  1. Imagine making him captain, analyse that McGinn/Gerrard fans
  2. Day 1 of the new season and this thread has been created with reasonable justification. He's not very good and unlikely to prove us wrong. I want to be wrong. It ain't happening.
  3. It is the modern way. Everyone talks out of their arse because no-one dares to admit they are not ready... unless you are Bournemouth, where admitting you are not not ready is a tactic that works.
  4. Anyone full throttle enjoying the Gerrard era so far? If so, what are you loving? This is is your opportunity to silence the Brexshit doubters. Perhaps we should all just be waiting patiently for the benefits 50 years down the line?
  5. It's a fair question. It's early days, but his early indications are far from encouraging. We lack any style, cohesion or identity, which would be fine if you could see roughly where we are going, but you can't, can you? We are shit.
  6. Nope, theirs have more desire and cohesion. We are just cos-playing.
  7. If you are an Aston Villa supporter and you enjoy it, you are a masochist, so just accept it. If you see an aggressive opposing fan coming towards you, lean forwards, express your submission and except your fate. You, we are shite. End of story.
  8. No discernible style or intent. Usual Villa shite. Over inflated ambition not matched by the capabilities of the players. Whose fault is that? Players, club or fans? Who cares. We are still shit. The end.
  9. Gerrard talks shit. He never sounded convincing to me. He personally, may have high standards, but that on its own is not enough. He can't bring people with him and persuade them of his vision. Reputation is important, but it's not enough. He's not likeable. W.A.N.K.
  10. We deserved to lose. Well played Bournemouth, they played with pace, courage and conviction despite their limited ability, which shows it's all about attitude. Aston Villa played in the opposite way, which tells you the manager is living a Liverpool fantasy that doesn't apply to Aston Villa. W.A.N.K.
  11. You want three words? Small, slow and shit. We are not very good. This game has been apaling. And no, it is not an exaggeration. Gerrard will be gone soon enough. Quote me.
  12. I'm sure it all looks great in training, but we look shit under pressure. It's been like this for years. We need too much time to do anything. The whole team is ponderous. We ain't going anywhere at the moment. The subs changed the game pre-season, Gerrard needs to show some balls and play them from the start, kids or otherwise. We have no **** drive or desire. Cack.
  13. W.A.N.K. It would be more fun. As would listening to this... https://youtu.be/TxbIU0X-lCI
  14. Ahhh, that old Villa chestnut of taking our chances, whether more urgently on the pitch, or more strategically off it. There they are, the pesky little buggers, sitting up, begging to be taken, just like our future King and what do we do? Well, let's say in all likelihood, it probably won't be Bournemouth getting pegged back on Saturday. Far more likely is that Buendia will start on the bench, Couthino will show some nice touches and come 5pm, we will feel that crushing sense of humiliation and disappointment that we all know and love.
  15. Second half was League One standard football. Sanson was named on the team sheet, but I'm not at all convinced that he even exists - hard to get rid of nothing. Fred committed, but still poor in possession. Carlos looks good, Olsen probably our man of the match. Overall, uninspiring.
  16. Early days, but some of the old flaws still look to be present and correct: Ponderous Mings Wasteful finishing Lack of fluidity/harem scarem On the plus side, Couthino has shown some beautiful touches, easily our best performer and Olsen has impressed. As I say, early days.
  17. You could make that argument yes, it sounds pretty sensible. But for me, there's something to do with intent and belief in your abilities that doesn't sit right with accepting that you can be beaten. Could be talking nonsense, but I don't recall Emi rooted to the spot and watching too many goals whizzing past him - he's normally flying through the air like a giant cat trying to stop them!
  18. He's being spoken about because he just said he would be happy to be a number 2 at a club like Villa or Arsenal because he could still mentor the younger number 1 at those clubs. Agree re: Olsen, personally it irks me when a keeper doesn't dive and just watches a goal go in, even if it is true that he had no chance of reaching or stopping it.
  19. Not sure what you mean by 'too technical'. Surely Couthino is even more technical and he's Gerrard's first name on the team sheet. If you mean he is too technical at the expense of putting in a shift, or staying on the pitch without getting injured, I would agree with you. He has been a big disappointment so far. Let's hope he finds a way to make an impact.
  20. These exciting new players are a significant upgrade in terms of their reputation and current performance levels, so it's clear, we are now buying high quality ingredients. What's not clear is whether the head chef has the right mix of skills and experience to create an award winning dish, night after night in a pressure cooker situation. He speaks with all the bravado of a Gordon Ramsay, so we'll just have to see if it's all talk, but he knows his sweetbreads are on the line. Europa Conference League qualification campaigns don't get better than this.
  21. Not sure even Graeme knows who he is, so that should give you an idea to the accuracy of his 'insider transfer knowledge'.
  22. He watched all the goals go in. I don't care if you have no chance of stopping the shot, dive to show you care. Poor performance in my opinion. He looked scared. Needs replacing.
