  1. Can't see any way that lerner would sack Lambert while he is owner - having just given him a long extension I feel we are stuck in the abyss until the club is sold and sadly that could be a long way off
  2. I think the best we can do regarding Vlaar will be to try and do some kind of exchange deal with United for cleverley - although I fear Cleverley may eventually bide his time and end up at Everton . I don't see any hope of Vlaar staying at the club.
  3. Three years of this football under Lambert has been very depressing in the main - when he came he promised entertaining football but the negative style and lack of chances and goals is hugely annoying - I am losing my passion for football after over 35 yrs of watching - the sooner he goes the better .
  4. Apart from the home game with West Ham Nzogbia has delivered little in his time here - huge disappointment and looked very poor yesterday - a passenger almost .
  5. Agreed, everton on October 18th would be more likelier in my opinion.
  6. I would hope that we can finish 9th to 12th - the teams outside the top7 are all pretty average and given luck with injuries we can achieve that position .
  7. Hopefully with the international break approaching we will get a couple more practice games for him and unleash him at goodison on oct 18th - possible he could make the bench against City , but I'd rather we give him more time .
  8. We still have everton and Spurs in the three games after city so it will be a tough October-if we could finish october around 10th it will leave us in a good position to kick on from there with benteke back . Lambert needs to get a quality wing option in January in my view but there is nothing to stop us finishing in the top 10 .
  9. It will take a few months probably to see sanchez at his best - we need to give him plenty of time to adapt to the premiership.
  10. This is a worry for me - it's almost as if we pay these teams too much respect and the gameplan is sit back defend in depth and try to hit them on the break home and away - I watched the way leicester played last week in hitting United for five and wished we played with that same kind of attitude and ambition in our game .
  11. Agreed, although we have missed Vlaar in those 2 games - he and senderos looked very solid together . Lambert has shored things up at the back but needs to address the creativity -if you don't create chances you don't score goals . It's not been pretty to watch apart from the opening hour v hull .
  12. I've used all 3 over the years - there's plenty of room for several forums on the net - this place seems busier with more people around for chatting .
  13. I think we are lacking in creating chances still - benteke will put them away but will be give Hin the supply of chances he needs -for me a mid table finish would be a decent improvement and aside forum the top 7 then there's not a great deal between the rest. We are certainly better off than I expected heading into October - plenty of positives so far .
  14. Dont worry mate , I won't mention the place again . Im just happy to discuss villa issues here and hope that the season picks up again after this tough set of fixtures.
  15. Disappointing game and again lambert's failure to get the team to create chances is a worry - 4 goals in 6 games is shocking . Just to add while I am here - I am the same eastie who used to post on TBAR - i do like this site and hope to use it more in future and just to clarify one thing for those who know me from there - there is no chance that I will ever want to return to TBAR so I would appreciate it if they deleted my account and moved on . Sorry for that chaps, but I wanted to clear up any doubt - as for villa , we have more points than expected at this stage and look tighter defensively - let's hope benteke returning and an easier set of fixtures see us kick on from here .
  16. If lerner is in town I doubt there will be any statement - he probably feels like seeing a game given the decent start to the season . Lamberts comments suggest lerner still wants to sell but in the meantime it will be a case of running the club as best he can .
  17. Fair comments trent - there have been several mistakes regarding itk but I can honestly say they were all in good faith - no doubt still a mistake as they put the reputation of the site at stake and many founding members have since departed. I personally find this site a good one and know many people on TBAR use this forum too- there is no problem using both and not resorting to slagging off the other - the Internet is a big place and we can all choose where we wish to read information without the need for abuse - I have many times praised villatalk on TBAR myself .
  18. Very good points Trent, interesting that you bracketed Delph and grealish together but didn't refer to Vlaar? Do you feel he will see out his contract and assess his options in the summer? In fairness I think from a players point of view that would make sense and I fear Delph may do the same , I would expect grealish to sign a new deal soon .
  19. Just for clarity I put Lambert in the same category as these players, I see his contract as being equally important. I accept that opinion but feel the lambert issue for me is not cut and dried - it's vital we hold onto our better players and keep them , regarding lambert although the signs are very much improved this season I'd still like to see where we are at Xmas before committing to giving him a new deal- there have been many times I've felt we had turned a corner under him only for things to spiral downwards again . Should we be in the top half at christmas then I think that would be enough to open contract talks with him.
  20. I would wait until christmas and see the situation before thinking about contract talks with lambert . Granted if he continues as he has so far this season he maybe would merit a new deal . First priority as Trent says must be to secure grealish Vlaar and Delph on new deals.
  21. @patmurphybbc: Re Keane/Villa - understand it was talks about talks between Lambert & RK a few wks ago.No offer made,RK off to USA with Ireland. No urgency @patmurphybbc: Lambert & Keane known each other for yrs,get on well - but no significance to Celtic/Villa stories emerging same day.Might happen.May not
  22. @PaulAbdale: Not often shocked in this job, but the possible new No.2 to Paul Lambert will certainly be a major surprise. #avfc Just tweeted. He's the Daily Mirror assistant sports editor. Looks like Trent was right
  23. Mirror reporting a major shock name as number 2 to be revealed - moyes? Lennon ? Keane?
  24. Clarke would be another good one actually. Proven at sorting defences when in a coaching role Seems odds on for Celtic job though now Keane has pulled out.
