  1. Okay, I haven't checked in on the progress of the Mateu Alemany rollercoaster on here yet, but my guess would be that we are currently at the 'he was never really interested in us' phase and fully entrenched in the 'it's him who should be embarrassed' phase, is that right? To start climbing again and show Matty got it wrong, Villa need a potential statement signing, then we can all get on with obsessing over the likelihood of him ditching Real and joining our Europa Conference League assent.
  2. I guess you could say it's a general truism of life that the spoofers encourage the spaffers and vice versa.
  3. And when you put it that way (from the financials point of view), it also seems a degree more likely, perhaps.
  4. The Lord God Almighty knows who we fancy for right back.
  5. On Lo Celso, I haven't watched him, but others who have say he's been signed by Emery twice before, thrived when on loan at Villarreal and was playing superbly for Argentina before the world cup when he got injured causing him to miss the tournament. His 'failure' at Tottingham is not a blot on his copy book because they are a joke club who don't know how to utilise the talent at their disposal. If Emery wants him, that's the end of the debate in my opinion - I suspect he knows exactly what he's capable of and how to use him in this Villa side. If there is a downside, its his injury prone nature - that is a genuine concern.
  6. Acchhh, don't worry about it. Let the zealots do the hard graft in sourcing the links, cumming prematurely when Darren on twitter says we are 'weighing up a move' and eventually getting depressed when Twatinho inevitably goes to Inter because the agent used Villa to jack up the price. While they are busy doing that, you can sit back in your lazyboy perusing tinder and only 'occasionally' checking Villatalk, while waiting for the thread to reach page 6 before becoming fully invested yourself, like an increasingly desperate crypto bro. Might as well just enjoy the ride pal, it's been years since any of us had this much hope!
  7. 'They' probably 'all do', but somehow it's more objectionable when Saint Harry, the dimwit does. **** him and **** Tottingham. let's hope he leaves them this summer and they get relegated next. Jumped up words removed.
  8. To all the dreamers, I say keep dreaming and welcome to Aston Villa. She is a cruel mistress who will edge you to the point of delight before then ruining your pleasure with a violent tug. It has pretty much always been this way.
  9. Sit deep against us and we struggle, it really is as simple as that. That only changes when you get better players. That's why we have reached our level.
  10. I would also like to say, well done Wolverhampton Wanderers, they know how to win one-nil. It's dire, but effective. We would have won that game with more urgency shown by better attacking players. We don't have them yet, so well played Wolves, they did what they had to and you have to admire that.

  12. We were the better team and lost. It hurts but we have done the same against teams on our run. My complaint is that we are too slow and not clever enough in the final third. We deserved to lose because we SHOULD have won and couldn't. Very good teams convert their superiority. Hugely disappointing, we've made great progress but have been overperforming and now we are reverting to our level. Still a good season, but not good enough for Europe.
  13. I mean it isn't but we need to rediscover our killer touch.
  14. Traore was worth bringing back for his previous goal contributions but he's not a long term option. He just isn't. Too slow.
  15. Yeah, he wasn't great though, again. It's almost as if he loses his rag when he isn't 'allowed' to play a sexy through ball, which is pretty often in this league. He is capable of excellent things, but very much upgradable, as I imagine he will be in the summer, unless Unai finds a different role for him.
  16. We are running out of steam a bit, but I am still 100% proud of our achievements so far under Emery and particularly in that second half where we were the better team. We deserved a point. I thought we might lose this one, so no shame in this result at all. End of the run, but no way has the momentum been stopped. Well played boys and on to the next match.
