The jury is still out for me with Vlaar, i expected him to be better than he was last season although alongside okore he may well look a much better player - it will be interesting to see how he does this season .

I think we look more assured with baker alongside Vlaar although he is prone to the odd blooper , i would expect okore to start with Vlaar and Clark to be 4th choice when all are fit . He has dropped down the pecking order and has himself to blame , last season he had a golden chance to cement a first team slot and failed badly.

I think there is little to choose between most clubs outside the top 6 - if we have a good season then its quite possible we could finish top 8 , i would certainly expect and hope for a top 10 finish One thing for sure i believe we will be the highest midlands club - Albion and stoke will both be bottom 8.

Now he has turned blackburn down i fear we will be stick with him until his contract ends next June - cant see him getting a better offer than blackburn made to be honest .

If the streams are working as good as the last 2 games then i would say its value for money , I'm not sure i will pay once the friendlies have finished though. The clubs with tv channels on sky charge about £6 a month and have day long repeats of games, interviews , documentaries etc but of course they also have far more revenue than us .

I think they are sending out new activation codes with season tickets. Last seasons code is no longer active as of today.

Bad news- Barry Bannan: Move to Blackburn has fallen through Sky Sports understand that Blackburn Rovers have pulled out of a deal for Barry Bannan. Rovers had agreed a deal with Aston Villa for the Scotland international midfielder. However, the 23-year-old has seen the move fail to materialise as Rovers failed to agree terms with the player's representatives. Gary Bowyer had hoped to have Bannan signed and sealed ahead of Saturday's opening game of the season, despite issues with the deal. According to kendrick the signing is still not completed and blackburn are still hoping to sign him although are quoted as having other targets if the talks break down. Surely bannan must see that nobody better than blackburn will be interested in him - just sign and go please barry!

If our forward three I'm their various combinations only net 30 goals I'll be rather disappointed. As above, 40 should be the target. 15 from elsewhere and we'll see more progression. Agree with this , benteke should be around 20 and gabby and Weimann at least 10 goals each - get 15 from elsewhere and we will be fine ( as long as we tighten the defence a bit).

Agreed, competition at left back was lacking last season and Bennett played at to,es when he maybe should have been rested - luna provides competition and looks decent enough- the more competition for places in the squad the better players will need to play to hold onto their place- our bench already looks better this season.

I've been impressed so far what I've seen of luna , he seems to get forward a lot and find space down the flank and will probably take the spot from Bennett if he continues this form.

It's only the reserves squad under cowans , the next 1st team friendly is at Walsall in midweek.

I notice Chelsea , Man U and Liverpool show their games in full after they have been played( not live). I don't know if they pay more for the privilege but i would think villa maybe could show games in full on the website the following day if they have the same broadcast rights as those other clubs.

Not sure karim will make it at this level , he was one of the biggest disappointments from last season and I'm not sure he can adapt his game to the premiership, needs to up his performance level a great deal.

I think sylla adds something that our midfield was lacking and he has looked a real bargain for what we paid, i see him developing into a really good player for us in the coming years , very pleased we got him.

I complained and got a free month and just logged in and in subscribed till late October so they must have added another month again on top of the free month- wanted it mainly to watch the friendlies but lets hope we can get decent coverage tonight .
