  1. Yeah, but Dendoncker has the turning circle of a depressed diplodocus.
  2. Irrespective of whether what he is saying is true or not, I like this attitude... Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins to Sky Sports: "It was not good enough from us collectively as a team. "Don't get me wrong, they are world-class players but we were too soft, me especially when Rodri ran past me for that goal. I should have made the second block and I feel I let us down today. "Against City you cannot give away easy goals. The first was from a set-piece and then it is hard to get back into the game." On what Unai Emery said at half-time: "He told us that if you make a mistake, own it and don’t look at anyone else. We have to learn from this."
  3. He reminds me a bit of Justin Fashanu in how he looks and plays.
  4. Has skill, but if you had to sum up Leon Bailey in one word, it would be weak. Whatever skill he has is often wasted because he loses control after being pressured in possession.
  5. Admin, please can we have 'nobody' as an option for MotM? This isn't the first Villa game where no-one deserved that accolade, yet the scoring system won't allow you to progress to the comments unless you choose someone. I was able to rate the referee and the manager, but no player played well enough for long enough to earn a standout rating. That said, we did 'win the second half', partly because City knew the job was already done, but also because we took the game to them and were competitive. The first half was pitiful and we fully deserved the pasting we got. Duran looks decent, Digne looks finished. Encouraging cameo from Couthino. Marking at the first half corners was wank. We are very much a work in progress, we just need more and better players, obviously!!
  6. Bent forward and spreading our cheeks to ensure the deepest possible penetration.
  7. It doesn't matter that it's City, this performance is unacceptable.
  8. That wasn't a penalty but this is men against boys. We are fully back to being utter wank.
  9. As predicted in the pre-match thread... forever reliable, patron saint of lost causes, Aston Villa are the Mother Theresa of the Premier League.
  10. Bertie is the perfect modern day footballer for the polarised society in which we live, in the sense that because he is capable of producing both the sublime and the ridiculous, he can be anything to anyone. So, depending on your mood and how positive/angry/underappreciated/argumentative you are feeling, you can go on Villa Talk, express your opinion about Bertie and feel like you have won the internet. For that reason alone, we should welcome him back because he may be garbage/better than Messi, but he is also doing wonders for our mental health and wellbeing.
  11. Since the Premier League restarted after the World Cup break, no team has lost more games (4), or won fewer points (1) than Leicester City. And we all know what that means
  12. Not doubting the wages thing, but Dembele would have gone off to Turkey? He's a very good player!
  13. No official (least of all Unai), would openly say, "I'm frustrated". Managers hint at it just before and during the window, but no point immediately afterwards. It is what it is.
  14. Definitely also puts a premium on the necessity of us delivering those pricey names though, right? Unai can't be allowed feel disappointed again
  15. Nobody knows how Emery feels, they are speculating that he could be feeling frustrated based on: (1) what he himself said, "they are not coming", (2) the reality - we wanted another striker separately from Duran, but didn't get one, (3) he's new in post and the first opportunity to back him only produced one of his target signings. Again, nobody knows if all of this adds up to him being frustrated, but it's not unreasonable to suggest that he is. Oh and that's okay btw! I want him to want more. We must deliver at least some of these main targets in the summer. We absolutely must. No question about that.
  16. I watched him play for them vs the Baggies before Xmas and before they started to struggle. I think that loss was the beginning of their slump actually. He looked to have some really nice touches, without quite producing the killer pass or shot that was required. Still very young and clearly very talented, but nowhere near being ready to shine at Villa, in my opinion.
  17. Pretty sure I saw somewhere online that Archer got named MotM by the Boro fans and there was plenty of praise flying around in general for his debut performance. He is definitely continuing to impress at that level, which is excellent news because he can't do anything more. I like him and hope he gets a proper first team chance here at some point.
  18. We can't not secure our targets in the summer, because that would almost certainly signal the beginning of the end of this beautiful Emery revolution. There's only so much disappointment a top coach will put up with. I have no doubt we will be going big and hard for exactly that reason, but other clubs knowing it as well, does rather set us up for more potential frustration because our top brass think the prices are too high! Guaranteed hot summer
  19. According to Preece (I know), "he has made quite the impression down at Bodymoor Heath", so yes I expect he will be starting soon.
  20. The Birmingham Mail is 99% shite, so I rarely read it and often slag it, but for anyone who can't be arsed to trawl through yesterday's wankfest on here, this summary of the main issues and how they were perceived by fans is actually pretty good, I think... OPINION £400m frustration and Aston Villa summer window transfer plan explained https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-emery-26124642 Apologies if it has already been shared, though I can't imagine it has!
