In a word, we are a mess. Others might think salvation is just round the corner because (and on this I agree), we have some good players, but we are not in this game at all. We look like relegation fodder.

Couldn't watch it because I was at a family do, but I was checking the BBC text coverage and you could tell we were going to lose. There's no doubt we are capable of giving anyone a game these days, but the one thing we are vulnerable to is teams that want it more, we struggle to match that. Great when we are allowed to play and far too easy to bully when the opposition fancy it. That's mental and so are the lapses in concentration.

He has a lot more about him than Hutton, but at times he is in danger of showing the same wild range of capabilities. Always 100% effort, occasionally dominant and skilful, but fairly frequently wasteful and careless. His passing was utter shit today.

Typical Villa, an excellent United result followed by a woeful performance against a nervy Spurs team who were there for the taking. Apart from our goal, that showing was complete and utter relegation level wank. McGinn's energy is great, but his passing is shit and dangerously so. Loads of balls floated out of play by several of our players and Luiz constantly failing to beat the first man with his set pieces - seems that magic has worn off. Only two positives today - Watkins off the mark and Martinez keeping us alive again. Wank.

Martinez MOM purely for his massive South American balls. Superb performance all round. Would've been so harsh on Hause if we had drawn because he was excellent again and the flicked header for his goal was beautiful. Finally beating the Scum is a sexy feeling! Looks like we are turning into a very good side. That said, there's some weird chemistry going on between Watkins and Ings. Watkins is putting in all his usual team effort, but he looks unhappy. His first touch and shooting was poor today and has been in most of the games so far. Well out of sorts. -
2-1 Villa. What I'm hoping for is a first showing of our best 11, to get a glimpse of what we can be.

Well said. There are certain players, where as soon as you offer any kind of criticism, no matter how reasonable, you are labelled as 'just waiting for your chance to slate them'. It's absurd, why can't players be criticised fairly?
