  1. His all round performances have often been a real stand out. Scored some great goals and ripped some defenders to shreds at time. I'm confident he wouldn't look out of place in any decent premier league team.
  2. He's clearly a good enough player for the premier league IMO, we'll do well to hold on to him.
  3. I'm probably scapegoating him a bit but Bacuna just annoys me so much. I don't think there can be any coming back for him now either (in terms of playing for us next season). Usually the only way a player can be forgiven by the fans for being a grade A cock end is by putting in good performances/effort and as we've seen for the last 3 years he just clearly isn't physically capable of it. Found his level in Holland and I'd imagine he'll return
  4. How badly have things become to be looking back fondly on the performances of the ghost of Villa Park.
  5. I always presumed the Ireland POTS was some sort of joke / ironic protest against the board? Was it not? Jesus. Pretty sure I voted for Robbie Keane
  6. Great post! Some very realistic signings in here which I think we should look at. David Marshall would be a class signing IMO. The suggestion of Stephen Ireland did make me retch a little though.

    Adama Traore

I'm sure I must have but I can't actually remember ever seeing him play live. Sad.
  8. I'd probably rather Newcastle did come down with us to be honest. Would take a bit of the spotlight/pressure off us and would also just make me feel slightly less sad.
  9. I'd be fine with this formation if we had dynamic, attacking fullbacks (e.g. Amavi and his right footed twin). But Hutton and Cissokho simply aren't that. Don't be fooled into thinking this is 3 at the back, that back 5 will be within an arms length of each other all game. A Mcleish formation of the highest order.

He looked class in his first couple of appearances. I'd probably never been more excited than any other debut coming off the bench. He's also scored some worldies for us and has put in some very decent performances. Granted we haven't see this enough and he's gone off the boil quite a bit recently. But I think that those who do rate him or like him as a player do so because of what he's done on the pitch and nothing else.
  11. That was a typo, edited it.
  12. I really do disagree about Richardson being better than Cissokho offensively. Richardson is possibly the worst player I've seen down Villa. Edit: Just had a think and Kieran doesn't take the prize but he's definitely up there.
  13. I agree but think that's because it was inevitable for Benteke after years of great service and easily the best striker I've seen at the club. If Benteke had left after his first season and that move to Spurs (?) had gone through I would have been absolutely distraught. I agree with him showing more love and fight for the club than Benteke as well. (I really do need to get round to changing my avi... maybe an equivalent but with Ayew's signature death row expression)
  14. I'd argue he definitely has the physical capability - strong and fast with a good engine. In terms of being disciplined, he's played right back for the majority of his career so I presume he knows how to play there. I'm not sure we've seen enough of him in attacking areas to completely right him off his technical ability, but defensively he's strong, good in the air and a good tackler. Bacuna had a great game last night and deserves his place in the squad for now, and long may it continue. However, he has had very good games at full back before (home win against Chelsea a couple seaons ago for one) and then regressed in other games. I'd argue Micah is the best RB at the club and, longterm, I'd be happy for him to be our first choice.

Can still respect other's opinions without dismissing them like they're inconceivable though?

Don't think I could disagree anymore so I'll end the discussion there.

Say if Liverpool were struggling for goals and refusing to give Benteke any chance for a prolonged period of time besides the odd 5 minutes here or there then I'm sure some Villa fans would be thinking they don't deserve him. Perhaps "deserve" wasn't the right choice of word. Wasn't suggesting Gil is bigger than the club or even the best player, was just trying to look at the situation objectively. People on VT love ganging up on a post over a slip of the tongue or someone having an opinion which doesn't match their's, puts me off.

If that's the case then I don't really understand the outrage over suggesting that a club doesn't deserve a player who looks better than the rest of those in that position yet consistently gets very little chance.

Been misused IMO, but, you're right - the alternatives have worked out great this season!

We don't deserve him to be honest. Clueless club with a manager who has so far been very unimpressive. Stick to playing the cloggers like Sinclair and Gabby or we'll end up like Palace or Leicester
  22. Spineless idiot. Can go in the bin for me.
