pretty poor for a long time, Swansea have also only won one in the last six, Wigan will probably win one of those two games and get something out of the other, their other two are against Spurs and Arsenal. so like ours against Man Utd and Chelsea, probably 0 points for either of us, 1 at the most. which means as we have guessed for a while we will in all probability need at least 4 points from the Sunderland and Norwich game, Then not lose on the last day. A few games ago I though Villa could win 2 and draw 2 of their remaining games, we've achieved half of that, i still think we can get the other win and draw, but I also think we'll at least one more draw more than that.
  2. A draw would help us, A totally unexpected point where next to no one would back such a result and with good reason, it would but us 4 points ahead of Wigan, meaning no matter what Wigan do survival would still be in our own hands, If we match their results we stay up. Also it would also put Newcastle, Stoke and Sunderland One win for us and a defeat for any of them away from falling behind us, because of our goal difference it could be an important point But seeing as it won't happen, lets not dwell on it
  3. This weekend has been a pretty car crash one, with the exception of the Wigan result, at a stretch you could say possibly Newcastle (but I think they will have enough). we couldn't have had a worst set of results. I guess it makes The Wigan game the likely decider. Can't see us getting 4 points clear of them before that game, best I think we can hope for is to be above them on the day, hence needing a draw, was really hoping at least one other team would continue to slide for just a few weeks more, but it just seems fate that Wigan v Villa will be billed as do or die. I've run through a few predictions, some see us staying up with 37, another relegated with 40 on goal difference. It really is just going be down to one result here or there, lets hope Wigan used up all their luck in the win at Newcastle and the draw at QPR
  4. The realist in me can't see past a defeat by at least a couple, unless Villa get a fair and large slice of luck, considering that is the one thing we've never experienced in a game against Man Utd in living memory I'm not holding my breath, but a liittle part of me just won't give up a faint hope we can nick something, but i guess that's all part of being a fan.
  5. so we need a Newcastle and a Man Utd win tomorrow and a Man City win midweek. Followed by home wins for QPR and West Ham, coupled with away wins for Reading and Everton next weekend TBH the only result i see as very unlikely is Reading winning as Norwich, which is all honesty would be considered the least important of those results.it would see us in the exact same position as it stands now with 4 games to go after we lose to Man Utd. Hence making the Man Utd game effectively a free one anyway. guess it underline the frustration at blowing a game we really should have won on the performance today, the week after is crunch time with us playing Sunderland, Stoke Playing Norwich, and of much lesser importance QPR playing Reading The week we play Chelsea, Wigan have to go to Arsenal, Stoke have Spurs at home, So all in all I think if we beat Sunderland and get something from Norwich it will be enough, draw with sunderland it's all up for grabs and I think we would then need to beat Norwich, but we just can't afford to lose that game against Sunderland in my opinion.
  6. A game we should have won by a country mile, wasted far too many opportunities to score, Had a feeling for a draw before the game, But on our performance, when we went ahead thought we would go on and win it easily and should have, Forgot about Villa's shit awful luck that we seemed doomed to fall victim too every game.Another goal to add the freakish list we're compiling this year. Fulham looked very poor and we looked great going forward until it came to the final ball. Overall Very disappointed, we played well enough to get all three points today so two points dropped rather than one won for we.
  7. can we please have a public stoning of Rafa the fat spanish waiter at villa park, he deserves it for his teams constant capitulation against every one of our relegation rivals since beating us 8-0
  8. Or maybe it suggests he has a sense of humor about the whole thing, either way, he looked decent the very few times i saw him,
  9. I think we're due more than one, Clean sheets against Sunderland, Wigan and Norwich and Fulham would be a nice end to the season
  10. just need Fulham to beat Newcastle 10-0 to move up another place.
  11. Just relieved, thought this was very winnable before the game, stoke were even poorer than I thought they would be, but for 15-20 minutes it was as if we decided to help them seeing as they couldn't create any chances or pressure on their own and we did what we've done so many times this season, went from composed and playing well to utter garbage and gave the opposition hope and belief in the process. For once it went our way, last 3 minutes shows how we can do it, we kept hold of the ball and i don't think stoke got near our half, that's how you close a game out, We should be able to do that at 1-0. Now if we could cut out the suicide tendancies we'd be fine. guzan MOTM for me, strong, commanding and reliable other notable mentions, Gabby first half, Thought Baker did more than Ok, Weimann was unlucky and gave his usual high energy display, Westwood keeps the team ticking over nicely, Oh and Lowton for that goal, despite struggling with a knock, he seemed determined not to come off.
  12. Villa once again doing all the hard work for the opposition, time and time again failing to deal with the ball in defence when we have the chance, failing to hold onto it when we do.putting ourself under pressure and taking it off the opposition.
  13. oh and come on Swansea, help drag Norwich into the mix, think it's possible for a few teams on 34/35 points to begin cracking if they start to feel a little pressure
  14. should be 3 up really, awful first touch by gabby (before his terrible dive) robbed him of an easy chance to beat the on rushing keeper, thought Weimans was in when he first hit it, Overall good first half, deservedly in front, would be nice to win one comfortably though and help the goal difference a little.
  15. read about this some time ago, the article gave pointers to help support your claim you don't receive tv broadcasts. so if you're checked on your ok, apparently they do checks, one was to remove your tv areal, or at least disconnect any areal cables, i have thought of doing it, i can't remember the last time i watched any broardcast tv, but it must have been a handful in the last 12 months, i often go months without putting the tv on to watch anything but dvd's. I really wouldn't miss the ability to watch tv as i so rarely do.
  16. I'm quite shocked by the Osbourne story about parking in a disabled parking space being considered newsworthy, When I heard it on the news and the fuss surrounding it, I immediately thought, there is no way he would have been driving (we have people paid for by taxpayers to do things like that) and the buck really does stop with the driver in such things, Also, from what I've seen and heard from Gideon, I've always though he's obviously suffering from some severe mental incapacity which is clearly a major disability in his cognitive powers, I've always believed this is cornerstone behind the reasoning Ian Donkey-smith's persecution of the disabled (well maybe reasoning is giving Donkey a little more credit than he deserves, but I'm sure 'ability to reason' was mentioned on his CV so must be true). After all if a Retard like Gideon can get such a well paid and important Job, then clearly there is no excuse for any other disabled person and anyone claiming benefits must obviously be a work shy skiver.
  17. Forgot about HP, probably because I'm so used to not buying it, the reasons I don't aren't at the forefront of my mind
  18. Sky and anything to do with Murdoch, Santander, worst experience Ever banking with them, online banking system wasn't fit for purpose and spent far too much time on help lines because of this, will never no deposit money or have any sort of account with them ever. BT, unfortunately currently very difficult due to them being the only landline provider, so currently insist on using intermediate providerd (yes I know i Bt get most the money but at least I'm not a direct customer. I live for the day i can finally rid this profiteering shit bag of a company from my life. Apple, for so many reasons already given by others Halfords (autocentres), bad experiences of there shady if legal way of doing business.
  19. Nice to see Burke finish joint top scorer in the competition with that late Penalty taking his tally to 7, with Drennan who missed the last 3 games third with 6 .
  20. Yes... I'd like to know how it got to the point whereby any player can direct expletive-laden invective in the face of referees and nothing comes of it. Regardless of the referee's decision, this will never be acceptable. Gerrard was guilty at least twice today. Was never going to happen, but as Gerard was going to get a booking for the foul, he should have recieved an immediate second yellow for the foul mouthed rant, and his insistence of making sure his obscenity riddled comments were going to be the last word between him and the ref. He's done it throughout his career so now it seems to be a given that it's ok, it's just Gerard, As i say was never going to happen
  21. Don't expect too much. I was a bit disappointed, a bit dull imo Managed to get a listen, have to agree, not up to the standards of previous releases, as you say an ok record, just a bit dull
  22. We looked ok for about 35-40 minutes, but there were signs towards the end of the first half that Liverpool were more than capable of opening us up and scoring, we seemed to go very ragged after the let off from Bannan's F**k up, was hoping half time would give us a chance to regroup and regain little bit of the composure we had shown in those first 35 mins. Second half never really thought we'd score, didn't look capable of keeping enough meaningful possesion and mainly wastefulness by Liverpool kept the score down. Always thought we'd lose today but was hoping I'd be wrong and we'd get something positive. We'll be alright if we could play for a full 90+ minutes in a game, The team still seem very fragile mentally
  23. 75m, 100m, 200m, for me the discussion on population size and the inevitable immigration issue that surrounds this, should have Quality of life for the residents of the UK as the central point on any political policy debate, Unfortunately I don't think it receives any consideration, let alone a low priority. When Quality of life is considered, wealth seems to have a disproportionate importance above the far more important disposable income, and even then so many other non financial factors make up a good quality of life.. Unfortunately I think we've reached a point where quality of life is suffering due to the net influx of people into the UK but I don't think immigration is the root cause of that deterioration, but it certainly has accelerated or worsened the deterioration of some if not all,, mostly this erosion is due to politicians ignoring the real issues and consequently making poor policy decision after poor policy decision going right back well into the last century. As already said net population growth has exasperated and magnified many problems, but it I don't believe it caused them on it's own, It has certainly helped to highlight them, So to blame immigration as the cause of many of these problems is wrong and hence to suggest a blanket zero immigration rule is the simple answer is once again just a simple deflection from the real issues, but to take the opposite stance is also wrong, The real problem as always lays somewhere in the grey area where black and white overlap, unfortunately until we get some politicians who actually want to work for the people who call the uk home,Politcians who are capable of admitting what the real issues are and get away from the current deflection tactics things ain't gonna change. Looking at our current bunch, hell I think It's gonna get worse. problem is even if we do, there is an awful lot to put right, and even if by some miracle we get people in power with the will to deal with the real issues, it might be too late.
  24. Wigan remind me of so many teams (Coventry and Wimbledon spring immediately to mind) that stick around like a bad smell despite being truely rubbish most of the tiem, lets hope like all the others the luck runs out and we get to say goodbye to them for a very long time, all we can hope is it's sooner rather than later.
  25. TBF you can't blame Wigan for trying to win, You can blame the useless ref that gifted them 2 points last week and Norwich who seem to want to limp home, much like us last season by trying to draw 0-0 every week, You can definitely blame the fat Spanish waiter and Chelsea's "donate some points to any struggler but villa scheme" that they seem to be operating this season for making our task that little bit harder, Following today you can just see us being stitched up tomorrow, just like Friend did his best to stitch us up against QPR,
