    ...Excellent at defending, which we did plenty of today, but attacking can and should also be a form of defence and he visibly shits himself when he gets the ball during an attack. Attacking could relieve the defensive pressure on the team were he in possession of the skills needed, but he just isn't. It's painful to watch him kill the momentum every single time.

    I agree, we should have been braver, but we were outclassed. Hard to be brave when you are under the cosh. Simple as that. We stood with them, just about, for most of the match... bravery, luck, skill and effort all have a part to play over the course of a season. If you apply the last one consistently, the others will fall into place eventually to some greater or lesser extent. We showed plenty of effort and some skill, which was rewarded with plenty of luck until the final five minutes. I'd say, we did ok given the circumstances. I'm not at all gutted. I expected us to lose. I only wanted passion, team effort and to compete. We showed that and we will get better. We are already 1 million times better than the shower of shit that went down because we care. They fought like lions out there.

    I mean, yes and no. He'll lose his place soon enough. Luiz looked decent. That will be his position soon.

    True, I really don't like him as a player because he is woeful going forward and to my mind, attack is the first line of defence in this League, but... he was pretty good in defence. It's just not enough.

    We were battered, yes. But we held the Champions League Finalists for most of the game. They absolutely deserved to win, but they are an excellent, established top four team playing at home. We did very well, considering. I have seen enough to feel encouraged. Obvious weakness is that we are not as impressive in attack as we are defense and against the better teams that will see us beat, as it did today. We need to attack more confidently and I think we will against lesser opposition. Nice composed cameo from Luiz and he has to start ahead of Hourihane who was overrun. Jack needs to sharpen up, he wants too long, he's no longer the King. Engels, Mings and Heaton all excellent. We will be okay this year. Just need to gel ASAP which is no small task, but I think we will get there. Well played chaps.

    Obviously want a win, but would be delighted with a point and not in the slightest bit deflated if we lose, so long as we show plenty of fight and some attacking promise.

    Obviously, how we play and our results will be influenced by who we are playing, but given the upward shift in quality, I imagine we will see quite a bit of the Leipzig style of football. Dig in, harry and press and counter when we can. That worked well. Against 'lesser opposition' Smith will probably give them more license.
